To celebrate the launch of Pocket GM 21, I've decided to turn Pocket GM 20 into a free game.
- There are no catches, no in-app purchases and no ads (apart from a homepage banner linking to the new version).
- However, there won't be any further updates to this app, unless absolutely necessary, as I focus on the new 2021 game.

This will hopefully give you the chance to see what my games are all about and, if you enjoy it, give the new one a go.

This update does include a quick bug fix and reset of rosters, for all those who have played the old ones into the ground.

The Hall Of Fame has arrived!

No longer will your players retire and disappear into the abyss. The mediocre ones still will (they deserve nothing more), but the best will now make their way into the Hall Of Fame. You can view career stats and awards and show off your GOAT to friends.

Welcome To The Trade Center!
- Trade functionality has been overhauled.
- You can now add players to the trade block, receive offers from opponents and track other trades happening within the league.

More detail on trades and the other tweaks I've made. Hopefully this addresses a number of the comments and feedback you've shared.

TRADES:
- Players can now be added to the trade block (via the player screen)
- AI teams will automatically add players to the trade block
- AI teams will make trade offers for players on trade block from both user and AI teams
- Positional need is considered in trades and displayed on offer screen
- Trade values have been rebased to increase value of future picks and of newly drafted players
- Offers more likely to come from win-now teams with positional need and teams should only make offers if it improves their team
- Offers expire after 2 weeks or at the trade deadline
- If an AI team adds/loses a player, they will then release a player/add a free agent to maintain 53 man roster
- Trade Center introduced, accessed via the Team tab. This is where you can see any offers made from AI for your players
- Any outstanding offers are indicated by a ‘badge’ on the navigation bar. You can Accept/Decline/Counter any offers received
- The trade center also shows any transactions which have taken place between AI teams.
- From the trade center, you can access players/picks on trade block, or any other player

ROSTER SCREEN
- Reintroduced a direct link to Free Agents, as well as link to new Trade Center, where you can access all other players

PLAYER SCREEN
- Addition of when player was picked in draft
- Addition of which team player played for on season stats tab
- Addition of awards (this is only for new awards)

COLORS
- Team colors now flow through across Player screens
- Improved color matching to prevent teams not having similar colors on possession bar

Revamped the draft, combine and player evaluation, improved the match engine, added jerseys and fixed some bugs.

*DRAFT SCREEN*
- UI - Brought in line with styling of the rest of the app
- Player Sorting - You can now sort and filter players based on their scouted rating and position
- Player Summaries - Includes a high level player style (e.g. pocket passer), projected round and scout ratings (more about that next).

*DRAFT PROSPECTS*
- Combine - Drill results have replaced the previous player skill wheel. You can see how well each player rates within their position and get a feel for their likely attributes
- Scouted skill - Your scout has also evaluated player technical skills relevant to the position (e.g. Short Pass Accuracy). Dependant on scout quality, the accuracy of their evaluation will vary. I will add backroom staff in future which can influence this accuracy, but for the moment there is a small range around actual stats which is consistent across teams.
- Scout Rating - A current and potential rating is produced by your scout. This may vary to the consensus view as your scout has a different view of that player to other teams/media. The current rating is based on current skill and potential rating includes a view of potential development speed

*MATCH ENGINE*
- Improved intelligence of match engine to ensure teams make better decisions towards the end of each half - teams will now kick field goal as time expires and go for a hail mary if need a TD
- Increased likelihood of sacks
- Improved goal-line decision making, increasing likelihood of RB touchdowns and reduced QB
- Reduced FG success and created stronger link to kicker quality

*TEAM JERSEYS*
- Brought a bit more color and personalisation to the game with team specific jerseys. More to come on this in future releases.

ROSTER OVERHAUL - some of the most requested features so far:
- You can now reorder your depth chart (on roster screen) letting you promote youth, or rest stars ahead of the playoffs
- Roster screen redesigned to help you make better decisions in-season and post-season
- You can now see total player development over the season as well as contract details

Development detail...
You can now edit your depth chart on the roster screen, giving you more control over rookie development and injury prevention. Player development is driven by age, experience, roster position and underlying development speed (which will reduce with age). Tank and develop your youngsters or make a push for the Championship, but stifle your youth. It's up to you.

