You really can take it with you! We are the ONLY App that lets you see your location on the trail in real time, and no network is required! Sedona Arizona has 100+ trails covering forests, streams and red rock grandeur so you’ll need a guide. Sedona Hiking can be that guide. We supply trail descriptions, directions to the trail head, points of interest and the ability to follow your progress in real time with your GPS. Following the trails has never been easier. Now you can concentrate on enjoying the beauty of Sedona and not map reading or deciphering stacks of rocks. Load the Trail information into your iPhone or iPad (with GPS) device and “Take a Hike”! The trail maps and points of interest are preloaded so you don’t need cell service. Visit www.SedonaHikingApp.com for trail listings and hike highlights with pictures from the trails.
Here’s how it works: After you decide on the trails you’d like to experience you download the trails onto your iPhone or iPad (with a network connection) and select them as you do the hike. Everything you need is in each hike package.
1. Highlights and features of the selected hiking trail.
2. Length and difficulty rating of the trail.
3. A detailed description of the trail and what you’ll encounter and experience on the hike.
4. Directions to the trail head or live directions and map if you so desire and have network connection.
5. A trail map on screen that allows you to follow your progress and see your location in real time via GPS so you can be confident you’re on the trail.
6. There are trail markers for intersections to watch for and pictures of what is ahead on the trail so you don’t miss out on sights that might be slightly off the trail.

** You DO need a good network connection to download the trails. If you experience trouble please email us, we can help.

We have had a lot of input and help from Sedona Search and Rescue folks (Thanks Darrell!). That’s why we have added a Freeform Hiking map screen from the main screen. This can use different coordinate systems and provide hours of fun :). You can explore and track and share your location in the Sedona area. Lots of location techie stuff in there for coordinate. Create Breadcrumbs and have fun but BE SAFE.
And, we have added more Trail Safety features in the Hike Map screen, share your location, share the trail info with someone and let them know where you are.

This version has a couple fixes in it. Fixes a bug that prevented Breadcrumbs from being deleted, apologies on that.

We have added a feature to see how far from you another location is on the map. Long press the point on the map and see the distance (as the crow flies). Now the current trail name will be displayed on the top of the map screen. All App Trails is “baked in” now so you have access to all the trailhead location info at any time. Just a bug fix, but a pretty important one. The provider for the server made a change and broke the hike download process. We had to do some re-work of the hike downloader to get around their foolishness.
We are terribly sorry for the inconvenience to those that loss the use of the app for trails that they wanted.

We redesigned the download screen. This makes discovering trails that might interest you easier. Just poke the i button to see the features of that trail. The screen now shows trails you have previously downloaded and when. The download screen shows the trails that are vortex areas and the trail ratings. Easy-peasy. :) Updated for iOS 9.

We've added some reminders to let you know if Location Services are not enabled on your phone/iPad. The user has to enable this, the app cannot. We've put the trail rating Easy/Moderate/Hard in the main screen. Doh! Don't know why it wasn't there to begin with. Some other minor changes to improve the experience.

Get this app!
If you are hiking in Sedona this is the app to get. It is well worth the price. The inventory of hikes is impressive. The breadcrumb feature puts the app over the top. While trails have signs it is amazingly easy to lose your bearings. (Do we go left or right!?). A quick check of the breadcrumbed map will keep you from having to backtrack. This app has a “labor of love” feel to it given the work that has gone into it. Get the app and go explore!

Absolutely TERRIFIC!
We’re in Sedona right now and this app is The Best! Have already used it for a couple of hikes, and it does everything it’s supposed to do. I particularly like the map to the trailhead, and the GPS function. The latter is a godsend; today we weren’t paying attention and took a wrong trail, and wondered why it was so long. Wrong trail!… and the GPS showed exactly where we were. This app is cheap at twice the price, don’t go hiking in Sedona without it!

This app is awesome for helping you track yourself against the trail, especially when the trail is not well-marked. The price-tag was well worth it, even for just my annual trip to Sedona. I highly recommend this app to read up on the various hikes you are considering doing. It has good detail on each of the hikes so you can see what the trail is about to determine if you want to take that hike.

The rating in the hiked trails is great for picking the best hikes for your capabilities, at 68 years old it was perfectly fine for our planning dates for hikes and sites. The shuttle to some hikes is a good add. Get a printed one to know when and where! Maybe the developer can add that as a resource. 😊

A must have for visitors to Sedona
With a few days in Sedona, I really wanted to do some hiking and see the sights. The problem is that there are an overwhelming number of trails to choose from. This app makes it easy to find a hike that fits anyone’s skill level and goes to the places that you want to go. I got way more than $5 worth of fun out of the app.

Handy App, even for short trip
Was in Sedona for a week. Loved that driving directions included written description as well as link to driving app with GPS coordinates as destination. On the trail we wandered twice and app helped me get back to my intended hike. Also helped us know when I reached the end of my hike. Not always clear on trail. Thanks developer(s)!

Outstanding App !!
I live locally to Sedona and hike the area on a weekly basis. I ALWAYS have this app open for wherever trail I use, as it shows me exactly where I am on the trail and whether I've drifted off the correct path - something that is easily done if you're not paying attention 😀.

GPS feature keeps you on the trail
The Show My Location feature of this app is great and helps you to stay on the trail when the trail is not obvious. I think that many people don’t make it to the end of Brins Mesa (IMO one of the best hikes in Sedona) because it isn’t clear on the trail that there is more to the hike. This app will guide your way.

There are so many trails around Sedona and so many map sources. This tool was so easy to find a bike, read about it, select a level of difficulty, and to follow progress on the trail. If you will be hiking in Sedona you need this app.

This app is wonderful. I love knowing exactly where I am on the map, and exactly how far away a given place is. The fact that you don’t need web access to use it is all the more reason to use it.
