Whisk’s communities are thriving, but our newest update has made it possible for users to display their publicly shared recipes all in one place. Now, you can easily see the recipes that a user has created in a separate tab on their profile named ‘created.’
For creators, that means it’s easier to share your recipes to a broader audience. For regular users, it means you can easily find recipes from your favorite creators even if you’re not a member of their community. Just click on the ‘created’ tab to find a user’s public recipes.
Remember to follow cooks who are making recipes you love!

Everything I ever wanted
Where has this been my whole life.? I am that person that has 50 tabs on a browser open because I want to save a recipe. Or I make something, love it and can never find it again. I hit Jump to Recipe on websites and all the ads, videos and pop ups make it super frustrating to use many websites when I’m trying to follow a recipe. Everything jumps around or reloads and I have to find my place a million times. This app gives you the option to use the original website for the instructions or to input your own.

I have tried other apps…you either need a subscription or you can only add a certain number of recipes. On one app everything I added had to be reviewed for a period of three days. After that, I started my own list on my phone’s notepad with tags to organize my recipes and then a friend told me about this app. I have been using it for a month now and was waiting for the catch but there seems to be none!

From someone who does not like cooking very much…This has made cooking so much less stressful and more interesting. I look forward to seeing what new recipes have been added, I find the format much easier to read than websites, you can add your own notes and see others’, upload your own pictures and edit and organize the recipes to your own taste. You can follow friends and see what they make. This is the first review I have ever written for an app and I would give more stars if I could. Thank you!

Five Star favorite app
I’ve been using Whisk for a while now, having started by downloading it and using it on my desktop as well to save all my recipes. I’m slowly building up my database, and along the way started using the meal planner and grocery list creator. It’s all very handy, but lately I’ve been realizing I don’t use it as much for a couple of reasons. First, meal planning takes time, since I am trying to minimize food waste and plan around food intolerances/allergies. I prefer using MY recipes because I only save the things my family will eat. For this reason, I find meal prep services a bit of a challenge when for example one family member hates curry and everyone else wants the curry dish, or the offered sides aren’t something anyone would eat but the main dish is perfect. Menu planning - grocery list services are helpful, but have no flexibility in meal selection. If we don’t like a meal, we have to manually remove the items from the list and plan replacements.

So, developers for Whisk, in my ideal world, Whisk would have an option to have the app use my recipes for fill in the meal planner for me. Something like Jow has, where I can input dietary preferences (diet style, likes, dislikes, needs) and it recommends meals. I don’t even need the grocery store integration like Jow has (or eMeals).

Keep up the good work!

Everyone Needs This app
I’ve been an avid user of this app for quite some time. It’s super easy to find the recipes I want. I love that I can search by category like low carb, vegan, vegetarian, healthy, potatoes, instant pot, etc. Not many other apps do that. That’s not even the greatest part! This app is 100% FREE and you can add recipes to a meal plan for the week or month and choose which day. THEN you can even share all those recipes into your Walmart cart and it will add all the items for you! Beware, Walmart will add the more expensive option most the time so if you want something cheaper be sure to double check. My only complaint is there are random ads now that interrupt when I’m trying to read a recipe. It’s very random and glitchy with the ads. I never know when they will show up. It’s a new thing because this was never there before. Anyway, download this app. Everyone needs it that cooks at home!
Charlie2427,
It’s okay, could be better
The UI is nice enough. I like how easy it is to collect recipes usually from the pages online. The add ingredients to shopping list is pretty standard for a recipe collection app and works well. I like the almost allrecipes vibe where you can see other people who have made the recipes comments, their adjustments, and weather they liked or dislike the recipe.

What I don’t like however is that you have to leave the app for the directions which is a waste of time. What is the point of copying the recipe when you have to “leave the app” (you’re directed to the directions webpage of the cooking blog within the app) to view instructions? So instead of it being neat and clean in app like the ingredients you have to scroll through all the cooking blog fluff where they talk about nothing before telling you what they did. For me this lack of a feature limits the use. There are other apps that also copy the directions and leave the link to the external site if you choose. I don’t understand why this app can’t accomplish that as well.