Also fixed a couple of annoying bugs (sorry for missing these before!)
- Fixed bug causing a crash when simulating games (was caused by injured kickers)
- Fixed crash when loading an empty game slot

Great game, some recommendations
Everything I’m looking for in a gm style game. Would make it better if you could manually scout prospects, add some hidden gems, busts, etc. Also adding things like player personalities.. ie a loyal player will ask for less salary, a tough player who won’t get injured, clutch players, leadership attributes etc. also would be cool to have a morale system, as well as an upgrade for your coach because as far as I can tell they’re all the same except for offensive and defensive schemes. Also an idea would be to be able to upgrade your abilities, such as coaching ability, making your players develop faster. Negotiating skill, ability to keep a positive atmosphere, more tactics and other things. Also, ability to turn injuries off, change the salary cap, and maybe add random off field events to give your players more life because right now they seem just like an age and a rating that’s it. One thing I also do not understand is how the contracts work.. the bonus and salary appear to have the same effect on the salary cap for the duration of the contract while the bonus should just affect the cap the year the contract is signed while the salary is the yearly cap hit after that. Just some thoughts. Amazing game however so close to being perfect. Thank you!

Anytime I’m going for a record my players seem to choke
It seems like something is keeping things “in check” per se. I’m not sure of the simulation engine but i’ve played hundreds of seasons and have found this to be very consistent. I’ve had teams in the mid 90s overall and still only hold a couple league records. Only a few champs bowls as well. It seems like whatever is keeping this game “challenging” is also making it unrewarding once you do achieve dominance. It’s frustrating to go all in with my cap space on a season because my team is so good just to start 12-0, drop 4 of the last 5 and lose in the champs bowl. It happens literally every other season almost. I know it’s supposed to be challenging but what about when I beat the challenge? Is it just not possible to achieve league dominance then simply due to the randomness of the simulation? I have yet to win more than 4 champ bowls in a decade even though I retain the same roster the whole time. It’s just too random but otherwise it’s an enjoyable waste of time. I understand an 84-85 overall dropping a game here and there, but my 90+ overall teams play no differently!

This Game is Really Good
This game is so incredible in lots of ways and I’m so happy somebody though of this idea. I have noticed that this game has some issues with saving. Sometimes I’ll be in the middle of a game and if I leave and my phone cuts of for any reason all my progress is lost. Same thing with trades. Also you should have the option of letting the game go through free agency and re signing for you because everybody that plays this game is not a real life general manager and sometimes it’s hard to do the right things and make the right moves in free agency which causes the team to suffer which makes the game way less fun. Those are just a few little things that I don’t like about the game. I do have a couple of request though. One is that we should be able to watch other teams play as well. Like with the Super Bowl. I wanna be able to see what goes on. Also a player creation mode would be really cool or if you could edit the players. Also you should be able to be more than just one team so you can do cool stuff like simulation leagues. And also PLEASE MAKE A NBA GAME LIKE THIS. But anyways this game is really good and much love to the creators.

Good game but a few things need to be added
I have played almost every sim football game out there and this is so far the best, most realistic one. The only thing is, there are several things left out. First of all it would be cool if we could see players stats in previous years before we start and what team they were drafted by. It would also be cool if we could customize our players and change their names and ratings and maybe even see what college a player went to. Also it would be great if there was player personality’s. Maybe some players have a mean sort of personality and don’t get along with others on the team. Maybe others are just looking for money, and maybe some players are looking to win or stay loyal to a team. Maybe others are looking for playing time and might demand a trade or won’t resign with you. That would be very realistic. Also to increase the realism maybe if your team is up big at the end of a game maybe they sub in the backups. Team morale could also effect whether your team goes up or down overalls based on how good your team is doing. Anyway, hope you have a good day and bye.

A cool game
This game is pretty cool. I really like the way you show the skills of the players. It goes more in depth than I thought. I thought this game would just be the typical oh draft someone they might or might not be good, “sign” other players and either you go to the championship or you don’t. But it’s more than that in terms of finances and picks and that you can trade players. I think my biggest things to recommend are 1. Allow for a side by side comparison of players. For example, I like looking at how a running back overall and skill set compares to another running back to help me determine which one is better or if I need to make a trade. 2. Having other teams come to you for a trade would be pretty cool. Being the one to initiate the trade every time is fine, but just would add some cool depth to the game if the AI came to you also. Keep up the great work! I just got here, but I can tell other people really like it and that you take their criticism or advice to heart. Awesome!

