nanibah,
What I wanted and Chanted for a once 2007
This new version is so completelyFascinating. I am so impressed that we could find all of the information that we’re looking for about this Buddhism was in the app. In addition we can chat with it which is been great for young people. Coming from Santa Monica the headquarters of the SGI USA. Then moving to the smallest chapter in the entire country and being married to do chapter leader, I find this application will help her to motivate the new members and even the older members if they can use the technology where I had to give one last star. I also believe that this application should have a place where leaders can at least Indicate where we will have our next customer for gone girl in which the chapter they’re in. Meaning that this application needs a GPS and the ability to track the people who are using it. There will be a time we will face challenges with other negative people, as we did many years ago when we were exile by the priesthood.

Those things and seem to matter now that were in 2019. However it is a history of the SGI am that we need to remember where we came from. I get so busy people who are practicing will actually use all of the information Available on this application. I am so excited to see how well it performs. Thank you to the people who Have worked so hard to make this happen.
k-taku-chan,
Love the app.
I would first like to start off bye saying Thank you so much for this app. I feel so fortunate to have all things sgi ant my fingertip and use the app constantly. However, I would like to respectfully make some suggestions. 1) I wish there was a way to stay logged in and not need to enter password every time. 2) also if we could stay logged in I also would suggest the member ID to be the default home screen. We are trying to use the ID verification at the toban desk at the community center and MANY members are having a hard time accessing their ID especially out Many Treasures members. 3) daimoku and gongyo are kind of slow for me. I see the need for slower settings, but faster options would be awesome!!! I would like to chant with the app in the car but it’s much too slow for me.

Again, I’m not complaining and I am soooo appreciative for the app. Just my humble suggestion.
Chibi Cher,
Very useful!
Daisaku Ikeda (President of Soka Gakkai International (SGI)) is one of several leaders for peace. President Ikeda has publish several books and so there for has no need to ask for money. Any money that is donated is donated to the SGI centers. This app is to assist everyone on their paths to for buddhahood. There are SGI centers all over the world for anyone who is not familiar with Nichiren Buddhism that may have questions or concerns of the Buddhist practice. Nichiren Buddhism did start out in Japan in the late 1200's, and has since reached out to multiple countries around the world. That being said, there is no secret agenda for the Japanese government. And no one is trying to control anyone hypnotism or anything like that. This app is very useful for me personally as a guide to help me with my practice. Especially with having access to Living Buddhism, news letters, experiences, and much more without being restricted to just the website, magazines and such.
Kim in Santa Rosa, CA,
I love this app! BUT...
Recently the Writings of ND will not load!! I’m so frustrated with that because I love the search feature. Is there any help for that? Here’s my previous review: I cannot even believe I have the Writings of Nichiren Daishonin searchable at my fingertips! I lost my old copy when my house burned in the Tubbs fire, the one with all the tabs and post-its marking my favorite passages. I have a new copy (thank you President Ikeda) but it’s easier to use the app, which is available anytime anyplace. I like setting campaigns and targets. So convenient to keep changing the goal dates, yeah, we can’t give up over an arbitrary date. And the quotes ready at hand, so easy to encourage myself and others. I add my thanks and applause to the other good reviews here.
zzzzzzmoney,
Continuing Positive Support
I enjoy this so much. There are times in my small business when I am driving long distances and I want to feel connected to my practice and show gratitude by hearing my daimoku while driving with both hands on the steering wheel as I think of my members. It has become very reliable source of keeping a constant high life condition. When I need it most as some of the world have no hope and you can see it when you’re on the highway. By the way that they drive. The danger of being on a road or truck driver or a long-distance driver is very hazardous. I shared it with people that lived in other states who may have little or no connectivity for Internet but they do have a smart phone and can enjoy this app. I cannot express joy I feel by having this tool.
owatersj,
AMAZING!!
I have been using this app since it came out mostly for daily guidance, to track goals associated with chanting & for Gongyo, especially at times in isolation from in person activities. I absolutely love this app & am so proud sharing it with members & guests. I recently found the ability to update chanting time per day... So grateful!! Because of the distraction having my phone close to me was at times, I didn’t always use the app to track Daimoku which left me not really feeling the benefit of connecting my Daimoku to my goals. Now with the ability to update any day with the amount of time chanted, I am confident that I will be able to share my experiences with more clarity relating to Daimoku than before. Thank you to the amazing technology team for creating & enhancing this app!
kkp0421,
Please fix all the bugs ASAP!
I rarely write reviews but I thought I needed to write this time to let the developer know the struggles with the updated app.
I have used the previous version of app for a while which I really loved and was such a great tool to track my daimoku count/daimoku campaign.
Now that the app is updated, all of my previous record is completely gone!!! I wasn’t recording on a separate log book so my data got just simply zeroed out!
Another frustrating thing is that the default daimoku count per minute is set for 28. When I got to the setting to change the count per minute, I can change but this change doesn’t reflect on the stopwatch.
Then I just realized that my daimoku counted on stopwatch are not reflected on the “Targets” stats.
Also this is minor but before I only had to open the app and directly went to the stopwatch function. Now I have to click a few times before I get to the stopwatch, which is sometimes frustrating when I’m trying to count as I start chanting.
Why did you have to update in the middle of 50K campaign? Why didn’t you make sure no bugs before publicizing?
The intention is good and I really appreciate the SGI IT team to develop all the SSN and network communication tools but please, please improve ASAP! Or sadly I can’t use this app anymore to keep my daimoku record.
Lotusladymn,
Very disappointed
I’m glad you have an app, but there are some very basic things that need to be fixed. One should not find a Buddhist app so annoying. Are you testing us?

First, why can’t I stay signed in? Where is the risk? I shouldn’t have to sign in each time I use it.

Second, why isn’t there a back button? If you get to an article and it is the wrong one, you should be able to back out. If there is a back button, it isn’t obvious.

Third, when reading articles, there should be a way to highlight especially inspirational parts or be able to use “sticky” notes as if you were writing in the margins. The kindle software works that way, so the technology clearly exists.

Fourth, if you can not do #3, then fix the print feature. I shouldn’t have to print from my laptop. Furthermore, just fix the print feature either way.

Fifth, why is it so hard to find the Living Buddhism Articles? Why not a Button for that rather than just World Tribune?

Sixth, for new members who want to chant along and increase or decrease the speed, make it easier to find! It is not intuitive in the least!

Frankly, if President Ikeda tried to use this app, I think he’d be disappointed that you were making it so difficult for the members.
StormDesigns,
Very Good yet, disappointing
The implementation needs enhancements. The functionality is hampered because it doesn’t consistently return where you left off. Adding and subtracting daimoku is difficult and not very accurate. The chanting timer covers but the ux ui could use some serious improvement to be their best. Also when it updated from the previous version it completely wiped out my previous daimoku count! 3 stars was generous because I love SGI and want encourage improvements not punish for the needed upgrades. It is at least useful in spite of shortcomings.

Who should I contact to suggest updates?
ephemeralpizza,
Thank You So Much!
I've used many third-party apps over the years to keep track of my daimoku. Early on, some sadly included images of the gohonzon. That's why I'm so grateful for the Gakkai to've released an official app. The fact that it also includes access to my World Tribune/ Living Buddhism e-subscription without needing to use another app is gravy! The app is really very well done. My suggestions for feature additions would be: 1. Utilizing iCloud syncing to keep data in sync across Apple devices and 2. Integrating with Apple Health Kit so that daimoku counts as Mindfulness data.
