An immersive and amusing party rpg
Lots of areas of development one this game to tend to from party to towns. The writing for JV games is always a welcome amusement. If you are experienced not only playing but beating his games I recommend playing it on hard. Though even on normal the end of the game is punishing however still manageable. I don’t know how it will be on hard. I give the guy respect for creating an entirely new game pretty much from the last series. Even though this is not for us more than it is for him as he gets bored. Because there was nothing wrong with the old format he just gets tired of looking at it from what I understand. I wish he would develop it into an MMORPG. For that he would need to expand his team of course from a one man show. However I know he would do it right and he wouldn’t have to worry about money anymore, so he can take more risks with different types of game creation. Because I’m interested to know what else is inside his imagination. Salute to him and his wife.

A Blast from Start to Finish
This is my first spiderweb software game. I've been interested in them for a long time, but it's hard for me to play long point-and-click rpgs on my computer when I already work an office job. When I saw the new one had an iOS release, I dove in immediately.

I completed the game, finishing nearly every quest, and had a blast the whole time. The iOS environment is snappy and feels great (after you turn on manual scrolling). The story is thoughtful and well-written, and the fighting and resource management never stops being fun and strategic. I absolutely love that you can't grind for resources, I actually had to think and do quests to progress.

Great game, great introduction to the Vogel oeuvre. Extremely excited for whatever's next.

Perfect Old School RPG for iPhone
I was skeptical at first that an old-school rpg like this could be played on an iPhone. (I have played all if Spiderweb’s amazing rpgs on the iPad, and the screen usually felt cramped.).

But they have done a really great job of removing the tedious aspects of rpgs that often fill the screen. For example, treasure is clearly marked— no more clicking to pick up every goblet you pass on a table— and valuable items are instantly converted to gold. Sure, less “realism”, but the great tactical combat, character ability customization, and story with real role-playing choices are there.

It also purposely pushes you away from repetitive “grinding”- another choice that had me confused at first, but soon its wisdom became apparent. Since you only get xp from completing quests, if you find an opponent or area hard to beat, you’re pushed into exploring new areas & experiencing new story instead of the default rpg path of repeating battles over and over to level up. (And if you truly feel you’re stuck, you can lower the difficulty to “casual” temporarily.)

If you are a fan of old-school turn-based rpgs, you should definitely pick this one up.
Udssiop,
Great story and easy mechanics.
Well written story. I like the choices the game gives to your world actions and in dialogue. Excellent overall UI when it comes to iPhone. First 2d top down turn based rpg I’ve played on a small iPhone that works well!

The mechanics are okay. They dumbed it down to a simple tech tree with a culture overlay. I was surprised that you can instant reskill, which takes away the risk of choices, in favor of accessibility and playability.

Overall this is the best 2d turn based rpg on a small ios screen I’ve played. I find the game a little pg13 but the stories inside are worth your time. I appreciate the social commentaries in the game that doesn’t try to preach to me. Also this is a nice rpg that you can play at your own pace. Don’t need to sit down for hours. You can play for a minute or two at a time.

Game style clicks with me since I enjoy gold box, classic ultima, bg1/2, fallout1,2, shadowrun games.

This developer deserves to stay in business and make more games. Good work Jeff and team!!

Classic CRPG adventure on the iPhone
Queen’s Wish has the feel of a pc game from the earth 2000s. The menus and game mechanics will be familiar to anyone who has played spiderweb software games on computer. this is a deep and complex game, as can be expected from this developer, with a large world to explore, lots of NPCs with extensive dialog, and some strategy elements that set it apart from their earlier releases. if the $9.99 price tag seems steep just be aware that you are getting a full sized CRPG, not a gimmicky mobile game.
Merelenghe,
It’s still a good RPG
Sad to say that this is, in my opinion, one of Jeff’s weaker games. I can understand trying to streamline some systems and changing the formula a bit, but I think he took it into a direction that not everyone would resonate with. Hearing him on a podcast say that he drew some inspiration from Darkest Dungeons finally makes more sense as to why he made the decision to change the exp system so drastically. I hope there will be a Queen’s Wish 2 and 3, to see more of what Jeff does with the story of the rise and fall of an empire. As it stands, QW1 is a mediocre RPG with some good writing that makes it just worthwhile.

Also, thank you for making an iOS version!

Excellent Story
I've been a fan of Spiderweb since Geneforge, and I'm excited to see them coming to mobile. Hopefully this is the first of many on iPhone.

The story is excellent, and I love the empire management aspect. It would be nice if quests had a more visually dynamic impact on the game world. At the least, it would be nice to have a visual indicator that a place/nest was cleared. The bases add an exciting expansion to RPG choices by making you choose how to upgrade your base based on the resources you have and what you need for equipment and flavor. Excellent game!!

Another Masterpiece from Spidweb
Jeff Vogel is a brilliant artist, whose canvas just happens to be old school RPGs. Everything about the game is so well crafted, from the intricately designed world to the balanced, tactical combat. The story is interesting, and though there’s a lot of text, it reads like a good fantasy novel, and explores moral gray areas you wouldn’t usually see in a game. I’ve poured countless hours into this game, and I’ve loved every minute of it.

Tradition continues
Been a huge fan of Spider Web games since day one and Queens Wish does not disappoint. Really happy playing on my phone and looking forward to new titles.

One request is that game saves could go into iCloud so I could play on laptop at home and pickup in the place on phone on my commute.
Hedden0101,
Not sure what to think...
I’ve spent the last 20 years playing Spiderweb games on PC, Exile, Avernum, Geneforge, Avadon, and now this. This game above all others, takes a drastic new turn in gameplay elements which has never been seen before in a spiderweb game. There’s no need for me to explain the differences because there are so many other reviews that do.

I am not a fan of the game to be honest. I tried my hardest to enjoy this game, I really did. I played it for hours hoping I’d find something to like about it. Is it a good/bad game? That depends entirely on you.
