Description

Rehearsal® Pro is the #1 best-selling app for professional actors!

Want to learn your lines? Want to be off-book, and book more work? Grab Rehearsal® Pro now!

Rehearsal® Pro is the app for that. It, and its predecessor, Rehearsal® 2, featured in the New York Times, Fast Company, LA Magazine and BACKSTAGE, became the entertainment industry standard for cast and crew to organize their scripts for auditions and working on set. Battle tested in Hollywood and around the world by professional actors and acting students.

And now, there's Rehearsal® Pro.

"I love this app! Rehearsal® lets me learn my lines in the car while I drive to work. It already saved my butt when I was thrown a major new dialogue scene 45 minutes before we started shooting it. I plugged the new scene into Rehearsal and I was off book by the time I got out of the make up chair." -Clark Gregg (Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Desperate Housewives, New Adventures of Old Christine)

"I am very pleased with the results of using Rehearsal® so far. It is a powerful tool in preparing for auditions, or for days of work, especially when I am pressed for time. It is easy to use and I have no doubt that as it evolves, it will be a part of my work process for a long time." -John Carroll Lynch (Shutter Island, Dexter, The Drew Carey Show, Body of Proof)

Hey there, Pros! Here's what we've included in this update:

1. We've updated how the app handles external information via web view pages.

2. We hammered down some errant nails in how the app works in iOS 14.

3. The eraser tool was having a moment, so we had a chat with it and it's much better now.

4. We had an issue with Line Set recording that is no longer an issue.

5. There was a bit of a discrepancy with page numbers when scrolling that we've taken care of.

6. Once you'd scribbled something, the app thought its job was done. We disabused it of that notion.

And we stay on top of the usual nips here and tucks there to keep you running smoothly. Plus, we're always working on other improvements.

VERY IMPORTANT: if you're having difficulty, don't leave us a bad review. Instead, view the Help files (just tap on the Help button on the main menu), or visit:

https://help.rehearsal.pro (or just tap the HELP button on the main menu of the app)

...where we've got tutorials, how-to's, FAQ's, videos and more - as well as a Help Message form. Use that - we'll get right back to you.

Please set your preference for updates to your apps to be automatic. We want you to always have the latest and greatest Rehearsal® Pro! To do so, go to Settings > iTunes & App Store on your device. Under Automatic Downloads, enable Apps.

While you’re using the app, we wouldn’t ever want to interrupt your rehearsals by asking you to rate and review us. However, if you find Rehearsal® Pro useful in your acting practice, please take a moment to give us a nice rating and review in the App Store. It really helps. Thank you!

Enjoy! All of us here just shouted, "Break a leg!"

Hey there, Pros! Here's what we've included in this update:

1. If you rename your scene, we won't reorder the date and time the scene was created.

2. Behold the much smoother and useful Scribble tool.

3. The beatmark thing was getting a little crazy, so we had a chat with it and it's much better now.

4. We also put some safeguards in place for when your hand is resting on your device and you're highlighting or scribbling.

5. There were a couple of situations where crashes occurred during syncing. We asked those situations to stop doing that, and they have complied.

2. Changed the Facebook/Twitter share option to be more modern.

3. Fix My Scripts swipe-to-delete on iOS12

4. Improved the GoTo page function

6. Fix scene Playback/Record device rotation so that the controls mirror themselves no matter what position your device is in.

7. Fixed CarPlay so that it doesn't re-open should you change orientation

8. Improved Bluetooth playback on newer cars

Hey there, Pros! Here's what we've been working on for this update:

1. Tweaks to make sure Rehearsal® Pro plays nicely with iOS 13.

2. We made the login screen a wee bit less confusing for users that are somewhat confused by login screens.

3. The Lineset re-record button is now a different, more clear icon, that looks nothing like a sync icon. I mean, who would do that? Create a recording icon that looks a lot like a sync icon? I know we wouldn't, that's for sure.

Hey there, Pros! Here's what we've been working on for this update:

1. Thanks to the help of one of your fellow users, Mr. Curt Johnson, we were made aware of a nasty bug that would make render comments as blank when syncing. We finally tackled that issue and wrestled it into submission. Thank you, Curt!

2. We simplified the deletion of scripts, and the display of script names, along with a couple of minor cosmetic touch ups to the My Scripts screen.

3. You'll notice a new main menu layout, in advance of a really awesome announcement we'll be making soon, that will change the way you use Rehearsal® Pro. Stay tuned for that!

Hey there, Pros! Here's what we've been working on for this update:

2. We've made some stability fixes to the syncing process for those of you who are really fast with your markup, and then disconnect from the Internet. No one wants to lose markup, right?

