- True aim is now in the book of blades, so you can learn it without an extra skill book.
- Forgetting a spell while wielding a staff that imbues it will now properly fail.
- Failing to forget no longer uses a turn.
- Unenchanted weapons and armor which you have found the enchantment of now report +0.
- Objects collapsing into meatballs now properly state if the result is multiple meatballs.
- Tutorial for signpost for kiwis now mentions the hostile tag on the look description.
- Signpost added to surface world.
- Someone to greet you on the surface world.
- Unequippable item slots say No Item slot rather than Empty slot. Empty body slots report the appendage name (left hand, radula, etc)
- + and * by the god reports when praying lets you know how much they like your fashion sense.
- Frogs have a bonus to attack vs insects.
- Silver and gold weapons will occasionally dull if used against non-vulnerable targets.
- Finally added the cute and cuddly triceratops!
- If you id the enchantment of an item by throwing it, now the stack you threw it from wil also be ided.
- Sleeping creatures have a visual indication.
- Swapping worn armour with wielded sword no longer causes you to wear the sword.
- Rolling boulder works on some monsters.
- Fix minor spelling errors
- Full AI state was being cleared when nothing was edible rather than just the single edible bit.
- Dipping nothing into a potion no longer crashes, provided you figured a way to do that in the first place.
- Two or more equipped items with extra attacks now properly stack the chance of invoking the attacks, rather than jumping straight to a 99% chance.
- One new room type.
- Mountain and Hills in Ibson The Grey's tileset are now in their correct positions.

While it has been long since the last release, it is of the usual incremental nature, consisting of minor fixes and one new spell. I'm particularly happy with finally finding a compromise for god-induced flamestrikes - you get a warning now so they are less just an insta-death out of the blue.

If you like POWDER, but are frustrated at the slow rate of development, I strongly recommend checking the rest of the roguelike scene!

- Tower shields are large
- "You cannot hide from I!" is now "You cannot hide from Me!"
- Looking at a square will also describe any smoke there.
- The dig spell now has the side effect of spraying the excavated rock shards, damaging those around you.
- Create Pit spell is now 10 MP rather than 15.
- Blizzards fill the air with sleet and snow, not sleet and slow. Though the latter does describe their special effect nicely.
- New spell: Sandstorm
- If a god decides to flamestrike you, you now should get a few turns warning to prepare yourself.
- Monsters properly check safety of squares before stepping on them.
- If trapped inside a wall without Phase or Breathess, you will
suffocate.
- Helmets should be sorted together now.
- Empty bottles will be filled by down pour now.
- Entomb has a better message when blocked.
- Rocks are created when rocks fall on your head.
- Spells you can't cast have (!) after them in the zap list
- Tossing an item hand to hand no longer takes a turn.
- Spears, knives, and daggers no longer let you equip stacks.
- You are only prompted to throw one spear of a stack.
-The animate forest spell now has its own icon.

Major Changes:

The 12x12 Akoi Meexx tiles have been hand smoothed for a better landscape experience.

You can now email your character's records! This provides a way to get a record of your win without resorting to pen and pencil.

The status bar acting wonky when the iPhone is held flat should be fixed. This might have caused the keyboard not to show up when in this orientation.

Minor Changes:

