ksarp_,
Expectations were pretty high
I mean the game itself isn’t bad but there’s nothing to it. You walk around, slash an enemy, and finish a level while completing certain objectives. Obviously a lot of work was put into the animations and level design but I wouldn’t have thought it would make it through to Apple Arcade. It’s pretty much just another disappointing title apple has added to their arcade. Seems like the 50 year old developers over at apples hq don’t even know what a good video game is. Oh well though

If ur looking for something quick to play I guess this is your go to game….but in terms of picking games that make it into Apple Arcade, do better apple…
Christin White,
So Close to Being Excellent
Shadow Blade is an entertaining little casual platformer that could have been great if not for bugs and inconsistent difficulty. I had a great time playing through the first five areas, little of the platforming was all that difficult but collecting all of the items and getting it all done in a time limit was challenging with a few levels taking me ten or more tries to pull off. The combat is very unsatisfying on its own but when the climbing walls, dodging traps, jumping between platforms and taking down enemies flowed together perfectly you feel fantastic.

It’s such a shame then that when you get to the final Dojo area and seven or eight of the levels are missing coins or have the percentage found miscalculated so you can’t fully complete them. Compounding on that they also thrown together with some of them easily being completed on your first try it’s a pretty poor climax to the game. Not to mention two of the achievements being buggy and not finishing.

There’s a great casual game in here, I loved that I could pick it up and run through a level in a minute or two but often found myself going back for just one more try on particularly difficult levels. It just needed a little more polish to make the experience a more positive one. It’s a shame Apple doesn’t have higher quality control standards for the games they curate on Apple Arcade.
Jwe217,
Not bad, but not great
If you want a quick game to slash some foes, then it might be what you are looking for, but overall I’m not too impressed. There’s an assortment of about 70 1-2 minute levels, but there’s not too much of a challenge except with regards to time and a few specific enemies. (I’ve only played chapter 1 and a few of the more difficult levels). I was kind of hoping for a bit more to the game than just trying to complete all levels with 3 stars.

Furthermore, there is no game controller support, so it’s harder to play and not as fun on an iPad.

The swipe control option is also difficult to use in my opinion. Personally, the sound effects are a bit too gory for me, and the music is mediocre, so I prefer to play with the sound off too.
koolest. kid. around. GOAT,
Great Game
This is a pretty great game the controls are pretty easy to use if you use button mode but if found the gesture mode to be a little too hard so that’s what I’ve been playing it on so that’s the game mode I’ll be reviewing

All in all the game is pretty fun. It’s an exciting game wher you get to kill enemies and collect some type of coin/spark? And it’s pretty much just a fun beat ‘em up.

I totally recommend this game to people who are looking for an action packed game with cool level design and a little bit of fun challenges
couch-riding shinobi,
A decent time-wasting distraction. But one MAJOR complaint
It's a no-frills platform game that offers a nice challenge with the time limit and coin collecting elements necessary to get three stars on a level.

The game is easy to pick up and the difficulty creep is sensible. With the exception of all of the dojo levels. Which is where my big complaint comes in.

For the most part, all of the dojo levels are very easy and you could three-star most of them on the first try. Well, you could IF basically every dojo level didn't cheat you and say there were coins left to be collected that didn't actually exist. I've been all around every level in the dojo that I got two stars on, and I'm telling you... there no more coins to be found. It's irritating to 100% a game but not actually be given credit for it.

If you're a completionist, avoid this game. If you want a mindless platformer to kill some time and challenge you, this game also isn't for you, unless you do want to 3* almost every level. In that case, just avoid the dojo levels.
EFAISSE1,
It’s a good game
It’s good and all there’s just a small issue with the game, when I get to dojo level there’s a couple of levels that say I don’t have all the stars but I’ve went thru the whole dojo levels and looked for them but nothing is there. Maybe it’s a game error or something but other than that the game would be 5 stars
voiceofthebigjb,
Buggy and questionable for the Arcade
I played the original version of this game and it was OK for what it was. It’s a basic game: run through the level, collect all the stuff, slash the bad guys, do it fast. But the glitches and bugs seem to have made it to the plus version. Many levels say you’re missing coins even though you scour every inch of the map. And a few levels have some graphic artifacting. Not sure this was high quality enough to be resurrected in the arcade.
patdski,
Fun (but buggy) while it lasts
This game is short and straightforward. Most levels are easy to get 100% on after only a couple of attempts. The Dojo levels, however, are very buggy. Some lack enough items for 100% completion, and some won’t register as complete after you finish them. I expected more from a “+” game and better quality control from Apple.
Among The Cows,
Could be great.
Two things: needs controller and Apple TV support. Otherwise there’s just too many swipe combos to remember and execute. Basically, I’d like to be see every Apple Arcade game have controller support and available on Apple TV. So much untapped potential for this game and all the others that don’t want to be part of the console experience that Apple Arcade, Apple TV and a decent controller truly offers.
nbdlf,
Shadow Blade+ is a fantastic game
I played this game for a few hours now and I’m already addicted to it! It is so much fun to try to get three stars (or blades) on each level and it’s even more fun to play with the Backbone controller. I highly recommend this game to anyone that wants a fun level based game.
