The PING app has been re-engineered as a putter custom fitting tool to be utilized exclusively by PING authorized club fitters and retailers. iPING 2.0 is a guided putter fitting experience powered by big data insights from over 200,000 putting strokes and algorithms developed by PING’s R&D team headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona.
-Fit for Stroke: An expedited way to determine a player’s stroke by hitting three (3) 10 ft. putts
-Optimize a putter configuration based on a player’s height, arm length and setup posture, as well as their typical miss tendencies, green speeds, and distance control through speed performance.
-Compare: Easily compare stroke metrics for up to three additional putting sessions, and compare stroke metrics to PING Tour players
-Ability to send email reports, including fitter notes, directly to consumer with recommended putter fitting specifications
-Ability to toggle on/off additional measurements and options
-Measurements offered in feet/inches and metric conversions

2017-03-28
Improvements and fixes:
- Siri can now assist you in getting your workout started, paused/resumed, and finished. For example: "Start a Play Golf workout with PING", "Start a Swing Practice workout with PING", "Pause my workout with PING", "Resume my workout with PING", "Finish my workout with PING".
- Start a new Golf Workout from your iPhone.
- Pause and Resume your workout on your Watch from the Force Touch menu (or use Siri).
- Accessibility improvements on iPhone.
***The Apple Watch battery is used extensively by this app – we use ALL of the sensors. In our testing we are able to complete a 4 hour round of golf using all of the features of this app – starting with 100% battery and performing ONLY a Play Golf workout. With 42mm versions we are seeing at least a 4-1/2 hour round of golf is acceptable. If your Watch hits the 10% warning during play, you should switch to your iPhone to edit the scorecard from there. This is obviously not ideal – but neither is a round of golf over 4 hours. Watch series 2 has more than enough battery for a round of golf and normal/light use through the rest of the day.
***For the Watch Series 2 to be guaranteed to use its own GPS sensor it must NOT be in communication with your iPhone. This means that after you start your round (and the course data is loaded) you should turn off your phone’s bluetooth and wi-fi to ensure the GPS sensor in the Watch Series 2 is being used by the PING App, instead of the phone GPS sensor. This is by design for Watch Series 2, and not something that can be changed or adjusted. After your round, turn bluetooth and wi-fi back on, open the PING App, and go to Golf Workouts to view your information. You may have to wait a few minutes for the data to be transferred automatically from your Apple Watch to your phone. Watch Series 1 MUST have a connection to your phone to get GPS data, and the GPS location is from your phone’s location, not the Watch Series 1’s location.
3.1.1

We’ve upgraded measuring your shot distances!
- Measure that ripped tee shot by marking the location of the tee and then where the ball finally comes to rest using the Force Press menu, or by long-touching the map view. Forgot to mark your tee shot location? No worries, we'll use the location of the tee box you’re playing from instead.
- Check out your measured tee shot distances on the scorecard on your iPhone, and your average driver distance for the round.
Upgraded GPS assists you in picking the right club to make the right shot.
- Better distances and less waiting.
- Accuracy is now indicated by a color outline on the map view. Green is spot on, swing away with confidence. Yellow is okay, but might be off by about one club. Red, well you might want to step off the distance.
Bug fixes and performance upgrades:
- Better performance when going to the next hole.
- We sent the data files to the gym to shed excess weight for better performance.
- Fixed a bug related to courses that do not have tee box locations in the course database.

Both iOS 10 and watchOS 3 are required for this update.
Golf Workout Premium for Apple Watch:
- Reliable and accurate swing tempo measurement (now using Watch accelerometer and gyroscope sensors)
- Play Golf includes scorecards, hole maps, and GPS distances for golf courses around the world
- Measure your shots using GPS
Notes:
* Watch Series 1 GPS features rely on your iPhone to get location information so distances are from your actual iPhone, not the Watch Series 1.
* Watch Series 2 GPS features use your Watch's location information if your paired iPhone is not reachable by the Watch. Once you’ve started Play Golf and you’re on the first hole screen – turn OFF your iPhone bluetooth and wi-fi. Remember to turn bluetooth and wi–fi back ON after finishing your round to sync your Workout to your iPhone.
* Always Play Golf with a fully charged iPhone and Watch.
* If your Golf Workout purchase does not transfer to your Watch successfully, please reboot your iPhone and try again. Contact us if you have any problems with your purchase!
Fixes and improvements:
- Edit your golf score and stats on iPhone to correct mistakes
- Backup Golf Workouts and iPING Putting Handicap to iCloud to preserve data between devices and installations (Health data is NOT included)
- Improved in-app purchase storefront experience and functionality
