Description

Want to practice your rhythm tapping skills? In circles you can listen to a rhythm while you watch a visualization of the rhythm using colourful circles. Tap back the rhythm as you hear it, then see how you did. You can also listen to the rhythm along with the rhythm you tapped to see how they compare. Five difficulty levels will keep you on your toes - the later levels are really challenging!

Tonic Tutor keeps track of your game results, including detailed information for each question you answer. Find out how you're doing over time: tell at a glance what you need work on and see how much your skills are improving!

MrGoodReviews,
Great idea; poor execution.
I wish this worked as well as I had hoped, but I just have a hard time imagining my students using this without a ton of guidance. You need to listen to their rhythm, catch the pulse, tap the pulse, then mimic the rhythm at exactly the right tempo without any aid from a metronome.

When repeating the rhythm, there is a small circle that appears when you touch the screen and grows into a larger circle. I am always a bit unsure of what registers as a “touch” when using rhythm apps like these, and this is effectively a visually deleted effect that makes it worse.

Similarly, a small circle grows and changes color with each beat of the rhythm that is to be imitated. Same problem; it obfuscates the beat.

In my studio, by the time a child is experienced enough to overcome these obstacles, this app is not challenging enough.
