- Create -
Pocketbooth takes a series of photos just seconds apart to create stunning photo strips of your memorable moments. Pose with friends, lovers, family, or pets, and if none are available, don’t worry. Pocketbooth is ideal for spontaneous self-portraits as well. And with the new Party Pack, you can turn Pocketbooth into the ultimate party machine.

- Share -
A photo booth would only be half the fun if you couldn’t share the strips with your friends. Pocketbooth lets you do that, too. With just a few taps you can post your photostrips to Facebook and Twitter, send them by email, or wirelessly print them on your AirPrint-enabled home printer. Printed strips make great gifts, wall hangings, locker decorations, love letter inserts, and more.

- Customize -
Pocketbooth includes five beautiful photo effects, two paper types and two border styles for your photo strips. If you yearn for more photo booth goodness, fear not! You’ll have the option to purchase additional filter/border expansion packs from within the app.

Main Features at a glance:

- Create stunning vintage-style photo strips that look like they were taken in a real photo booth
- Choose from five integrated photo effects, two paper types and two border styles
- Use either the front or the rear facing camera of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
- Add even more filters and borders with three new expansion packs
- Make use of your iPhone‘s flash in dark environments
- Optionally save your GPS location with every photo strip (can be disabled via Settings > Privacy > Location Services)
- Print directly from within the app using an AirPrint-enabled printer
- Share your photo strips with friends and followers on Facebook and Twitter or by email
- Optionally auto-save photostrips to the Camera Roll

The main fix in this release is related to auto-printing.

There was a bug introduced in iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 that broke auto-printing. Your photos would still print, but from the 2nd print onward, the photos would print smaller than anticipated. This is still a bug in the operating system, but we have sorted out a workaround that is included in this release.

In other news, we spent some time fixing bugs you probably never encounter, and we also updated all included libraries to their most recent version.

NOTE: we wanted all existing users to get these updates and fixes so we did not raise the minimum OS version. But our next release will raise the minimum to iOS 14 and iPadOS 14. (currently, the minimum OS version is iOS 9)

Thanks!

We are pleased to announce we've added our most requested feature: printing your photostrip multiple times per page.

In the past, your photostrip would be printed by itself in the middle of the page. Now you can select 2-up or 3-up prints which means the current photostrip gets printed in duplicate or triplicate on the same page. This way, you waste less paper, and you can share your extra strips with friends at your event. This feature is included in the Event Pack (formerly Party Pack) in-app purchase. Those of you who have already purchased this item will get this feature for free. Also included in the Event Pack is the ability to add some padding to any of the edges of the strip(s) when printing. This helps account for variations in printers and ensures your strips don't get accidentally cut off when printing.

We've also made a few updates to ensure things continue to run smoothly with iOS 12.

Happy boothing!

Quick fix for an issue that only shows up on iPhone X: previously, MMSing a photo was impossible due to a hidden To: field.
That's been fixed. Enjoy!

Welcome, iPhone X,
Your bright OLED face.
Goodbye home button,

This update includes lots of behind the scenes fixes but most noticeably, we've made everything look pretty on iPhone X, should you be lucky enough to have scored one.

iOS 11 is here!
And Pocketbooth is ready. Twitter and Facebook sharing have been removed as 1st-class citizens from iOS, and as a result, we've rearranged our quick-access sharing options. We added MMS sharing as well as a button you can use to access all the system-wide sharing options (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc).

(That was the info for 4.0 - this 4.0.1 version fixes a tiny little bug that we're fairly certain you never experienced)

Enjoy!

As the result of some great customer feedback, we have added a few more options for (longer) shot delays.

Also due to customer feedback, we have ever-so-slightly changed the behavior of how the red light works in the app. Previously, the red light would stay illuminated during the entire sequence of shots. Now, the red light only illuminates the second before each photo is taken. As if to say, "hold your pose!" This is attempt to address the frequently requested visual countdown. Because we have chosen to assume many of the same (beautiful, we would say) constraints of the vintage booths this app aims to replicate, we do not have plans to add a visual countdown. HOWEVER, this tweak to the red light behavior should address some of the same concerns. If you simply MUST have a visual countdown, we invite you to check out our iPad photobooth app, Pocketbooth Party. ;)

Finally, there were, as always, some behind-the-scenes bug fixing that you probably won't even notice. But that's how much we care. Cheers!

We are sad to announce the Print & Ship service will be removed from the app beginning on April 30. The Print & Ship service was one of our favorite features as it bridged the gap between the digital and physical worlds, and completed the old-school photobooth experience, albeit a few days later.

Undeterred, Pocketbooth marches on. The good news is that in the meantime, printing has gotten a lot better on iOS, so it is easier than ever to print your strips at home - at a significant cost savings. :)

Thanks to all of you who ordered strips over the past few years. We hope the joy of receiving your strip by mail approximated, in some small way, the joy of seeing a strip of photos emerge from the side of a photobooth.