2. The new iPad Pro has a new area at the bottom of the new screen to protect in iOS 12 and above, so we added new code to give new respect to this new issue. Who new, right?

Hey there, Pros! Here's what we've been working on for this update:

1. Ever get in your car to head over to an audition or work, and decried the useful but tiny controls that show more of your script, but aren't easily or safely used when driving? Maybe you wished there was a bright, shiny Car Mode in Rehearsal® Pro, with big, can't-miss-em buttons to work the most needed playback controls stress free?

Guess what. Yep. You got it. Car Play mode. BAM!

Open a scene in My Scenes that you've recorded, and tap on the little CAR icon in the upper right hand corner. Play, pause, and +/- 10 seconds if you just want to move forward or backward a bit in the scene. And a big old X to get out of Car Play mode.

Inorite? Enjoy.

Hey there, Pros! Here's what we've been working on for this update:

1. We fixed the hugely large text comment boxes when using larger devices, like iPad Pros.

2. You now have an easier time of erasing highlights and scribbles - the screen locks if you want to remove more than one by swiping from one piece of markup to another.

3. And we've been working hard to make the Apple Pencil as elegantly implemented as we can, so behold the new smoothness, and Force Touch integration - press harder, and get a wider stroke. Isn't it glorious?

And the usual nips here and tucks there to keep you running smoothly. Plus, we're always working on other improvements.

Hey there, Pros! Here's what we've been working on for this update:

1. We redesigned the player portion of Linesets so you could see more of the line itself, should you choose to rename each line.

2. We've made recording Linesets even better by giving you more room to see the final lines in your scene, without them being hidden by the recording controls. Whew!

3. And if you decide you really didn't want to change the names of your scripts, we now give you the option of cancelling the whole renaming thing.

And the usual nips here and tucks there to keep you running smoothly. Plus, we're always working on other improvements.

Hey there, Pros! Here's what we've been working on for this update:

1. We'll now let you know with an on-screen message when a weak connection to the 'net results in files failing to sync 3 times in a row. You'll be told to move to a better connection before syncing will resume.

2. We've made Linesets even better, with an updated user interface, and we've added an enable/disable icon to the left of each line, which you can use to turn on/off specific Lines during playback - like when you know your lines and you don't need them played. We also made it easier to rename Linesets and lines.

Hey there, Pros! Here's what we've been working on for this update:

Hey there, Pros! Here's what we've been working on for this update:

We've updated the look of Bookmarks, and made sure they are in order of where they point to in your script. The pXX number at the beginning of each is the actual page in the document (which almost never matches the page number printed in the script) where the bookmark appears. So, if on page 43 you create a bookmark and call it "Scene 6 - At The Office", it will show up in the list of bookmarks as "p43 Scene 6 - At The Office").

We've made some improvements to syncing and to the permissions process.

We also have made some refinements to the choices presented when you want to add either Photo Comments or Video Comments from your Photos Library.

And we're always working on other improvements.

Hey there, Pros! Here's what we've cooked up for this update:

We've vastly simplified syncing. So much so, that we removed the SYNC button, because Rehearsal® Pro will now sync automatically. No muss no fuss! You'll still need to pull down synced scripts and scenes to other devices, but the upload of your markup, scene audio and more will happen automatically. And watch the little yellow and green arrows to see it happening (yellow means there's syncing to be done, and green means the syncing is happening). Cool, right? We know!

We also fixed a couple of bugs - there USED TO BE a "dead" zone on the edges of the screen where you couldn't apply markup, but...NO MORE! And...we fixed an issue some people had with bookmarks not taking them to the right point in the script. GONE!

And we're always working on other improvements.

