Description

Morgan and friends didn't do anything wrong, but find themselves in harrowing danger. Help them survive the traps and make difficult choices. Their life is in your hands now. The dialogue and story are written by professional writer Lisa Brunette.

Morgan's friends and insulin supply are missing, and it seems the madman who took them wants to play games through the radio. He has a thing for riddles and traps—human traps, that is.

The ability to receive images means you can see the traps for yourself—and help Morgan survive a chilling nightmare!

Features:

- Choose from 3 options at every decision!
- Shape the story and build stats in 5 categories. Success or failure depends on your stats!
- Open beautifully rendered images of crucial scenes and visual puzzles!
- Engage with the story as it unfolds through real-time notifications!
- Internet connection not required for playing.

Daily Magic Productions teamed up with award-winning novelist and game writer Lisa Brunette to bring you this interactive tale where the choices you make can change everything. Multiple paths through the game give you wildly different results—from romance to exciting twists and reveals to who lives or dies.

At every game ending, you have the option to reset to your last defining choice, to the start of the last chapter, or back to the very beginning.

Stats add up as you play, and they can determine whether a choice you make succeeds, or fails.

Can you beat a madman at his own game—without sacrificing anyone? Will you help Unknown Sender uncover the mystery that still haunts these dark woods?

PLEASE NOTE! Sender Unknown: The Woods is a Freemium game, after Chapter 1 you will be offered to unlock the full story, all remaining chapters of the game.

Earth Review,
A wonderful suspense tale, with well-done characters to interact with.
I picked up this game because I was looking for something new, and the concept seemed interesting. What I wasn't expecting was to play the game to the end, struggling with choices, waiting for the next reply, and genuinely wanting to see what happens next. The character of Morgan is such a delight; a frightened person, diabetic, struggling to survive and escape with lost friends, with nothing but the knowledge and items around them to help solve the puzzles.

There were a few things that annoyed me, but not enough to ruin my enjoyment of the game:1) I come back immediately after recieving a message and find all messages before a choice or action posted as one, instead of starting when I load the app; for some parts, this is understandable, because I was gone a long time, and replies that come in have time to stack, then show at the same time; also, the wait time on events that seem short seem unnaturally long.
Mjrose927,
Can't believe how much I like this app!!!
I downloaded it originally because it was free and it looked different than anything I have ever played. When I first started the game I thought this is kind of bizarre. But after playing it for a while I am hooked. The story is set up as a text message exchange with a stranger. There are times the game will go silent while the character goes to do something. I now find myself checking for updated "texts" before game sends updates because I am compelled by what is going on. The first chapter is free but then it is $1.99 to unlock full content. They end first chapter on a cliffhanger that I had to buy it to find out what happened. I hope by the time I finish this one, they release another one or have sequel. So good. Best choose your own adventure ever.

I was compelled by format and story. I wish it had been longer. I would have also liked a more solid conclusion UNLESS there are more expansions if the story coming. The fact I couldn't binge through the whole thing in an hour because it was set up as more real time plot IS brilliant. It did frustrate my ADHD but I am hoping the story continues. I was hoping for twists and turns. No spoilers but wanted more info on why things were done.
out 2 bucks,
Garbage
Don't spend your money on the full version. The story is lazy and badly written filled with flaws and plot holes the "twists" are juvenile and predictable. Almost every speech option is the same and has the same outcome on the conversation and story the stats don't change anything or matter whatsoever the puzzles are either so easy a toddler can figure them out or they're just a nonsense guessing game and there are very few. No character development and super short. A character I saved early on kept getting brought up saying that they were dead when they weren't and I triple checked they were alive another character I tried to save in every possible way at one point and the story wouldn't let you I got achievements for things I didn't do and didn't get achievements for things I did and right before the end the game said sender logged off and didn't come back even though I had it on fast mode so I didn't have to wait for the characters to do anything still waited a whole day and game was still frozen. For these reasons and many more I urge you not to waste your hour of time or $2 on this game I wrote better stories and made better games when I was 10 but unfortunately this is what the entertainment industry has come to, release nonsensical garbage to make a quick buck and the masses eat it up.
fuzzyfoot88,
Modern take on text based adventures!
I'll be honest. I didn't think much of the game based on the trailer. I mean how fun could it be to text a random stranger and help them solve a crisis? I mean I have things to do.

But the longer it sat with me, the more I wanted to try it. I wanted to see if the real time aspect of the game was real and worth my time.

It is! It so is. A lot of people complain about 'the waiting' but A that's part of the immersion of the game, and B you can turn that feature off if you are impatient.

You encounter the real time very early when you ask Morgan to do something to help you understand what's going on. It's a short wait, but I turned to my SO after 2 minutes of waiting and said 'wow, this is very realistic in its presentation.'

Then there is the story itself. It's so much fun to guide the horror story. I have theories about where it's going, and I could be very wrong, but just being a part of the experience as it unfolds is enough to bring me back after each 'wait'. I check the app periodically to see if anything new happened lol.

PRICE TAG:
Chapter 1 is free. To unlock the rest of the chapters is a flat $1.99 rate. So give it a whirl and see if it's for you. You aren't obligated to pay at all.

