Lots of fun
Just love the game and the mechanics. I really like how I can walk around my base in first person view. When leveling your command center just remember don’t level it till you’ve upgraded everything else as the enemy scales to what level your CC is.
It just came out worldwide a month ago and runs smoothly and have been playing for about a week with no bug, or money issues like some of the other reviews. The transition between going from my iPad to my iPhone goes very fast with no hiccups. There are still a few options in the game that hasn’t been implemented but still a very fun game and can’t wait for more.

Money Pit, Be Warned
Played for a several months. This is a PLAY for PAY game. Dropped a lot of money into game. The more you develop your squad, the higher the opponents that are placed to accomplish your daily tasks. If you spend money, difficulty becomes impossible. Universal data storage that I paid for said when purchased 5K but only loaded 1K hero experience. I don’t understand why squad strength almost 60K less, defeat me, just steal water, so you must buy more. Chests you win say you will receive, when you open, nothing, developers don’t respond or care, they got your money. I just went to level 9, I should only have stayed at level 8, opponents you cannot kill, siege opponents that are out of reach. Same with the battle dome. As soon as I dropped money, within a day, impossible again. I will not spend more. Just be warned, if you are a money player. The more money you drop, your improvement does not last long, and the more impossible it gets. You are pushed too hard to drop money into the game. Cannot advance or complete daily tasks. You might as well just play as a regular player until you cannot advance or you become bored/frustrated with this game. Don't waste your money. You are warned!!!

Screw iOS players
Visually good, gameplay decent, but there has been no content upgrade since the Ark. Level 9 is the highest in this game. Though it’s a grind to get there, but really, 9? Story just stops at that point and it just becomes a repetitive cycle of siege, ads, same old events, ads. Where are the expeditions promised? Why can’t we go higher than 9? What happened? Ever since the last update and wow, we can go up to cc10 now, game crashes all the time. Go to Doom Dome,it crashes. Log into clan chat, crash. Do a siege, crash. Watch an ad,crash. Requests to developers equal throwing darts at a black hole. This should be called Crash Shelter. Ready to uninstall.
The game developers don’t care about iOS players and have admitted as much in Discord. The latest update has resulted in crash after crash, in clan chat, in war, in sieges, in every aspect of the game. Filing tickets is useless, they respond with the usual b.s. robo answer, if they respond at all. Bringing up in Discord is useless, their rep will hem and haw until finally admitting that iOS is not a consideration. The level of sadistic creativity in crashing the game is only surpassed by the developers’ breath-taking incompetence.

General dissatisfaction
While the basic mechanics of the game are sound I have a number of criticisms.
The game is, as a financial necessity, set up to constantly remind the players of the superior options purchasing the premium mode would provide. This is practically standard and I don’t think much of it anymore.
The combat is simulated live for no real reason. The player cannot meaningfully affect the outcome and it seems only to delay the player and goad them into buying the premium mode in order to fast forward the game. That is my primary issue with the mechanics.
My other issues are ones of principle. The mechanic of assigning an arbitrary number designated as “potential” to a human being reeks of determinism and eugenics. While a dweller can be upgraded through premium currency, it is not a system I can easily accept.
My next issue is with the bio printer. Despite having entirely bypassed the traditional methods of human reproduction, the designers still limit it to “traditional” couples of one man and one woman. Allowing same-sex couples even seems easier to program because the module wouldn’t need to check the sex of the dweller.
I don’t see why the game differentiates male and female characters whatsoever in fact.
Actually, given the circumstances, contriving a means to make humans reproduce is unnecessary. You could just as easily have a giant beacon to attract nomads and not deal with the questions of how to raise a human in such unfavorable circumstances.

Very unique game
When I first saw an ad of this game, I thought “wow, another one of these games? Oh well, time to check it out” I had low expectations, and boy oh boy did this game blow those expectations out the water. This game is super unique, I mean, 3D CHARACTER MODELS? Quality is obviously not AAA game level, but impressive for a game like this
There’s a lot of things that I like about this, and also many (but not as many) I don’t like about this

HOLY SHEET I CAN CONTROL THE CHARACTERS
The humor. I mean, the Brotherhood of Steel joke was funny enough to make me laugh a little, which nearly none of the other games like this has before
I can actually get cryptokeys from the bunker when controlling one of the characters, amazing

This game is a great concept but the devs are a bit too greedy.
No matter how much you grind, how much you buy, success will always be just out of reach. It can be played without buying stuff but the costs of building up your base and team are so high that it will become tedious very quickly. Your base will be constantly attacked (when you’re offline), so it is hard to build resources without using the in-game currency….and…you guessed it, if you want enough currency, you have to buy it. And then the enemies level up right along with you. This would have been a great game if they just would have sold the game for a fee, instead. Also, if you have a poor internet connection, forget playing this game. I really liked this game but I quickly reached my “f-this” threshold pretty quickly

Very Expensive
This game looked promising but after playing it for a while you realize that this game gets quite expensive pretty fast for example you can buy these robots that would collect your water and your food and other provisions that you need but you don’t actually buy the robot you can get it for 10 days or 15 days or 30 days but you have to pay for it every month and like other things upgrading some of the characters that you do get you have to upgrade your rooms in your bunker or in your shelter which takes five hours eight hours 12 hours 15 hours just to get to level three so if you wanna speed up the process you have to buy other coins good been really good game glad I didn’t spend any money on this because now it keeps saying to check the Internet connection because it won’t load it’s been doing that for over 6hours now yeah I’ll give it a half a star if I could just not worth it .

Developer Did This on The Down Low
After deciding to spend a little money in the game because I thought it was a good value on entertainment, the developer got greedy and increased the cost of things. And it is exactly because of this type of developer behavior that I tend not to make purchases in games. Because the developer can change the cost of things through in game currency at any time, yet the money paid to the developer to buy that in game currency, it’s just gone. No getting it back, and no keeping your in game currency at the same value you bought it as. For example, if an item you want in the game costs 300 coins, and the developer decides to raise the price to 600 coins after you made an in-app purchase for coins, than the developer just ripped you off, and most likely didn’t even tell you. Because why would they? They know what they are doing.

Where to Start. Like many games nowadays, they keep releasing new content, without fixing issues, and on to put the the cherry on top, they add new bugs with the new content.
Besides fighting mutants, water lords, raiders, and the occasional boss, you will be fighting an infinite number of bugs. Premium is 5 bucks for 30 days, that, against all industry standards, won’t remove adds, you still need to watch 6 ads to get the total rewards. But that is not all.
They added a season pass, for ONLY 15 bucks a month. Guess what? Yes, more ads, and guess what else? More BUGS. The ticket system for issues is a one way only, you will never, ever receive an answer, forget about compensation. A nice game for those that enjoy the post apocalyptic shelter thing, completely ruined by the greed, and lack of care about customers. One more game to the trash bin.

Great game overall.. hoping for updates!
If you are a veteran at shelter games or barely beginning this is a great game. Graphics are beautiful, the game play is smooth and the concept is pretty understandable. If you are worried about pay to win the game is pretty fair, it matches you with similar opponents of your strength. Paying will only give you an advantage of unlocking things a lot quicker but you will be fighting people with similar fighting power. If you are a F2P player just keep grinding and you’ll have no problems. I hope developers keep up with updates!! Give the game a try, it’s a blast!
