Anyone can put a bunch of movie posters together and call it an app. The app is garbage
I expect things to work. This app does not. I jumped through the first hoop of logging in but now the app is saying I’m not on the same WiFi network as my box. So it thinks I’m away from home.
From what I can see the UI is bad too. The concept of live tv on the RCN app my iPad just isn’t there. “Get this show”. Has no meaning to me, I just want to watch it right now.
If you are actually trying to watch TV using this app don't bother it is not designed for that AT ALL. It DOES NOT STREAM TV AT ALL. It is just a set of movie posters and links to external websites that require a login.

Logging into various tv apps doesn’t even work half the time. You will also be forced to login to apps on your cable box connected tv as well. Twc doesn’t make you do this at all. When it comes to apps in general RCN looks like a total amateur and they don’t appear to care nor make any changes to their system at all. Couple of months as a customer and nothing has changed. Login everywhere and hope it works.

It’s 2020 and RCN apps are still failing
Issue #1: Immediately after downloading the app I was put on a 30minute suspension for entering the wrong login info too many times. I only enter my login info once though. How is that I’m suspended and this is my first time opening the app and first attempt even trying to login? Issue #2: After being allowed to login, the app sends me straight to my billing statement. Isn’t this app supposed to allow me to stream programs? Why does it keep sending me to billing when I have no unpaid bills? Where are the options to browse TV programs? Issue #3: Tried to download the RCN Mobile App to see if that offers something different. (It doesn’t fyi) Why does RCN have two apps that do the exact same thing, both of which are entirely useless? Maybe I should have stayed with Xfinity. Xfinity is way over priced but at least their services work.
Update: Basically a year lately and still nothing regarding these app work.

It’s almost pitiful
I am a college student and go out of state for school. The one little bit of home I indulge in is high school football games. I heard the games were live-streamed on the RCN app and wanted to watch for myself, not listen to a podcast of the game. Much to my dismay, this app is probably the saddest excuse for a streaming service I have ever seen. You either need to be on the same network as your main box, or airplay directly to that box. So you’re telling me .. the only time I can watch something live on my phone .. is at home .. in front of my TV with RCN…? Absolutely ridiculous. The one piece of home I wanted and I can’t get it. I feel bad for whatever half baked, brain dead developer had to design this. Seriously…

Way behind the competition
So I recently switched from Spectrum to RCN looking to try out a competitor and was excited when I saw that RCN too had an app for, what I thought was live TV. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The app is pretty useless except to maybe quickly scroll through the guide and then play what I find on the TV. There is no option to actually watch Live TV on my phone or tablet which is bizarre to me since Spectrum had this option on its TV app. In this regard RCN is way behind the pack and I hope they find a solution thats better than making you download ALL the cable channel apps to then log into each one in order to watch Live TV. I’d have to switch from app to app to change “channels”... this app is a sad excuse for a TV provider App.

Piece of S#&@ Shuts Cable Down
This app not only is useless but actually shuts my cable box down. when I try to stream to my iPad while at home and on the same network as my cable box, the app shuts down making it useless and a waist. But if that wasn't enough, my cable box then reboots and I lose cable for several minutes. Happened several times. Deleted and reinstalled the app. Waited a week. Tried again. I am able to repoduce the exact same results every time. Clearly the app is just a Piece of S#&@. I’m sorry if you are stuck with RCN. No need to inflict more pain upon yourself by downloading this worthless junk.

AWWWWWFUL!!!
This app is terrible! I have tried to use it multiple times over the years as I’ve been a long time subscriber to RCN. I pay a ton for my usage and I can’t even use the mobile app that they offer to watch my shows that I have even paid extra to watch while I’m not at home.I saw the overall ratings, and I agree with them. You would think they would do something about it by now, but apparently they really don’t care! I’m about to switch back to my previous provider and I thought THEY were terrible, But they are actually looking much better at this point.

I changed providers because I relocated from nyc to PA. Was stoked when I saw that RCN had an app where I could watch my favorite tv show...BOY WAS I WRONG!! Once I log in, the only options on the app is account settings and the main page has advertisements. NO OPTIONS TO WATCH TV, NONE AT ALL! I try logging into RCN on the Showtime App so that I could watch my fav. show from there instead, and get the same exact results as I did logging in on RCN. Annnnd I can’t even watch the show because it doesn’t stay logged in on Showtime.
STEP UP YOUR GAME RCN... hire better app developers or something because this is unacceptable. Don’t advertise a service your INCOMPETENT to provide (>__<) !

Absolutely disappointed
I left Xfinity and went to RCN hoping for a better price and better channels choices and RCN was able to provide that, but the only problem I have is this app. How can you have a app which sole purpose is to take your shows on the road with you but it won’t allow you to watch anything if you are not connected to your home wifi. Can someone please explain to me how does that make any sense. It’s absolutely disappointing to say the least. Since I am almost always on the road and can’t watch my favorite show, I will have no other choice but to leave RCN because it’s absolutely ridiculous.

I’ve read “the developer response” to a few feedback submitted here and they seem to be proud of responding, “You can watch love TV from your home”. What is the point? Streaming my shows while I’m home is useless, unless I’m sitting on the toilet. Otherwise, I have 2 TV sets to watch from, while I’m AT HOME. RCN, what are your product owners doing? Are they even doing the right research? Wait, unless you have old systems an you’re not able to upgrade them to the latest technology. Anyway, like i said, backward thinking.

No More Complains, does exactly what I need
First, I use this App only at home. So I can't speak to its abilities as it relates to watching stuff away from home.
Also, I recommend you delete and reinstall the app if you have not done so in a while. It solved my connection issue.
So what am I using it for?
I use the App mainly to find and program stuff quickly, and as a remote control. For that it does a great job.
It has also improved greatly when it comes to speed.
Also, you can now use face ID to log in.
I had no crashes in a long time.
