ronquijote,
Handy for Planning and Recording Exercise
This app makes it easier to plan and then also to remember what you do, in order to better balance the exercise options available. The rewards are nice, too—I now have a Y towel for each day of the week, which helps me get my 6 miles in 65 minutes on the open stride elliptical, when heavy, toxin-removing sweat would normally flood my eyes and tickle my nose. The app also accepts my trail mileage outside of the Y. It’s one of my few apps with near daily use.
Suburban deweller,
A taste gives way to planning, fun the whole way
I downloaded the app so I could get a clear time for when the areas were open at my local Y per the recommendation of a staffer. The ease of use and introduction of Y Rewards poured on the exploratory taps and swipes and sure I may not be ready for Kickboxing tomorrow, but I do think I’m about to benefit from the Meditation class.

The challenges are nice but it’d be great to see them curated by local staff.
Spinner girl,
Fully functional
This app does everything I need it to do. I can view class schedules, check in and track my workouts. I’ve never had a problem with it.
I love the simplicity of having an app on my phone. No need for a member card or anything else. Love it,
I have this and app fir a Pilates studio that I belong to. They haven’t taken the time to make it as functional as the Y has done.
AlliDevs,
Works really well!
I got the app because you can no longer check the group exercise schedule from the website via mobile phone. I thought it was going to be annoying but it’s really nice and works very well. I like how I don’t have to wait for things to load, it’s just there!
Roliver709,
Awesome with recommendations
I really like the app for the scheduling and can see all of the classes which is great for my schedule and being able to add to my calendar. I like the notifications of changes or when something is closed or open it’s very informative and on time. While it does connect to a lot of fitness trackers I would like to see it connect to the Apple Watch or connected to the health app in Apple‘s iOS. Otherwise I love it.
S2fel,
Violates my privacy settings
Despite never allowing Location Services or Notifications in the Settings for this App, every time I walk into the Spring Valley location, I get a push notification on my iPhone. I have WiFi turned off 99% of the time, and have never connected to the YMCA WiFi, so it’s not coming from that. I don’t even use the App to check in, rather I did a screen shot of my barcode and made the photo a favorite. Clearly this App is somehow circumventing Apple iOS user privacy settings. Makes me wonder in what other ways is this App taking data from me.
NattygrrlD,
Buggy update
3 Stars because this is still a well designed app but the recent update seems to be a little buggy. I now receive a “No data available” screen when I try to look up the hours at my local Y. And the app is no longer importing workout data from the Precor/Preva app (despite deleting, reinstalling, and reconnecting just to be sure). I’m sure the bugs will get fixed, but that’s the current state of things.
GLH123,
Stopped syncing with Apple Health
It stopped syncing with Apple Health after February 1, 2022. I did double check all my settings even though I had not changed them. It also on week and month and year views of workouts appears jumbled chronologically and not always labeled. Somethings gone awry with this app. This limits its functionality in terms of workout recording and long-term record-keeping.
Mcadio,
Makes planning and working out easy
I love being able to sign in without my card because I always lose those. Seeing the pool and workout schedules allows us to plan our visits correctly and being able to see hours and get notifications is awesome!
Philly987654,
Minor complaints
Just two complaints: the app repeatedly asks if one would like to save a particular branch but never retains the answer, hence asking over and over. Also, there is a section of text (taken from old website?) that advises users that they can download the app. This seems superfluous since they’re already on the app.