David Jon,
Leaves a lot to be desired
Great app in theory, but often doesn’t work to full capacity. Seems a bit deceitful to make the scanning process for adding scripts to be a camera icon, only to inform you upon clicking on it that you need to download an Adobe app to actually scan the script now. But I did that. Problem is, once you’ve completed the scanning process and followed all the steps provided, it’s still 50/50 whether the “Import to Rehearsal Pro” option will show up on your menu bar. And that’s important, because if you try to send the PDF to Rehearsal Pro when it doesn’t explicitly say “Import to Rehearse Pro,” it doesn’t work whatsoever. So I tried another method that’s suggested of using the email created when I made an account for the purpose of adding a script. The script after several minutes does show up in the app, but when I try to add it, despite re-emailing it several times, I still get the error message “Error writing file.” I like the app when it works, but right now charging $20 for...this...is simply insulting. I want the app to succeed really badly, because it’s a useful tool. But quite frankly it’s just a headache right now
P-Lambert,
Couldn’t book without it!!!
I have used Rehearsal Pro for years now and can’t imagine my life without it! I had no idea I would use it as often as I do. I have always been “old school” by using paper and highlighter … and sneaking a peek while I’m driving! The Rehearsal Pro is a game changer. Over the years, I have walked hundreds of miles with my earbuds in listening to lines and responding aloud. People just think I’m talking on the phone! I also use it in the car on long drives or just around town. David‘s videos on how to set up the app are very useful. The turnaround time for the app to receive my script and it be available for rehearsal is phenomenal. It has never disappointed. I recommend this app to everyone in the industry!!
Shippoopi,
If you follow the instructions…
You’ll probably fix whatever issue it is you’re having. All you have to do is take five minutes out of your day to make sure none of your issues have already been answered in their app FAQ/help page and then after doing that you can email them with your very detailed question. I just did this and David was extremely patient, quick to respond and helpful. We solved my issue which resulted in uninstalling the app, reinstalling, turning my phone off then back on, and then re-signing into the app and it was that simple. Thanks David!
IowaTom,
I appreciate having this app
Nothing in this world is perfect, nada, zip, zero. And having a coffee stained, dog eared and likely missing script is one of those imperfections. This app is not perfect, so why five stars? Because it strives to be the perfect solution for managing scripts and it keeps improving and David H. Lawrence XVII is accessible and responsive.... on a Friday night! I appreciate having this app to manage multiple scripts, and multiple versions of the same script. It just works. And when it doesn’t, they fix it, or fix you, as it’s likely user error anyway. This is the best thing going for the dedicated amateur and I suspect for the seasoned pro alike.
Deb_MSW,
Great app!
I’m in a community theater play and have a short time to learn a lot of lines, cues, etc. Very glad I found Rehearsal Pro. I’ve had no problems using it because the video and text instructions make it easy. Plus, the setup helps me learn my part as well. We’ve only had four rehearsals and I’m almost off book for Act 1, Scene 1 which has lots of dialog and movement. By the way, I’m in my early 70’s and had concerns that I’d have difficulty memorizing. Not going to be a problem. Thanks, David H. Lawrence XVII!
shannsuko,
Best App for actors hands down!
I have had this app for like 10 years now. It is by far the best one out there and is a must for all actors. I have used it for auditions, tv/film and stage. It has literally saved me when I’ve had multiple projects going. It offers multiple ways to learn lines and organize scripts. I have no idea why any professional would give this app a bad review. If I could give it 10 stars I would.
Duciczy,
Used to work great
I used to love this app, but it has gotten continuously more glitchy, to the point where I have finally given up on its usability.

My most recent problem is that the scrolling feature that used to work so well doesn’t line up anymore with the lines I’m working on.

Previous issues I’ve encountered (and learned to live with): the app will sometimes freeze while I’m recording lines, leaving either a pregnant, unwanted pause, or a complete app crash halfway through a long recording session.

If something happens on my phone midway through a recording (a phone call or text), the app would crash and I’d have to start over. Airplane mode is your friend here.

The app for some reason will not connect to my car’s Bluetooth or USB. It worked fine in my previous vehicle, but it’s not universal.

In short, this was a great app 5 years ago. Unfortunately, it isn’t maintained well enough to keep up with technology changes. I’m looking for an alternative.
bobjaffe,
Update - Still the best actor app
I've been using Rehearsal Pro almost daily since it was released and it is invaluable!! Plus, the support is excellent. I can't imagine any working actor not using Rehearsal Pro.
UPDATE: Still my daily go-to app. Yes, there have been glitches over the years, but I have ALWAYS gotten a quick response to my concerns when I write and they are always resolved in the next update. I am still a huge fan.
Acting on the go,
An incredible tool!
I believe I have been using this tool for AT LEAST 10 YEARS! Of course my memory may be off a tad ALL THE MORE REASON WHY THIS HAS BECOME MY GO TO! I cant say enough about the value. Yes, there were bugs early on but EVERYTIME I expressed an issue the team IMMEDIATELY responded and provided help. I am shocked everyone (especially in the biz) isn’t using it!
Jerry OD,
Only app I use.
I have been using this app for auditions for a few years now. Its the only one that is easy to navigate, highlight, record and download the scripts. Record , and just let it play over and over and you’ll be off book in a day! I have a recurring role on Showtime’s Billions and Mr. robot and I have to give some credit to Rehearsal Pro. Jerry D. O’Donnell.
