Description

Ages 2 & Up. This app has been developed to include activities for children from preschool & kindergarten ages up to elementary school, to learn about the United States of America! Learn facts about each state, use the famous Montessori Geography Puzzle Maps, color in the states like a coloring book, and do "research" via the Mobile Montessori Worksheets!

Preschool children who cannot read yet can still learn to identify all fifty states by use of the integrated audio and graphics. Older children can practice doing research using the Worksheets activity. This app was first developed in 2010 and we haven't stopped adding to it! A special thanks to all the schools that continue to use our app in your classrooms!

Montessori Geography Activities:

- Learn to identify the shape, name and location of each state

- Learn historical facts about each state

- Assemble the United States puzzle map in the following ways:
- Find the state that matches the blinking shape on the map
- Find the state that matches the name at the top
- Assemble the puzzle map in any order you choose

- Color in the US Map like a coloring book and save your work to your photos

- Perform research by searching the app for answers to the questions on the worksheets

This Montessori application was co-developed and approved by a Montessori Teacher with over 40 years experience. Thank you for your support of our Montessori apps and please see our other Montessori applications!

We are very excited about this major update!

In addition to the names and locations activity, we have added two Puzzle Map lessons! Now you can assemble the complete United States puzzle with pieces that are exact replicas of the physical Montessori materials!

In the first puzzle map lesson children have to look for the state puzzle piece that is blinking on the map. When they touch the correct piece it will move into position on the map and the state name can be heard aloud.

In the second puzzle map lesson children have to look for the state puzzle piece that corresponds to the state name shown at the top. For children who cannot read, the state name at the top can be touched to hear the name aloud for them to find the corresponding state.

We sincerely thank you for your downloads and suggestions! We have plenty more Montessori apps on the way! In the meantime, please see our existing educational apps:

- A Montessori Sensorial Exercise - Pink Tower: Assemble up to twelve patterns with the famous pink tower!
- A Montessori Approach to Math - Hundred Board: Practice counting from 1 to 100 as you complete the hundred board!
- A Montessori Approach to Vocabulary - Animals: Learn to identify and name the animals!
- A Montessori Pre-Language Exercise - Opposites: Learn to distinguish between big & small, tall & short, etc.

Again, we thank you for your support of our Montessori applications! We hope you enjoy this update!

marleen62684,
Great apps for any Montessorian
As a certified Montessori toddler, early childhood, and lower elementary teacher I have to say I absolutely LOVE these apps. The subtle music and sounds, and the calmness of the voices fits right into the Montessori style of teaching. Not only do I use all of the apps for my own son at home, but I also recommend them to parents who ask for "homework", or who want to supplement their children's Montessori education further.
I understand that some people find the apps too boring for their children, or feel as if their children aren't "stimulated" enough. Montessori education stimulates children by giving them accurate facts to work with, not by overloading their senses with bright colors and animated pictures, or loud music and sounds.
These apps are a great addition to the Montessori curriculum, presenting children with the original tools but in a more modern medium.
Sonama USA,
Great app with zero distractions!
I wanted to actually buy a map of the United States for my kids room so they learn the real stuff. But then I thought I'd give a shot with the app. (I usually research for hours before downloading apps for my kids!). I am glad I got it. It is a clean and simple app that does not have a 100 hidden games my kids can play (they already have several of those in the other apps!). So when my kids are at it, I know for sure they are doing some value add! (Also, I had some glitch with the billing and they promptly resolved it.)
I certainly recommend this and their other map/ geography apps, if you mean for kids to really learn the real stuff, in a fun way.
KandEgames,
Nice app!
This is a fantastic app but I have to say we only use it in the game mode. I don't think my son would listen to each state. He would be really bored. I agree with another user in that in game mode, it would be good if the states could be shuffled. Also, it would be nice to add another mode of allowing the child to put the puzzle together in his own order. Great app. In spite of the suggestions. I plan on buying the other maps as well.
Lea Franco,
Learn Along with Your Kid
My only problem with this app USED to be that the states weren't randomized, but now they are. This is an intuitive and good-looking app. If you're like this parent, and somehow managed to graduate high school weak in US Geography, this is going to teach you along with your kid. (Heck, this would help adults without kids.)
Great work, Rantek. I Hope you decide to do a countries app, too.
Jacob Hantla,
Best map puzzle app out there
My 3 year old seems to want to learn US geography. She wants map puzzles. The other ones out there are two complex for her with two may words...this one she can play with for hours. But it is also modifiable enough that an adult could use it to help learn the shapes and locations of the US states
NND3,
Excellent Learning Tool
This is a Great App to help individuals quickly learn the names & relative placement of the 50 states, by letting the learner: 1. SEE the unique state shape and full name spelling. 2. HEAR how the state name is pronounced. 3. SEE each state's relative position on the U. S. Map. My 5 year old grandson is able to easily use this APP to study by himself or with my participation.
kevin.baynes,
No Randomization
Nice app. One major drawback is that the order to match states is hard-coded. This leads to memorization of position on screen as opposed to shape recognition. Would be great if it had a 'random' toggle somewhere to make matching more challenging. Maybe an optional timer? I want to up the challenge so that I want to come back and keep playing it! Also, I can't find the developer online to provide feedback. Where's the website?
Terrific2s,
Informative App
This app is fun and engaging.
This app is a United States Puzzle.
This app has several options of how to build the puzzle; by name, by shape or like a regular puzzle. It has options to either tap or drag the pieces into place.
There is an informative part that tells the name and location of each state.
This part also shares information about each state.
This app is great for both Montessorians and non-Montessorians.
The only drawback is that Delaware and Rhode Island can be difficult to move.
mstci,
Great App for kids to grow with!
My 2 year old uses this app and loves it! She can identify states by their shape. She basically only uses the puzzle section but can and will continue to use this for some time to come. The only problem I have is that after the OS 7 upgrade, the sound no longer works. Please fix this! Other than that its great.
rainbowcat5,
I'm a fan of Montessori, but...
Having taught in a Montessori school, I love the approach. I'd like to see more interactivity in these apps though. I think it would be more meaningful if the states had to be dragged to their proper location, rather than having them move automatically. This would also improve fine motor, and eye-hand coordination.
