This has been an amazing kakuro era and time to celebrate Real Kakuro's second anniversary. We are thrilled to update this game once more with new features and puzzles.

A fascinating game, expertly implemented
I’ve been a fan of logic puzzles for most of my life, but I’d never heard of kakuro until recently. After trying it once I was an instant fan. Don’t let the math intimidate you: this is a direct relative of sudoku. Apart from the fairly simple sums, kakuro follows the same basic sudoku-style formula. You establish possibilities and then eliminate the impossibilities.
This isn’t the only implementation of Kakuro out there, but it may be the best. Real Kakuro provides a beautiful, functional interface that doesn’t get in the way of the game itself. It offers optional guidance to completely eliminate the need to solve the addition problems, but this is easily disabled. In short, it’s simple, it’s fun, it’s great.

Updated (see []). Kakuro is one of my favorites so I’m picky. This implementation is well done. I can’t quite consider it a 5 star for a minor but somewhat annoying reason - the number keys are rather small so I hit the wrong number a lot. I believe there is room to make them slightly bigger. This just isn’t a reason for me to mark it a 4 however, so I rated a 5. I’m hoping the keys can be made larger. The ads are handled well and are not too obtrusive [change that- they get obtrusive. If I turn off sound so I can play discretely, the ads should not blast out in high volume between every game with clown-like music. So now I’ll decide if I can live with the small keys and purchase the ad-free version cause I can’t live with the blasting ads.] I do like to support a great developer anyway.

Update needed!!
I am having a great deal of problems with the app since the last Apple IOS update. I have had a few issues with the two updates prior to this, but it is horrible this time. A majority of the time when I complete a puzzle it kicks me out of the app. When it doesn’t, it shows me the ad, then allows me to open a new puzzle, but will not let me play until it kicks me back out or I close it and open it back up. Finally, two times now, I have had it go to the ad then instead of closing it, get a black screen with the Google ad in the top inch and black screen for the rest and it does not do anything. I cannot play at all right now, even closing it down and going back in is not resetting it!!

Great value
I gave this five stars because it deserves it for what you get. There are so many puzzles, you will never run out. It doesn’t ask you for money. I guess there are ads, but they never bother me. I was doubtful they could be challenging enough while still being small enough to fit on the phone, but definitely some of them are. My one big wish: please please please give us an undo button! Sometimes I will discover a flaw in logic after I’ve already made a number of entries based on it. I need the ability to back up several moves because there’s no way to remember everything I need to correct.

Starting on my 2nd time through!
Love Kakuro! Used to play this years ago in Games magazine before it went overseas and got renamed. Finished all the levels and have started my 2nd time through the game. This is a well done app and the games are appropriate for each level. The only issue I’ve run into, is that if I play too long without restarting the app, it will suddenly go back to the main screen and appear to have lost all progress on all levels. If I close and restart, everything is fine, but it was heart stopping the first few times it happened. Anyway, I highly recommend this game (and any others from “Real”.) Thanks for the awesome game, guys!!

Best Kakuro online, but it crashes
This is the best Kakuro app on iTunes and it has been for a really long time now. Other apps are a mix of crossums, Ken-Ken, and Sudoku, but this one is all Kakuro. U get all of the puzzles too, not just a couple, all of em, for free.
I just recently re-downloaded, since that’s the only way to clear the board and start over. I play with my Internet off. Since this last download, the game will stop showing the top row of clues, let me finish the round, and crash, making me start the round over. Seems like it does it whenever it would play an ad. I’d be furious if I had watched the ad and then the app crashed, but I never play this with my internet active.

Kakuro game
I used to do these puzzles in Dell puzzle magazines many years ago. They were called cross-sums there. This was long before Sudoku became popular. Sudoku puzzles were included in the magazine as well even then, but they were called number-place. Nice to see both become widely played!
You can remove ads for $2.99, but most are easy to put up with. However, some are “sticky” in that it is hard to get back to the game. I will NEVER play Royal Match for just this reason. Others stay around for 20 seconds - too long - 10 will do just fine. Make your choice, but play Kakuro!

Possibly the best mind game invented
Without a doubt my go to when I need some me time! I’ve completed all of the Extreme level games first, then the Challenging, almost done with the Hard level and I think I’ll go back and redo the Extreme level again once I’ve completed all of the hard level games just to keep my mind intact for as long as possible. Love, love, love this game; and yes, just like another viewer wrote this is a cousin to sudoku which I mastered years ago, but this requires math skills, with 45 being the highest possible sum, so yeah you got this! I love a challenge!

Great game, intrusive ads
This is a well written, well laid out, great game, five stars. Four stars off for the really intrusive push of ads and constant suggestions for other games of this shop, including timer which forces one to stare at it for a generous amount of time before it can be clicked away. It even downloads and starts to play commercial videos - from a data plan I pay for?! Also, no settings to regulate what it does? Game does not save scores when in airplane mode to prevent this kind of intrusions.
I understand that the maker wants to make money, that's legitimate and not unreasonable. However, other game companies are much more reasonable in their use of ads, they are not pushing. If the game is good, I'll still buy it. In this case I'm so put off that I'll remove the game despite of it's appeal and won't install any other app from this maker again.

If you like Kakuro, this is a great app to pick up.
Each level has enough games in it to keep you busy for a long time. And if you do play a lot, you'll probably find the next level beckoning to you. And there's also the challenge of re-visiting problems you solved early on, to see if you can beat your old score. (Trust me, it will seem like you're playing it for the first time, again.)
