Hi everyone.

The new iOS 11 is coming soon but sadly Right Note is beyond updating to run on it :(

The good news is that for the last months of its life I decided to give it out free :)

It's an educational app and a lot of musicians found it very helpful so it's best for as much people to have a go with it instead of just "killing" it. If you will want to use it after the release of iOS 11 you have to save some device with an older iOS.

And if you like the app and would have gladly bought it for the full price but cant (as it's free) you can check out my other apps: "Tangled FX" photo effect and "BaM Video Delay" sports app.

Thanks to all of you and have fun with Right Note.

ON-OFF switch not working ?
There is a small compatibility glitch with iOS 10 but there is a workaround:
- first TAP the switch to the state you want
- then DRAG the switch by the knob to the opposite state

Although the second step is counterintuitive this makes the TAP to get through the iOS to the app.

@ Right Note - An ear training app for learning Interval, Pitch and Melody recognition

REVIEW BY Lhp1:
@@@@@ The best ear training app so far
I used to say that I would never spend more than 10 bucks with an app, but after trying the lite version I had to get this one. I love it, good job.

Featured in US "What's Hot"

WHAT CRITICS SAY:
I found Right Note to be worth a special mention, primarily due to the inclusion of the microphone
This is what really counts here: the ability to develop your relative pitch and use it in context on your instrument

[iosmusician.blogspot.com]
This feature {microphone recognition} is what sets the app apart from all the rest, especially in Melody mode
Right Note helps you develop that 'sixth sense,' or 'instinct,' needed to figure out what note is where, with out even thinking about it
Brilliant 5/5

WHAT'S UNIQUE ABOUT RIGHT NOTE ?

@ Microphone recognition
now you can play using your own instrument

@ Your not just answering questions
before each lesson you can train hearing given intervals with random root and notes in different octaves to get the feel

@ You learn from your mistakes
after a mistake you can analyze the right and wrong answer instead of just moving to the next question

@ Melody dictation
intervals and pitch is a good practice but your main goal is melody recognition

@ Intervals in context
so you know your intervals but can't hear them in a melody? Try out this exercise to bridge the gap

@ Highly customizable
a wide range of settings and options giving you the much needed freedom outside the given lessons

KEY FEATURES:
- Four exercise modes: Interval, Interval in context, Pitch and Melody
- Highly customizable settings
- Note range from C1 to C8
- Lessons for all modes, from beginner to expert
- Learn from your mistakes: retry all you want or use the show answer option
- Train listening to random intervals and pitch to get the feel
- Choose between controllers for a different approach: pads, full keyboard, "octave" keyboard
- Easily scrollable keyboard with a visual scrollbar showing the full keyboard
- Music notation - choose between American or European notation and shift octave numbers
- Bonus virtual piano

MICROPHONE:
- New way to answer instead of using GUI controls
- Great to get the feel of a live instrument
- Detects wide range of notes - from C1 to even C8
- Octave equivalence option
- Tested on pianos, guitars, flute, harmonica and other
- If you plug in a mic you can still use the built-in speaker

+ Help for all Options and Settings
Starting up from version 1.0 up to today there came new and new features. A lot of them thanks user feedback through the support mail :)

Right Note is getting a bit complicated and not every option can be explained just with a short name. That's why now you have a "Help & Tips" for each of them. Just press the name or "?" icon next to it.

+ 180 spin
Now Right Note works in both landscape positions. Sorry for overlooking it, especially for the iPad. Thanks Birgit and Scott for pointing out that it didn't work well combined with a smart cover that can be attached only from one side.

+ New graphics
Time finally came for a face lift of all the UI. Now with a nice wooden finish. Hope you like it :)

+ iPad support
Not your average x2 mode. Right Note now is universal and has native support for iPad. Even comes with retina display for all iPad 3 users.

+ Microphone octave equivalence
New option for intervals and melody mode. Turn this on if you just want to play the right note but don't care about in which octave it should be. This is good news for anybody playing instruments that have their note range higher or lower than a piano.
Big thanks to Vance for suggesting this new feature.

+ Some bug fixes
Thanks Jiten for finding the screeching bug in Intervals in Context.

