Paolo Siani,
Needs a lot of work!
I’m not sure why they don’t invest some time to fix this app. At first look it seems like it includes all the basic controls for a sound system but once you try to use it it gets very disappointing. When switching among the various zones it doesn’t always work so you have to quit the app and launch it again. The on-off and mute button of each zone doesn’t always work, or doesn’t respond for 3-5 seconds There’s no way to custom name the zones so it gets very difficult to remember what each zone controls, especially when you combine 2 or 3 units with 12-18 zones. Sources need to be named on each device separately, it is not retained by the unit From time to time the settings of some zones change on their own: like the volume, pan, eq etc. There’s no way to group the zones or even control all the zones at ones, except All ON and All OFF.
You cannot assign a static IP to the network card…really???
The unit doesn’t have a built in IR recover to use with a remote controller…. You need to purchase a separate remote controller unit which is also not efficient and poorly designed. Once you buy the optional remote controller units the remote controller needs to be pointed to the various wall plates and can only control one zone at the time so you need to go around the various rooms and zones which defeats the purpose of having a remote controller…. I
’m pretty sure that any decent app developer could fix all those issues very easily. It just looks like they gave up on the app development when most other companies invest a lot or time and resources to make apps function properly. C’mon OSD! Fixing this app will rebuild the confidence of existing customers and will definitely help you sell more units once people
Chatham House,
Overly clunky, borderline non functional
This app is extremely clunky. You make a setting to one channel, move to the next and the previous channel reverts. Navigation in the app makes no sense, and channel names and settings are stored on the device so each house member has to set up their own, and everyone competes with each other even when controlling different zones. We had a friend that sets up home automation/audio video systems and he struggled. This app needs to be redone from a UX perspective.
darnok89,
Worst zoned audio receiver and app ever
I am a technician and have been installed large scale multimedia systems for more than 5 years (usually more than 20 speakers across 6-10 zones all controlled via smart device. And this is the worst. The customer ended ups spending almost 3-4 extra hours to install this device instead of the one I suggested. And now this system is more of an on/off 2 zone setup rather than a customizable 3 zone setup. Never buy Nero
McCodeman,
Garbage App
The app does not sync with the amplifier 75% of the time, is not intuitive, and locks up often. I am seriously disappointed after purchasing the OSD MAX-12. The amp is decent but if I cannot control it, then what is the point! This app feels like it was written in Tcl/Tk and is ancient from a UX perspective -- but that really doesn't matter since it doesn't work and control the amp anyway.
Sneaky706,
Very disappointing
My main zones use 8 ohm speakers so I have to connect in bridge mode. The audio controls in the app do not recognize this and now my speakers work in only one channel, so I miss out of so much sound! Basically if I move the speaker to Left then no change in sound, but move to Right and crickets!
aa_ron81,
awful
This app is garbage. It is not intuitive and has seemingly not been updated since the invention of smart phones. Step it up OSD!
Jayden Hut,
It’s okay
It’s takes 3-5 seconds to respond, but there’s a problem when I switch a song on Spotify it takes Atleast 4 seconds to play the next song, get some work done