* Typos in the animate forest description fixed.
* You can no longer petrify or stone to flesh quest items.
* Items that fall in a hole will not be revealed up on the next
level's map.
* Zapping a wand of invisibility at yourself when you are already invisible from a permament source no longer reports "You are invisible."
* No longer falsely get system shock if a creature you possessed, but released when it was polymorphed, is finally slain.
* The Regenerate spell now works for creatures with No Regeneration, as was intended.
* Flesh golems can once more regenerate. (They lost this in the no-regen sweep)
* Giant Spiders have defences better fitting their explevel.
* The earth hammer is now made from stone as you'd expect.
* The spell Summon Daemon now spells Daemon like the rest of POWDER.
* Typo fixed in Golden Tridude description.
* Clarify cave troll description.
* s/byte/sting/ for scorpion description.
* Clarify butcher skill description.
* Water elementals no longer leave corpse.
* Eaten intrinsicly poisonous corpses now has a significantly shorter timeout.
* Attacks which deal multiple types of damage in the same hit will have damage reduction applied to each of the types, rather than only to the first type.
* Vampire bats will no longer chase players which they aren't
interested in.
* Searching due to intrinsics will put Searching on the status line, and multiple manual searches will report Seached x10.
* The torches in the Lomaka tiles have been fixed to show up in the correct hand.
* The Wish command now includes the ability to take on a monster's form and stats, so you can play as a monster if you wish. (Wish only works in the unlocked version)
* On level up, the number of Piety points you have in each class is displayed beside the class name so you can better judge which class to pick.

NOTE: While the highscore is kept, save games are never preserved between versions. Please wait until your current character dies before upgrading.

Change List:

Help menus are no longer off by one.

Remove potential crash when zapping wand of invisibility off map.

Items are no longer revealed by hostiles searching.

Status message "Searched" when you search to make it more clear you did something by searching.

Correct lighting tests for giant mobs along with looser LOS requirements to see them.

No longer crash if a rolling boulder kills the caster and then fills a hole.

You can click-drag on display text to scroll it.

Chris Lomaka's tiles have been updated with some nice new additional icons.

Help menus are platform specific, so GBA users should no longer be taunted with stylus help, etc.

The Akoi Meexx 10x10 and 12x12 tilesets are enabled in SDL builds. The 10x10 has had a round of manual smoothing applied to it.

Status bar on iPhone now rotates and is hidden in landscape mode.

iPhone now uses native keyboard controls.

If you start the game in a room with only secret exits, you are explicitly told that there are secret exits to search for.

semifamous,
Fantastic game in need of an update!
I've been playing iOS games for about 6 years now, and this game is easily the best I've ever played. It's got a steep learning curve, controls that can be moved and customized, and endless replayability. It's a true roguelike, which means you should expect top down dungeon crawling with lots of random elements, permadeath, and many interesting decisions to make! I highly recommend it to everyone who isn't afraid to get used to its initially daunting control system, and of course everyone who knows that good graphics aren't a necessity to a good game. My only issue with it is the near abandonment of it by the developer. This game is in desperate need of a little polish (and wide screen support!). I'm sure every fan if the game would agree that some new weapon, spell, and monster types would be a welcome addition, as would a new sprite set from a professional pixel art designer. Maybe these are just foolish dreams, but I can't help wanting my favorite mobile to get the treatment it deserves!
Owenazuris,
Great Roguelike
This is the best roguelike on the iOS today.

When you first start, you will notice that the graphics are not as good as other iOS Roguelikes and the controls take some getting used to, but no one ever played Roguelikes for the graphics.

Controls do take a little getting used to, and I have on occasion hit the wrong button due to their size.

Aside from that and the lack of sound this game is a perfect fit for the iPhone or iPad. Games are quick, which I like in my Roguelikes. Monsters stats are created randomly, so no two monsters are alike in any game, or even in the same game. This makes the game tense and makes it so each encounter in important, and you are never simply going through a level, slaying every monster you see, knowing you can overpower them, and slowly becoming bored.

Due to this mechanic, death comes quickly and is interesting. I love discussing my deaths in Roguelike games, and this game will give you plenty to talk about. Lots of items and classes and constantly bickering gods are the icing on the cake for this great game.

I have noticed some people complaining about the ten dollar unlock price for a free PC game. The game is free to download and is free up to level 15. If you decend beyond that level, then you have received 10 dollars of fun from this game and the price is not much to ask.

In short, if you enjoy roguelikes, you owe it to yourself to try this game.
Ryuko098,
Surprisingly fun
Just started playing this game, and it's been hard to put down!