I came back to this app after receiving an email about how a lot had changed since I last used the app. I didn’t notice anything different. Overall decent app with just too inconvenient of a flaw for me to replace my other similar apps.
randomoasis,
Almost great.
I’ve been using Whisk for a week or so now, as I try to get back to cooking more regularly after not being able to cook at all with morning sickness. I really, really like it, but it has a flaw that’s extremely frustrating. I love that there’s a shortcut to import recipes from safari, I love that it helps me keep track of what I’ve made and what I’m just saving for future cooking, and I love the social aspect of it, even though I haven’t used it much. I don’t love the fact that when you import a recipe, it only actually imports the ingredients. I mean, it’s great that it does that part, being able to bring stuff into a grocery list is wonderful, BUT it’s super annoying that rather than copying in the instructions, it just leaves you with a link to the original webpage. So when I’m browsing what’s already imported, if it’s a recipe from, say, the New York Times, I can’t view the instructions at all because you need a subscription. What if a website goes down? What if someone stops maintaining their blog? Do you wind up with just a list of ingredients with no idea what to do with them? Fix that issue though and this app would get 5 stars.
cheddarkopf,
Great app.
This is a great app for storing and sharing recipes. I have also found a few recipes from others in the app and they were great. I like the shopping list. It adds everything from your recipe and let’s you check off what you already have. I also like the original/imperial/metric option for measurements. I live in Germany and often share recipes with German and that is a helpful option. Overall a good app that could be great. Now for the negatives d the reasons I am changing to a different app:
1. With Whisk you can only share a Whisk link and printing is not possible. I am tired of having to write out recipes to share. 😖
2 Whisk doesn’t import the directions instead linking you to the original website. Many times lately the recipe link has changed or is no longer valid and I have no directions for my recipe. 😵‍💫 You can manually copy and paste the directions into Whisk, but it is tedious.
If these two things were addressed, this would be an amazing app, but the negatives make it a no go for me. I am changing to Paprika.

Life Changer
I tell everyone I meet about this app. This app literally saved me hundreds of dollars and so much time. Grocery shopping is a breeze now. I love how I can add and save recipes from any website. The “share list” option and “invite to list” option is super helpful when sharing grocery responsibilities with spouses, kids, roommates, etc., or even sharing with elderly parents who may not call to ask for things but need a couple of items. Whisk is completely customizable in that you can add your own collections of recipes to self-created groups (similar to Pinterest). I’ve been using Whisk for about a year now and wish I had it my whole life. THANK YOU to the developers of this app, and more importantly, thank you for recognizing how life changing this app is and making it free to use. Ps In no way am I paid by or represent Whisk developers, I am simply very satisfied and thankful for this tool.
brookeiam,
This app is everything I’ve been looking for!!!
If you’ve ever switched from multiple apps where you’ve saved recipes to then add the ingredients you need to buy to a list on yet another app & wondered if there was an easier way, this app is for you!! It’s literally everything I’ve been looking for & more!

I love that you can add recipes from any link & also add in your own (highly recommend adding your favorite recipes from your favorite cookbooks)! You can add a picture, notes, change the serving size & best of all, you can add the ingredients to your shopping list in one click! You can even add ingredients to the shopping list that aren’t in any of your recipes, which is so helpful. Literally everything you need all in one place!

I’m obsessed!! Such a time saver that brings joy - the ingredient emojis are so cute! The app feels so intuitive & I’m such a fan.
Dinner Planning & Working Mom,
Best App Ever
I’ve never rated an app. I’ve just never cared or appreciated them that much(I’m a horrible person), but this app is life changing!
Cooking for a family of 4(2 teenagers and a husband that works manual labor), food is a big deal and trying to plan dinners that are healthy and not out of a box daily becomes challenging and/or seriously expensive if you do it wrong. I’ve been keeping browsers open eternally to maintain recipes, manually writing grocery lists and planning them out which takes a ridiculous amount of time and effort. This app does it all! Holds my recipes, combines all ingredients, makes my shopping list.. Whoever made this app is a genius or were living the same struggle as me because I’ve never loved anything more!
Thank you for making this awesome app! I am telling all my friends!
Mean_Cake,
Great potential but super clunky right now
This app is beautiful - the front end/UI team did a great job. It feels like it will be really amazing someday, but for now - functionality leaves a lot to be desired. A few of the more frustrating items:

Changing the desired serving amount, saving, then adding recipe to Planner doesn’t preserve the adjusted serving amount.

Changing the servings and adding recipe to shopping list doesn’t preserve the adjusted ingredient amount, so shopping off that list will get you the wrong ingredient amounts.

From the Planner, when you click a day then add recipe, you have to scroll through every recipe you’ve saved. There is a search function which is great if you already have your meals planned, but not being able to filter by collection makes filling out the planner way more time consuming than it has to be.

Shared grocery list doesn’t show who added an item, making it difficult if there are any questions about the item.

Grocery list doesn’t allow any changing of item categories or creation of custom categories. Example: coconut milk gets sorted into dairy/eggs, which it is neither. Several common ingredients get filed under “uncategorized” with no option to change it.

The list goes on. I’m sure it’ll be fantastic at some point, but for now there’s a whole lot of extra work and extra taps to get things done, which for me is inefficient.
