rabbitfools,
Interesting
This is not a substitute for the hyper polarized news as I was hoping, but it is an interesting and informative deeper look at immigration. I would say it skews slightly left, but is far from propaganda as some reviews claim. They give lots of reputable sources to back up the data and seem solidly fact based but leave out some major points in my opinion, particularly those that don’t play in favor of immigration. Really nice interface. I would give it a second chance with another topic if they come out with more.
Tao-ish,
Curious?
Try this.

Sift presents well documented details and figures of respected data presented in a straightforward manner.

The information is presented cleanly and is well scaffolded to build on understanding one part of a subject to the next. It is accompanied by easy to read, informative, visual data.

I get the sense that many of the negative reviewers were coming around to the actual data on immigration (legal and illegal) and the many complex nuances of the subject that usually get lost in the noise. But this unfamiliar information doesn't fit into the the same old dog and pony of their own said "echo chamber" — and so they feel betrayed.

Some of negative reviews posted here would have you believe that Sift is part of some liberal conspiracy propaganda indoctrination. As a conservative on many things, even I don't believe that. That's all kinds of crazy. Like this country right now.

Why don't you put on your actual critical thinking hat if you have one, conservative or liberal, and see for yourself?
reduxify,
A very good data presentation format.
Sift presents information about popular news items sort of like a PowerPoint presentation. It dissects the information down into facts and numbers regarding the topic in chunks that are easy to understand.

Other reviewers for this app seem to think it has a “liberal” bias. This highlights how mindlessly our public has latched onto the propaganda teat. Sift doesn’t present information with an editorial viewpoint. The data that is presented is simply that - numbers and statistics around a current topic.

Data isn’t liberal or biased in any way. It’s simply data. And Sift does a very good job at presenting it.
ZachSox,
I love this app
Sift is a great way to learn about the central social and political issues of our time. It’s extremely accessible to read, and we get the whole picture: history, sources (proof), fun ways to interact and learn. Also, these issues are always evolving and growing as we grow as a culture, so I really appreciate when they let us know what parts of the issue don’t have a clear answer yet. Thank you, I’m a proud subscriber now, and look forward to reading new topics as they are released.
anonymizemecaptn,
Don’t see an issue.
I don’t see why there’s hate. They back up everything with sources.

The problem is that when people are presented with facts that are contrary to their beliefs, they dismiss those facts as propaganda. This applies to both ends of the political spectrum. Because of this, I don’t think our country is going to heal. People are not going to change their minds on any matter and are going to simply let politicians tell them how to think. Truly sad.
ethanimooney,
Awesome!
Very rarely do I review an app, but Sift deserves it.

I really enjoyed the experience of the app. The design it beautiful, easy on the eyes and simple to figure out, unlike other news apps. No blaring headlines or massive images and ads, a pleasing experience. Short mini quizzes that you can skip past or take the time to complete really help you understand the content and digest it all.

All in all it's a very nice app and I can't wait to see what comes next!
ladychilipepper,
Somewhat biased
I always represent myself as an independent and throughly research both sides of a topic when I look up politics. I did find this to be bias in the liberal sense with little opposing views. The app itself is very good and I love the layout. The mini quizzes are great and refreshing way of learning about the current news. I also would like to see more topics besides just immigration. I don’t know if I just haven’t gone through it all or that’s all it currently offers. This has great potential and it might be something I will redownload if both sides are better represented.
jesusmbaez,
Wow
This app is fantastic. Approach it with an open mind and you will benefit from the topic you are reading. Some of these reviews obviously came from people who did not take the goal of the app seriously at all. That, or they just don’t want to believe in facts. Looking forward to more topics. Please add a tap to each side of the screen to go back or forwards instead of a swipe. Maybe an optional toggle.
Squidward925,
What an amazing app!
This is such an amazing application. Not only does it present you with super informative and interacrive presentations about current events that many people may be confused about but they do it completely for free. I honestly believe that everyone should have this app because it will prevent a great amount of people from being ignorant when it comes to current events.
calvinbrodice,
who in god’s name would pay for this trash?
another group of biased, radical left wannabe reporters trying to capture your attention by sprinkling sugar on political hot topics, except this sugar is in the form of buzzwords coupled with a writing style that is downright condescending.

id summarize this ‘app’ as a regurgitation of the same rhetoric that the left spews 24/7.

if these people had any real value to offer, it would be published for free in an environment that shows WHO wrote the content. this is just an attempt by a few rejects who think they are smarter than the rest of us.