Pros:
The game is incredibly robust, with lots of options, a huge game world, and hours of play.
The tutorial is very interactive and quite helpful, especially as there can be a bit of a learning curve if you skip it.
With all the different types of items available, different ways of improving your level, customizing your character, and interacting with the world, it is very immersive; reminiscent of the old PC-Bsed RPGs of the late 80's/early 90's like Rogue, Yendor, and Aethra Chronicles that focus more on gameplay than graphics.

Cons:
The graphics are far from great, although more than good enough for the rogue-style genre of RPGs.
No option for multiple saves.
The extensive tutorial will reset when the window is closed, so it must be completed in one sitting.
Would be nice if it were universal app, making more friendly play on iPads.
S3V3NTH,
Great game, developer fails at unlocking
So Powder is a pretty cool adaptation of my staple gaming addiction, nethack. Sure, the hook of this game (other than the fact that I can play it on my iPad), the deity mechanic, makes it clunky and annoying at times, but other than that it's rather enjoyable. The tile sets are attractive, interface is so-so, and the weapons and monsters could use a little more diversity. All in all it's a playable and repayable game. However, the unbelievably ridiculous thing about this game, and the reason I refuse to give it anything other than 1 star is the fact that the developer can't even get the unlocking right. I have tried at least 10 times to pay the rather ludicrous upgrade price to this guy and i can't do it. I just doesn't work. I am to the point where I don't even want to try anymore. Seriously, it should be easier to pay you for your work than it is to level a necromancer to 20.
1001 ways to fail,
Army of zombies
One of the best rogue-likes I've played. Its really fun raising an army of pets, summoned demons, zombies, charmed monsters, and fighting through the levels. The identification system is simple enough to learn in a few games, and is pretty devious. Also traps.
The interface is customizable, but it has broken frequently and ruined the elaborate button layouts I set. Even with the layout issue I prefer playing this on my iPad over my DS.
Been hoping for updates.
TacoJon,
Infinite replayability
(please reposition the buttons to suit your style of gameplay. - fully customizable control buttons) This nethack redux is very enjoyable on the iphone/ipad. Really deep and super replayable. Makes some minor changes to nethack rules and playability that make it more fun to play than nethack. Randomization is through the roof. I have been playing for 9 months and have gotten to level 14 three times. 1000s of deaths
ScoobyScrub,
Solid multi-platform dungeon crawler
Great game, but some QoL improvements like higher resolution rendering and full screen display would be nice considering the $10 asking price that’s unique to this version. The scaling tends to look a little wonky, regardless of tile set or whether I’m playing in portrait or landscape.
That being said, most people will likely never even get to the point the free version locks out, so I can’t bash it too much.
YaMatha,
One problem
This game is super addictive and has a lot of detail and replay ability. One sole issue I'm having with it which needs to be fixed is with the buttons. Occasionally, when I reopen the game, the buttons will be switched to the completely opposite place they were on the screen, resulting in me having to manually move them back! Please fix this, for a flawless game!
Js1210,
Don't Worry About The Price
Edit: There is a severe problem where the game will occasionally delete your save. It happens often enough to make it a SERIOUS issue. For this reason I cannot recommend Powder until a fix is put in place.

Powder is pretty much the perfect mobile rogue like. Short(about 3 hours for a run), but suitably deep and complex.

The customizable UI is excellent, and it cannot be understated how much it improves the game.

The $10 price point may seem incredibly steep at first, but don't let that scare you off. You probably won't make it that far for awhile, and when you do, you'll have no problem paying Jeff Lait $10 :]

Powder is an excellent roguelike with a lot of interesting mechanics. I feel comfortable recommending it to just about anyone.

Pro-tip:Be sure to add the "Safe Walk" button to your UI, makes the whole game better.
Twitchy4360,
Amazing game
The game is a perfect rouge-like. I don't know how to report bugs, so I'll write it here. As well as the others there is the buttons moving around glitch. I've also seen that when you equip a two handed weapon it will not allow you to equip a shield. Certain weapons by-pass this if you already have the shield equipped.