+ iOS 5 support fix
Thanks to Enrique for pointing it out. Again, we listen to the feedback sent to us. Feel free to use the Help & Support button :)

1.3
+ New mode - Intervals in context
Mastered all your intervals, up and down, but still can't hear them in a melody? Here's a new mode to help you make that in-between step. You can choose to have a random note before and/or after the interval you are guessing. Now you have to really "feel" an interval.

+ Small fixes
If you experienced occasional hiccups when playing sound, it's gone. If you didn't then every thing is still OK :). Also some issues with low memory were handled so no more disappearing keyboard.

If you are enjoying Right Note and the new updates please be sure to rate or write a review on App Store.

Thank you everybody for the support.

+ Microphone:
It's time for a big step. Let us introduce The Microphone. Now you can use your own instrument to play the answer in each mode.
This greatly enhances learning how to play by ear. Try it out and let us know what you think about sending an email through "Help & Support".

The microphone was tested on pianos, guitars, harmonica, flute, tuba and even on an accordion :) The full range of each instrument is recognized. In case the the microphone does not recognize the notes properly please look in the "Help & Support"->"Microphone tips".

+ Play errors on Pitch:
You can turn off playing wrong answers while in Pitch Mode. Now you have to rely on your absolute pitch recognition all the way.

+ Use speaker with plugged mic:
If you plug in a microphone or headset you can still use the device speaker for playback, just turn on this option. This is good news especially if you are a 2nd or 3rd generation iPod user as you have to plug in some kind of microphone.

+ Music notation:
Now you can change the octave of the notes. Select if
A = 440Hz should be noted A3, A4 or A5. Also if you felt left out now there is also the European note names (B is H)

+ Quick Answering
Now you can turn off the popups when answering. A good answer will automatically move you to the next question and a wrong one to retrying.

+ Keep Errors On Retry
Turn this on so all mistakes are marked red when retrying.

+ "Poke Around" Feature For Melody
If this is turned on you have to hold a key longer to be accepted. Thanks to this you can poke around the keyboard before inputting your answer.

+ Retry All You Want
Now you can retry a question until you get it right without fear of losing any more points. You won't either get a point after finally finding the answer, but lets be fair :)

+ Show Key Labels
You can turn off the note labels on the keyboard in the Options.

+ Easy scrolling for virtual piano
Try out the new "piano scroll". Now with scroll after pressing a key you have greater freedom of playing.

Mardulia,
Great app
I've looked at and have other ear training apps but use this one the most because it allows you to train and retry. It also picks up your instrument. So you can train with what you are playing. Great for learning to play by ear. I'm not too crazy about the graphics, but hey, that's just me.
Tabalji,
Works grat!
I am learning Indian classical music which is largely based on listening. Since I dont have an ear for music, this app has everything I need to train myself. Being able to use a real instrument to answer is a great feature to help me connect with my instrument.

Great app. Thanks!
Roffor,
Very good
Not perfect but it almost has everything you will need for training . The microphone icon is a bit annoying though. And I hope it can play the "do" at the beginning of a melody test so that I can practice melodic dictation for different modes .
ChiefJohnChileRellenos,
Great App
An all-around great music application. Tons of exercises and a nice piano layout to use when competing listening drills. A guitar fretboard layout (similar to that of the piano) would be a great addition as a learning tool. Overall, very well done.
Kath S,
Good app
I really like this app, it has helped me to learn absolute pitch when no other app really does, and I have actually made progress. One downside that all users of this all should know- it doesn't play through headphones! If they are plugged in, app plays through external speakers anyway. 👎
Frandolin,
Great app
I have tried many ear training apps and this one is by far the best.
Lots of options and great service.
Does intervals both ascending, descending and together.
Not easy to find.
Polychant,
The best!!!
We are musicians and want our kids to develop skills with ease. This is a great app!!! We prefer it over many others!!! Our respects to the developers!!! A million thanks!
KarenMN,
Phenomenal App!
Go no further. This is a wonderful app giving the user a great deal of control. I use it a lot, and keep discovering more features.
Vonsydov,
Badly designed
I wish the app was better designed. So many little things are problematic. Seriously you guys are using pops? That really kills the flow of the training. One thing is pretty annoying eg. in the pitch trainer is when you get s pitch wrong, it doesn't replay the original pitch..so I forget what it was! So lame.
Neezer305,
Awesome
I play violin and this app has been a great acquisition since you need a good ear to play violin. It has really helped me improve amazingly. Really recommend it.
