Description

Our team spent almost two years researching the best photo locations in the world. On top of that, we had thousands of photographers around the world submit their favorite photo locations.

The result is Really Good Photo Spot--an unmatched database of incredible places around the world to take photos--with spots in nearly every country on the planet.

The app makes it easy to find locations near you, search locations in a far-off place, or submit your own locations.

With the premium features upgrade, you can remove ads, save spots for offline access when you're in the field shooting, create and organize spots into "trips", and get powerful advanced search tools like searching by star rating and distance.

Plus, you can create a profile and offer day trips in your area when other photographers see your work and want to hire you to show you around.

Wwhowe,
Really Wanted to Like
I listen to the podcast and I Really wanted to like this app and was so ready to upgrade to the paid version. But I just don’t see how I can use the app very well.

My issue is the same that some others have indicated. By choosing to NOT have a map display of all results, I just can’t tell which location are near each other. So I can’t plan on which locations to visit. If the app had a map view, I could find the one location I would really like to visit, then see what other locations may be nearby or on the way driving to that location. Without a map feature, I just don’t find myself using the app.

A map feature would make it worth paying for, but I know many people would like to try out the feature before purchasing. I will keep checking to see if you are able to improve it, but I know it would be expensive to modify.
Shepherd517,
Good app, UI is extremely rudimental
I don’t really like his podcast because many of his opinions are against mine and he just seems pretentious and always interrupts his guest speakers. But this app is ok.

The idea of this app is really good, and this app does almost everything it intends to. But I find the user experience extremely poor. The interface is like a 19th century 586 computer software, GPS acquisition takes a long time, and I don't believe its limited by iPhone's hardware because other apps that need very exact coordinates are so much faster than this app, which I imagine only need a rough location. The search tab need much work, when I type in "chi" it started to suggest foreign unheard-of cities instead of Chicago. It's also very annoying and confusing that type in "return" doesn't take me directly to search results, instead I need to close keyboard, click on the search button; quite often this didn't work either, and I had to summon the key board, click "return" again, and click that big old search button again.
A listner,
Almost there...
The app itself is a great idea. Crowed funding excellent shooting locations... However, there are issues with it. First the filtering does not seem to work. It defaults to four and five star locations yet one star locations show up in the feed.

I would also like to be able to add additional information to an entry, but I’ve been unable to find any way to do this. Especially when the information that needs to be added would help individuals get better shots.

I also agree with one of the raters who said a map function would be useful, For example a search near my house can return a several locations that are within the same distance but you have no way of knowing if both are in the same direction. If one is to the south and one is to the north...you have a major issue if you want to shoot both.
Shooter1438,
Close, but not quite there...
Really want to like this app, but it needs a couple tweaks. It really needs a map view so you can see what locations are close to one another to be able to plan trips. That’s really where I’m hung up and have to give it a two star rating. This is a great idea, love the concept and I would have no problem giving this a 4 or 5 star rating once it has a maps feature, but until that time, it’s something I can live without.
Kunja Knight,
Requires personal info before 1st use
No one can actually try this app without first being forced to divulge their names and email addresses. I immediately uninstalled the app. Had it on my phone for a grand total of about 15 seconds. Sad, because it's a brilliant concept. One that would be VERY helpful and popular with the photo community (if properly executed).

Recommendation: Update the "free" version so anyone can use it without having to first hand over their personal info. Require personal info from people only when they opt in for the premium version.
ms2thdr88,
Used to be great
I guess the app isn’t supported anymore despite my paying for it. I loved using this app when I went on vacation to find interesting places to photograph. Now, no matter what place I put in the location search it gives me an laces within 50 miles of my home.

Sad to see such a useful app become a relic and even worse I’m sorry I have paid this years fee.
bab1924,
Great concept but frustrating that the subscription is broken
Great app idea but poor execution of the subscription. I was wanting to support Improve Photography by subscribing because I love the podcasts and website. I like the idea of saving sites for an upcoming trip, etc. which is the benefit for subscribing. But as others have said, the subscription is broken and I’m left feeling taken advantage of. $10 for an app that doesn’t unlock the subscription features is a waste.
PhelineCat,
Great idea
Bad start to say "great idea … " I live in a beautiful location but there's almost nothing shown. I wanted something close to where I was recently but I ended up on Google maps and said "that outta work" and it did. It was downhill from an oft used place and had some surprises but I'm not the only one here.
IrishEMT,
Great idea but lacking
I purchased this in February right before a long trip hoping to find some great places to stop on the way however, every time I open the app it asks me to buy the subscription but if I try to buy it again it says it’s already purchased. I waited hoping an update would fix the issue but 4.5 months later still nothing. I’m about to go on a really long trip and had hoped to use this. Very frustrating.

Dead app?
I’ve had this app since the beginning. Tried to subscribe but don’t know what happened. The big down side to this app is there are no new locations. I only see a few locations that were added early on, but no new locations. No new reviews or any new content since the beginning. It seems like a broken app. I’m pretty bummed that’s this app seems broken and abandoned. I keep checking the app for new content but it is like a ghost town.
