Warning: Cute alert! Pocket Penguins, streaming in real-time from the California Academy of Sciences, provides an intimate view into our live African penguin exhibit. Watch the birds swim, dive, flirt, nest and relax from any one of three live webcams. Listen in as Academy biologists answer questions from visitors during meal time, daily at 10:30am and 3:00pm PST.
The Academy's penguins are part of the American Zoo and Aquarium Association's Species Survival Program, aimed at conserving this species in the wild. African penguins (Spheniscus demersus) live off the coast of South Africa and Namibia. In 2010, the International Union for Conservation of Nature classified the species as endangered, or at very high risk of extinction in the wild.

Love it
I love this app because my one year old loves watching the penguins so much. Every time we turn it on he gets so excited he claps. It’s better than him watching cartoons, and it’s like we go to the zoo every day. Also love that we can hear when they have the Q and A with the people twice a day, we learn something every time. The only time we don’t like the app is when it’s not streaming.

I absolutely love this app
This is my new favorite app (And that’s coming from an 11 year old who won’t stop watching Netflix sitcoms). This is a very high quality app, with very in detail q&a. I checked the facts, everything they say is true. Would rate infinity stars if I could.

Fantastic idea
What a great idea. I love this app.
I do wish I could see a bit more of the water so we could catch a glimpse of some swimming penguins.
Edit: I just realize you can tap the screen for underwater view. I wish I could give 6 stars.

Suggestions
1) It’d be really nice if you could zoom in to get a better view of the penguins.
2) Could you make the underwater cam have color?
3) I can’t find the section where you can ask the scientists about the penguins...
4) I wish there was a section that had a description (name, age, color band, personality, etc.) for each penguin.
5) Maybe you could have some sort of schedule for the penguins in the app, or notifications? I’d really like to see feeding time vs when the CAS first opens in the morning.
6) It’d be cool if you did a livestream with one of the penguins to answer questions or show some tricks or something.

Small suggestion would be push notifications when the feedings are about to begin. If it’s the same time everyday, they could just be local timed reminder notifications. Cheers! 🐧❤️

The penguins are so cute. I like going to my phone after a bad day and watching the little penguins. But please please PLEEAAASE add color to the under water view. Other then that cutest app ever.😊😁😜

So far when I open this app all I get is "no network connection" I love penguins so this is extremely disappointing! I will keep trying but right now I am pretty sad.

Cut out camera
Rlly nice app and so cool to watch the penguins!!!...but😫 the camera cuts out randomly, so some days you can't even see ANYTHING I was gonna donate and feed the penguins, but if the camera constantly cuts out then why should I believe this is a legit organization. The penguins are worth it, but this so called "California institute of sciences" might not be...😡😤 JUST LET US SEE THE PENGUINS LIKE THE APP IS MEANT!

Underrated Gem
I love this app. I open it from time to time just to check in on the penguins. It’s a real treat to see one zip past the camera.
