Description

SafeDose® is an electronic medication reference tool. It contains acute medications provided for pre-hospital and hospital workers by SafeDose as a public service.

SafeDose provides mixing instructions, dosing, and drug administration information on a single, actionable page. Choose the patient’s weight and clinical need, and instantly see the dose in mg, volume in mL, dilution, delivery information, and dangers.

The content is tailored to remove irrelevant information and to eliminate the need for math or memorization by the caregiver. This improves medication safety, reduces the cost of care, and improves clinical outcomes.

iMedicalApps’ review describes SafeDose as "useful and well designed... Undoubtedly, the potential for medication errors would be reduced if practitioners were to rely on the information provided by this app".

A university research study published in the Journal of Pediatric Pharmacology and Therapeutics found that after less than 10 minutes of training, the use of the SafeDose system increased the accuracy of medication doses prepared during simulated pediatric emergencies by nearly 25 percent, and completely eliminated clinically significant errors.

The research also showed that use of the hospital version of SafeDose, as compared to traditional processes, reduced the time required to prepare medication during an emergency.

Used by hundreds of hospitals and many thousands of practitioners, all SafeDose medical content is medically reviewed for accuracy.

Gcsgv,
Note from the developer
Hello, this is the developer writing. Responding to a previous reviewer (elguapo1218), sorry but we can find no record of any emails or other correspondence from you. We are proud to be extremely responsive - returning emails within 24 hours even over the weekend. Insulin dosing for DKA does indeed exist for children in the app. It does not exist for adults because there are too many variables involved for adults to safely indicate a single "standard dose". We are considering removing the category altogether for adults. But we stand by our content which has been peer reviewed by many doctors, nurses and pharmacists and in use by hundreds of hospitals and thousands of medical professionals over the past three years.
wookiecrisp,
Great idea, buggy app doesn’t work right now
Great idea but effectively useless because I can’t get any of the buttons to work when using it on my iPhone X. Not very helpful if I can’t access anything I am paying for. Canceling my subscription.
Elguapo1218,
Disappointed
I really wanted to like this App. It has some features that seem very useful. Unfortunately, when I was browsing through the categories, I looked up DKA. The only information under that category was on a giving a fluid Bolus. Nothing about insulin. I found info about insulin by looking up insulin in the alphabetical drug list.
This makes me feel like I can't trust this App. I look up DKA, and I know that important information is missing. If I look up something more obscure, I might not realize that something is missing.
I have tried to contact the developer both through the App and via their website prior to posting a negative review and there was no response to either attempt. At this time I feel that I can't trust the completeness of this App, and the developer does not seem to be responsive to concerns. That's pretty much the kiss of death for a medical App as far as I'm concerned. I really hope they fix things and change my opinion!

As both a pediatric ER nurse and flight nurse I have found the Safe Dose app to be an invaluable tool in my practice.
It is a true "second check" for me when time is of the essence and I need to administer drugs or choose equipment.
The app is full of useful information and is very easy and straightforward to use.
Nurses, NPs,PAs and physicians can all benefit from having this app at the touch of their fingers.
Skyhighrn,
Highly Recommend
As a flight nurse I am excited about using SafeDose. SafeDose allows me to put more energy into pediatric care by providing a quick and easy way to confirm dosage and ml amounts for drugs.
Yet, I get most emotional when I realize how great an opportunity this is for health industry professionals to greatly improve emergent pediatric and non-emergent care. SafeDose will help save children's lives.

Avoid & Eliminate Error
This app is an absolute must have for any healthcare professional who administers meds to children. As a pediatric home care nurse my calculations must be impeccable as I am in the home alone & have no one to run to who will double check my math. Pedi safe dose does the double check for me. Thank you for giving me the confidence I need to administer medications dosages accurately.
Mccall MD,
What happened?
Safe Dose Pro was a great app at a great price. I recommended to all of my colleagues. I have used the app for over two years while working as an emergency medicine physician. I tried to open the app today and I cannot access the information. Safe Dose has decided to go to a subscription based model (after selling me the app). This is poor form to block content after selling an app to a customer. Tried to call customer service and got a recording. Too bad. Deleting the app now. Would no longer recommend, especially for $100/year. Getting greedy.
Javelmass,
Excellent app for any peds ER professional healthcare. A must in your smartphone!
This app has considerably decreased the amount of time expend calculating doses in our ED. Especially during busy hours and when you have not very experienced physicians in the care of pediatric patients.
I highly recommend this app for any healthcare professional caring for children.
Fish1579,
Awesome
Have only had this app for a week and have used it constantly... If your facility is broselow friendly this is a must for you to have.
Tista,
Easy to use
I'm a nurse but got this app to give Tylenol to my 10 month old. I didn't have to call his doctor. This app have me the correct dosage.