NOTE TO PARENTS:
I might not recommend this to your children. The theme alone is definitely not for pre-teens. It deals with life threatening situations and death, like any horror film would.
Parrotkoi,
Great “chat adventure” game
Lifeline pioneered this genre, but alas they haven’t released a new story in a while. Rumor has it they’ve been taken over by the dark side and adopted a microtransactions model. None of that or ads in this game, thank goodness. You can play the first chapter for free, with the option to pay if you like the story and wish to continue.

I like the stats mechanic in this game, and the puzzles were fun to solve. Overall I thought it was a great game, and I look forward to more from this game maker. One star off because the ending seemed a little rushed, and the story was disjointed at times, possibly because I haven’t played through all the endings yet. Also, notifications didn’t work for me, even though I tried a bunch of options with the settings. This took away from the intensity of the experience, so that rather than anxiously awaiting an update from Morgan, I just played the game whenever I had a little time.
Silver7814,
A solid game!
If you enjoy text based games with puzzles, I would definitely recommend playing this game. It had a story that I was genuinely invested in, and it had me playing nonstop. I’m a sucker for games with this kind of atmosphere, so it was inevitable.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing, and I managed to win with high stats (compassion, logic, and knowledge in 100%) and everyone alive on my first play through! I’m not sure how easy that is to do, but I’d like to think that it’s impressive for my own sake.

It was a great experience, but I do have one complaint. I think it’s a bit too pricey for a game that can be completed within a few hours. However, I understand that game developers need all the money and support they can get, and the creators of this game are certainly deserving. I’d highly suggest buying this game to anyone that has a fair amount of money to throw around!
Enslaved By Faeries,
Creepypasta Fans must buy this!
I don't write too many reviews, but as a fan of horror as well as a lover of well written books, this 'Choose Your Own Adventure' style game is brilliantly done.

For less than a coffee at Starbucks (literally), you can support a great writer and have a game that will give you many hours of creepy old school fun!

I highly recommended this game and look forward to future updates!

---2ND REVIEW---
To the developers:
Thank you for such a warm response! The fact you took the time to write me indicates you care deeply about the game as well as those playing it! It's gives me confidence in playing more of your creations in the future.

---GAMEPLAY AFTER THREE DAYS---
I am absolutely LOVING this game! It really brings me back to the games and books of my youth (I'm a child of the 80's) when the 'Choose Your Own Adventure' genre was extremely popular in literary writings and text style gaming. The developers said they were going for the 'old school' feel, well they nailed it on the head.

I don't play in fast mode because I want the immersion of realism in the play through. It definitely makes for heart stopping moments.
Also kudos to the writer for creating a fascinating yet chilling tale that doesn't 'dumb down' the writing as I've seen many of these types of games do.

Alright, back to Morgan and her friends! Wish me luck!
Eryn Little River,
Brilliant Game with Old School Feel!
I honestly love this game. I was hesitant to start it after some of the reviews, but I'm so glad I did. After the first chapter, I didn't hesitate to purchase the rest of the game. So far it's day three playing and it's still a gripping story.

The Good:
The writing is great! Though sometimes it feels a bit unrealistic, the story itself is very entertaining and leaves me wanting to know what happens to Morgan and her friends. The humor that the writer added in also seems well placed.
The puzzles are definitely a positive. I enjoy a good mind game, and this one definitely has a few. They aren't too difficult (yet), but still make you stop and think.
It's an immersive game that has a fast mode or slow mode. I enjoy the slower option, as it makes it feel like you're getting responses in real time. Nothing makes my heart pound more than seeing a notification from this game!

The Bad:
My only complaint is that the app crashes a lot. It seems to handle really well the majority of the time, but I've noticed if I'm listening to music at the same time, it just won't work. It's a minor setback to a really fun game, though.

Thanks to the developers and the writer for such an entertaining app! I really hope to see more in the near future.
Susan 731,
That's all?
I originally checked out this app for my 11yr old nephew, yet I find myself hooked. It is creepy, but not over the top creepy.
I love that it's in real time otherwise my nephew & I would breeze through it. When that happens I find I don't take the time to appreciate the story. Plus, it Keeps the suspense up! Also, as an educator, the fact that it uses proper English is a plus, and it gets older kids reading.
I payed to unlock the rest of the content and it seems it's a one time pay for the entire story.
To the developer/writer: what an ingenious app. Most writers write books, but you made one out of text messages. I hope you don't mind me telling my writer friends about your app!
Just finished the story.....That's it! Hope the creator write s more chapters! It's like finishing a favor it's book, you hate to see it end
Scorpio and Little Dipper,
Very good!
I have only one thing to say about this—it’s certainly not a game for the faint of heart! Despite there being minimal blood, there are some mature themes that might not be appropriate for younger audiences. OTHER THAN THAT, this is a good game that really stimulates your brain and gives you a sense of the thrill. Some people complain about it taking so long, but if you have the notifications turned on, it really adds to the experience. It’s like getting a real text message. Artwork did help put the situation into perspective immensely—however, the traits didn’t do anything that I was aware of, other than gaining myself some achievements. Perhaps you’ll be able to figure out what to do with them, certain choices that can/cannot be made depending on your strengths? Can’t wait to see how this game improves! Cheers!
