styledbyraw,
Exactly What I Needed
As a professional stylist and photographer, workflow efficiency is a must for me. When shooting on my main Fuji rig, film simulations ease the navigation of edits — especially when I’m working a bigger job. The editing routine is time consuming and some times you just want to have your photos done and ready to go. When shooting on iPhone, things should inherently be more simple. Before it would take 1-5 minutes to edit a photo through DarkRoom, Lightroom, VSCO, etc. to balance some of the colors and shadows. With RitchieCam, I have cut out so much time and can simply focus on blemishes. It fulfills the same job of film sims and keeps me in the moment when I’m shooting.

This is a minimal app for phone and camera shooters who know exactly what they’re looking for in a shot. I can’t recommend it enough — even in its earliest stages. As for the $9.99 per year subscription, that’s much more bearable that having to pay it monthly. Do it, use it, and the return on purchase will be well worth it.

Amazing Film Emulation
This camera app has blown me away. The film emulation is beautiful and has allowed me to leave my Fuji x100v at home and just shoot with this app when I don’t want to carry around the extra weight. I can’t wait to see where the developers take this in the future. Definitely worth the 9.99$ a year subscription as long as future updates will be included with the price. Thanks for this great app and keep up the good work!
Hoperture,
Best film sim camera app out there
I’ve been through a large majority of the film apps on iOS and pretty much promptly deleted them for various reasons. Poor UI, poor quality, sims look like curated insta and Snapchat filters, ridiculous paywalls, excessive ads and popups etc etc.

This apps is much more streamlined and the sims are modeled after actual film and look accurate. The free version may only have a couple of available sims but at least there’s no ads! For me, the subscription service was a no brainer. Not sure why people are complaining about $10 a year. That’s less than a dollar a month for something that will continually receive updates and become more refined as time goes on.

Cheers

nuevomike,
Fun and makes iOS cam better
I never really like the color profiles on the IOS app and felt the controls doesn't make it easy to just change exposure. This cam app as a better layout of simple controls and color profiles that I would akin to film. Def recommend!
mean greenie,
Cool app
It appears to be a really cool app, but when I went to purchase the unlocked version, I found it’s a subscription deal.

The PetaPixel article says, “it runs on a ‘freemium’ model: a one-time payment fully unlocks all the filters and features,” The app’s description in the App Store says unlock for only $9,99. Nothing about a subscription.

I’d happily pay $10 for it, but I’m not happy with never ending subscriptions for apps like this. What gives?
grgyrsewdd,
Beautiful film simulation
The filters and colors are awesome! I do wish that it could use a few of the regular camera functions, such as zoom and portrait mode- It’d be phenomenal if those things were added. And an option to let you edit photos taken with your regular iphone camera. I think the app would be close to perfect then.
SamDiaz76,
Like it these filters
So far so good. Really digging these filters. Especially the Vintage Kodak. Very nice. Paying this low, for a yearly subscription, didn’t bother me a bit.
What I would love is if you could apply these filters to video! That would be amazing!! Food for thought!
Robert Chitoiu,
Ok app, but disagree with the yearly subscription
I read his comments about it and this is not the same as Apple Music. I understand wanting to get recurring income, but this not the kind of app to do that. There are no servers to maintain. It’s software that is sold as is and should cost a fixed price. If he comes out with new features, those can be an additional fixed cost. No servers to run, no recurring subscription.
Izzy29,
Really enjoying the app. Added a subscription 👍🏼
I’ve been looking for good yet simple filters. This app is great at giving you the old Film look.

Maybe if a future update would add importing pictures from outside the app.

Just an idea that would be awesome. 🙏🏼
sierramikeecho,
Not worth 10$ a year
I decided to bite the bullet and purchase a year subscription. The filters are terrible, they don’t even look remotely like what they’re supposed to. There’s no film grain, there’s no option for time stamps, and there’s no Fujifilm or vsco type options. I feel like I just wasted 10$ and plan on canceling my sub. If only you allowed a trial period to see if you even want to use the app but all the camera options are locked behind a paywall. This is a joke and now I’m furious.