Onward!

So long iOS 7 support, we loved thee well!
We are moving our minimum-supported OS to iOS 8, but fret not all you have to do is upgrade your version of iOS to keep on boothing.

This update also includes some printing improvements and minor bug fixes.

Dearest iPhone 6s and 6s Plus users,

We apologize to any of you who might have been seeing an errant spinner when taking photos. As it turns out, the new phones are soooo fast (a little plug for Apple) the app was getting ahead of itself. (the risks of the cutting edge!) We've reinstated order and things should be all good now.

Thanks for your understanding!

- the Management

PS We've also fixed a few other bugs for good measure.

Greetings, Citizens of Earth.

We are super-excited about this release. One of the difficulties in printing strips is the inability to see what it will look like in advance. Good news: we've added a brand new print preview that will dramatically improve your printing satisfaction. You can now see how the strip lays out on the paper prior to printing - no more guessing!

But that's not all, we've included some other nice updates. Since we know you love listicles, here are "New Features in Pocketbooth 3.1 - You're Not Going to Believe #3":

1) Print Preview
2) Remote Shutter support added to the Party Pack (in-app purchase)
3) iOS9-related updates
4) Some bugsmashes (not to be confused with dubsmashes)

Cheers!
- the Pocketbooth Team

EGADS! There was a bug with ordering Prints as of iOS 8 and we just realized it. Many apologies to those of you who have tried to order unsuccessfullly and thanks to the few folks who contacted us when they discovered the problem.

This is now fixed. Happy New Year.

If you're wondering whether you were affected or not, you would have seen a cryptic error after you tried to order a print. It would have been something like this: "blah blah blah (NULL)". This is now fixed. You are now able to Print & Ship again.

That is all.

***New in Version 3.0.1***
A quick release to provide better instructions for users who have not given Pocketbooth permission to access the camera. (spoiler: it is in Settings > Privacy > Camera)

***New in Version 3.0***

We are so excited about the arrival of iOS 8. Many of the features we had planned from the very beginning of Pocketbooth are now possible thanks to new technologies included in iOS 8.

First, we've enabled background printing for Pocketbooth. Once you've set up your AirPrint printer, you no longer have to keep selecting it each time you print. Simply tap the print button and it prints! (just as you would expect)

Second, we've added a Party Pack in-app purchase that turns Pocketbooth into a party booth. AutoPrint automatically AirPrints your photo after every shot. Party Mode keeps the app on the Pose screen for non-stop photo taking. When both of these options are turned on, you have the perfect party machine. Guests can sit one right after the other and printouts are made immediately after the photostrip is taken.

Third, we've done some bug fixing and the app is now fully iOS 8 compatible.

Enjoy!

Greetings.

Though the app has been compatible with iOS7 for some time, it didn't have iOS7 coursing through its veins. Now it does. You'll notice the newer keyboard and alert stylings.

Other than that, this update is mostly related to problems you probably didn't even know were problems. Well, they are fixed now. That's just how much we care.

This minor update adds a new Settings panel that gives you more control when AirPrinting your Pocketbooth strips. Now when you AirPrint a photostrip, you can choose Normal Mode, Photo Mode, and we're pleased to announce that Pocketbooth has been optimized for ZINK hAppy printers with the, you guessed it, ZINK hAppy Mode.

ZINK hAppy printers can print actual strips! (strips that are stickers, no less)

Happy Holidays!

- 4" screen support (finally!)
- made shipping times clearer on ordering window
- now utilize Apple's built-in Twitter and Facebook sharing for a better experience
- updated 3rd party libraries

Hello. Bonjour. Hola. 你好. Guten tag. Buon giorno. こんにちは.

1) We've added app descriptions in more languages.
2) Twitter sharing is back in the land of the living (not sure what went wrong there -- even the official Twitter app was experiencing the same problems)
3) Printing is a bit more flexible now -- if you print to smaller-sized paper, we handle that more elegantly now.
4) One additional tablespoon of mojo.

We're overwhelmed with the positive response to the new Print & Ship feature. Unfortunately, so were our servers!

A few users reported timeouts when ordering/uploading their strip. This problem has been fixed. Order away!

We've also updated our Privacy Policy so you know how we are using (mostly how we are not using) your email address.

Thanks!

