Description

*** Now used with autistic children to practice following a sequence of events!***

Introducing the most famous Montessori activity of them all, the Pink Tower, now available on your iPad!

The Pink Tower was developed as an activity to help children with visual discrimination of dimensions, a Montessori preparation for math.

There are twelve exercises for the child to work with. Each requires them to identify the next cube in sequence to complete the desired pattern. You can choose to manually move the cubes into position or to simply touch the correct cube and it will automatically move to the correct spot.

The relationship in size between each cube in this app and the physical Pink Tower are exactly the same which is important for future Montessori activities!

This app was co-developed and approved by an AMI certified Montessori teacher with over forty years experience! We admit, we struggled with whether or not we should even develop a Pink Tower application because holding a three dimensional cube in your hand is supposed to be part of the concrete experience! However, understanding that most parents will not have a Pink Tower at home, there is value in constructing the two dimensional patterns by having to identify which cube is required in sequence to complete the design.

Young children will enjoy working with the Pink Tower and will be gaining key concepts useful in their understanding of math.

dadbabusmc,
Great for idea to take to the classroom
I bought this game for my kids, and they love it!! I'm a montessori teacher and my kids come to school with me. After the weekend of playing this game, they went to school and started doing the patterns and completely stunned my boss. The one thing that I do wish was that the kids could place the tower blocks in the design instead of the compute doing it. Otherwise this App is approved by me a mom and a montessori teacher!
gomezphd,
Pink tower!
This is a wonderful app for Montessori children. Our oldest daughter who graduated from Montessori went right to work pulling our real Montessori tower from the shelf and recreating your extension activities. Wonderful visual. Need more challenges like the combination of largest, smallest, larger, smaller... That made my four year old think! Our two year old quickly caught on and could play too. We request the brown stairs next...red rods, or combination of the two for challenging older children. Great start to many more montessori favorites!
Cyntroy,
Alright
Good on learning sequencing, however does not catch the attention of kids for a very long time. After about 3 minutes they are ready to go to another app. My 23 year old, 10 year old and 5 year old had same response.
KireP,
To automated! Let kids do it instead
One of the chief philosophies of Montessori is to let kids do it themselves and not have someone else do it for them.

The pink tower exercise normally teaches children many skills, but this application reduces it to just finding the next largest block.

Everything else is automated.

While rotating and placing blocks on the iPad is hard a better compromise could be made. Allow at least the option of moving the block and having it click in place.
barfors,
Too expensive
Tis app is ok, but waaay too expensive for what it offers