Amazing Start
I own every sim there is on iOS, and none have been this complete upon release. There is plenty of room for improvement but I am enjoying it quite a bit. I have noticed quite a few suggestions and I don’t disagree with most of them, more content would be amazing, maybe the ability to customize some stuff (ie team names, players etc.). The only real issues I have seen so far are as follows: not sure if it’s a bug or not, but I seem to constantly lose to winless teams.. when I’m 5-2 and the opponent is 0-7, or 9-3 v 0-12 and I’m higher statistically, I tend to always lose this should be cupcake matchup. Also, maintaining the salary cap can be difficult at times, due to the nature of a larger (53 man) roster and no true breakdown of the cap without scrolling and literally writing them down. Overall I am extremely pleased with this app and as others have stated, it is a great game that fills the need in the manager genre. Baseball and basketball would great also (would purchase without second thought).

Great game + suggestions
I love team management sims and this is the best football one I’ve found. Really fun to manage a team year over year, and you’re forced to make tough decisions with the realistic cap management system. Great job! I also wanted to add some suggestions for future updates:

1) More stats. Part of the fun of dynasty and team management games is to track your players among league leaders each season and all time. A big part of the replay value for me is trying to draft and keep a player who can break records (like career passing TDs, etc).

2) More realistic defensive stats. These seem particularly depressed. It’s common to have a star DE who has like 2 sacks in a season.

3) More pronounced career progression. A lot of guys who are drafted high don’t improve at all over the course of their careers (or only change by a point or two), which I don’t think is super common in real life. I think it’s tied to the work ethic grade, but it makes it less exciting to draft young players with pretty limited variation. It also means there are very few players in the game who ever achieve a rating in the 90s. More movement in general makes it more fun and unpredictable.

4) minor, but there could be easier navigation around trade. Would be helpful to see someone’s trade capital on their player profile, and there could also be a button within the draft to try to trade for a pick instead of going through a bunch of screens to try to trade with that team.

My Favorite Game
I don’t typically do reviews, but for this game, I had to. I’ve been playing for a few months now, and I’ve mastered the game. It’s the best sim sports game you can play, and it’s cheap. There are three changes I would make to the game to make it even better. Immersion is key with sim games.. we aren’t actually playing, but we wanna feel like we are a part of the teams story.
1. I would make draft/league stories. Make a few lil stories, even if they repeat every couple years, talking about this player winning the heisman, or that player being injury prone. Or a specific player wants to play for a new team.
2. I think it’s a little too easy to draft, maybe make the scouts sometimes fail depending on their level, and you’ll have some busts.
3. I think editing players, names, coaches, teams, jerseys. and colors would be awesome. Maybe add customizable “names” so that we could change it in game so you wouldn’t be held accountable. Just some feedback, love y’all!

Love It!
My brother and I still simulate Madden 2003 seasons together (my all-time favorite football sim) and this is the closest thing i’ve found to it in app form.

Really love how each player is assigned a value based on their age/skill/position combo. Makes trading waaaay easier as opposed to trying every combo hoping for an “accept”. Also dig how each player has a development speed.

Couple things i would love to see in the next iteration:

1, Ability to sim through a season with a friend using the same phone (basically just add functionality to control multiple teams at once so that you can pass the phone back and forth). My brother and i would play this all the time if this was added (taking turns at signing the best free agents to keep things fair)

2. Ability to view all league players in a single table that is sortable by things like salary, age, overall, development speed. Would make finding trade targets way easier.

3. Ability to switch injuries off. I know they’re realistic but when you put a ton of time into crafting your team, it’s real frustrating to lose your best guy for the season. It’s hard enough winning without injuries and if no team has injuries, it’s all the same anyway minus the potential frustration.

4. Summary of your players’ progressions at the end if the season so you don’t have to tap into each one individually.

5. Option to not view a play by play of the game simulations. (One-tap simulation)

Fun, realistic, and addicting
I love this game! It’s immersive, and doesn’t coddle you. You have to make tough decisions regarding who you’ll keep/cut/trade, and it won’t just hand out 16 wins every season, which makes it more competitive and fun.
That being said, I don’t like how little teams value their future picks. A first from a bad team next year could be worth like 1/2-1/3 of one of a decent team this year. Eventually, you can rack up a bunch of first round picks, and it kind of feels unfair. Also, there isn’t enough salary cap space to accommodate them (which is ok on its own, as people don’t want unlimited space to make the game too easy) when you do draft them. I’m all for a few teams maybe throwing around their picks, but when it’s half the league, and they’re all fine with giving you a first an a second for your 83 safety with only a year left on his deal, the game kind of feels unfair. Other than that, fantastic game!