Surly Aardvark,
It's the best at its task!
As a photobooth app, Pocketbooth is the finest available. It's a niche app, to be sure, but it does the best job of it that I've ever seen. Pocketbooth has the options, the filters, the exports and the general style to make using it a delight, and a frequent one, at that. It's a great party app, to use at gatherings and meetings. I've also used it in my classroom as a "depict a short story in four frames" activity. One could do the same with "live action" comics, invitations, congratulatory messages, get well messages, etc. The applications are endless and the ease of posting/sending one's results are smooth and varied. Plus, I like supporting this developer. He/she has style and humor. The updates are frequent and delivered with a friendly wit that I really enjoy. I want to see this developer try his/her hand at the next thing. I'd buy it again in a flash!
crazyivanov,
Great, nostalgic app
I’ve had this small app since it first appeared in 2011? I’ve lost track exactly, but around that time. I don’t use it often but it finds its niche in a special way.
I have to admit. I had thought this was one of those few apps that just ‘mysteriously’ still worked and would one day break on an iOS update. Glad to see the recent update.
Dshan636,
Limited
I am someone who never pays for apps. I bought this app for an upcoming Halloween party where I set up a diy “photo booth” with props and a backdrop.

Unfortunately, based on the limited options in the app I wasted my money and won’t be using this app for the party. I wanted to be able to turn my device in order to get a layout profile for the photo strips so that I could fit 2-3 people in a shot and still be close enough to read the words on my props. With this app you can’t do that really. There is no setting for layout so when you manually turn your device to the side it’ll take the photo strip but then it shows up in the viewer upside down which means guests would have to flip the device every time to see if they like it or not.

Since each photo is so small on the strip it also doesn’t make for high quality photos because if you edit the photos later on (crop etc.) you can’t blow them up without distorting them (say if you like one photo from a strip).

I do like that you can share right from the app and I like the photo strip idea but for a paid app I should be able to select layout. Frankly the app admin responses to similar concerns are really snobby sounding and inflexible. I get that you want it to be “traditional” but listen to your customers and what they need.
Tam-atl,
Mixed bag
4 hours into a trial with this app, and to this point it is very much a mixed bag with most features working as advertised, but cannot MMS to a mobile number. Can email photo strips just fine but cannot MMS. With virtually zero online instruction other than a few FAQ, it is trial and error. Grateful that Tim has responded but regret a lack of progress getting this resolved.

Have reviewed iPad settings and not seeing anything amiss.

I worked in tech support many years and appreciate the frustrations on both ends when things do not work as advertised.

Update: our goal is for attendees to be able to send images to their mobile devices using a mobile number. Tech support has just given a well-detailed explanation of why the iOS is working against our goal, so it seems clear that this is an iOS issue and not an issue with the app.

My suggestion is that the developers give more info on the front end to create realistic expectations and avoid frustration, but otherwise I do appreciate the effort.
worktm,
Still love and using it a decade later
This was one of the first few apps I purchased when I got my first iPhone ten years ago. It’s niche, but hugely fun any time I’m with the people I love most. This app’s mechanics are true to the story of classic booth pics, and honestly creates the best wall papers. I only wish the images were higher resolution. I’ve tried to print some and found that the images were too small for an oversized print. (Please make h-res images an option.) Thanks for the fun and helping me capture memories.
Bethy Jeanne,
Great app! Just missing countdown feature
I bought the app along with the party mode option and have been playing with it before we take it live for out wedding. I'm thrilled to have a viable option to diy our own booth versus renting one for hundreds! It's printed flawlessly and I love how it's customizable. The one thing missing is an on screen countdown to let you know when the picture is about to take. Is there an option to show it that I'm just missing? If not, could you add that feature in?
Anubisankh,
Almost Awesome
This is one of the few apps that will create the retro photo booth-style strips. If you pay $5 more, you can even arrange 2 or 3 strips to be printed on a page. But that’s where the trouble starts. Their AirPrint doesn’t work at all. It doesn’t even try to find printers. Interestingly, you can click ‘more’ and one of the share options is ‘print’ - and that works fine. But you can only print one strip per page that way. So don’t waste $5 and plan on a lot of manual sending to the printer. And don’t expect a any customer support. It doesn’t exist.
MagdaJG,
Love it except for one thing...
I’d say the one feature that I find is missing is an actual countdown- the green/red light is really hard to see, and my friends who aren’t used to looking for it have a difficult time with knowing that it’s there and how many photos are being taken. It could be a feature that can be switched on and off, but would be great to have. Otherwise, I really love the app and the features it has. Really fun for parties!
KottonKandi84,
Won’t print
I purchased this app in 2012. I loved it for the experience. I never intended to print them. However, I recently purchased the event package so i could print as we we’re taking the pics. When I pull up the setting to choose a printer, nothing happens. you can click on every other option for printing except for “choose a printer”. I want my money back for the event package at the very least. It’s frustrating that you offer that as an option but the feature doesn’t in fact work.
The two sisters,
PARTY APP-WHAT DID I PAY FOR? Front Facing camera doesn't work
I am trying to use this app for my daughters 13th bday., and there is no option for a front facing camera to see if they fit in the screen. I've tried everything and looked in settings, but still couldn't find a way to make it work. So. I thought maybe I needed to buy the $4.99 party pack to allow that feature, but nope...paid for it, and literally there are no noticeable differences. Why did I just spend that money for no extra features?!?
