Description

"Sign 4 Me – A Signed English Translator" is the ULTIMATE tool for learning sign language. The ONLY app that provides sign language instruction in 3D!

Featured by Apple as New and Noteworthy!!

In response to our customers’ feedback, we have added biblical signs. Hope you find them useful!

Visit http://signingapp.com for demo video.

Our 3D character can be zoomed in or out and rotated to give you the best vantage point for every sign. YOU control the placement of the character – not us! No other product lets you do this!

The library includes more than 13,000 words. Type in sentences, phrases, words and even the alphabet. Everything you enter will be saved in your History. Easily locate your entries by date or alphabetically. You can delete whatever you don’t want to keep.

Use the controls to speed up or slow down the signing; turn on or off the looping feature; and send the character to his “home” or default position.

SEE BELOW FOR HELPFUL TIPS AND CONTROLS.

Vcom3D, the original developer of sign language software using SigningAvatar® characters, wants you to be able to learn sign language the way you need to communicate. If you have friends or a co-worker who is Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing, now you can learn signs to communicate with them. The playback is in Signed English for the hearing person who wants to learn basic sign.

Our ASL team of 8 Deaf professionals has created these accurate signs based on their native knowledge of sign language. Visit us on the web for more information about our research to support the needs of the Deaf community and provide tools for learning and accessibility.

NOTE ON Signed English VS. ASL – Dynamic translation from English to true ASL is a complex problem just as translation from any language into another would be. We are currently researching this technology.

This product is intended for the beginning learner or anyone with an interest in learning signs. We hope to foster better communication between the hearing and the Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing communities.

HELPFUL TIPS –

To learn how to reproduce a sign, we recommend slowing down the signing speed, zooming in and rotating the character so you can see it from different angles. This will give you a better view of the proper handshape and movement of the sign. This is especially helpful for finger spelling.

If you are interested in learning the alphabet, type in ABCDE, etc. with no space in between each letter. The character will show you what each letter sign looks like.

3D CONTROLS –
Zoom in – Spread 2 fingers across screen.
Zoom out – Bring 2 fingers back together.
Rotate – Swipe with one finger.
Pan – Use 2 fingers to grab and move character.

2D CONTROLS –
Clear all history - Tap the menu icon in the history view, then tap "Clear History".
Delete one history entry - Long press on a history item and tap "Delete".

QmanAtor,
not so crazy about the display
like the fact that you had more characters but replacing it was not what i expected, also the display of the words is too small. i can write that small, but to make notes that will matter letter, this device with this app was small, going even smaller i
was not a good choice, and the intro that you have now is very ghetto. you had a good product, changes are always welcome when it’s for the better... these ones, not so much
The katzmeow,
Good App but ...,
I work in a college and occasionally I have to wait until the interpreter arrives and this is a great app to initially communicate with deaf students. However, how do you use different avatars? I have been stuck with Jack ever since the upgrade and sometimes I would like to try a female interpreter. Also, I was not able to contact the developer on their site and that’s why I did it in a review. If anyone can help me, I would be appreciative.
WinstonMiller,
Visual flow is great!
Although I agree that the app needs more signs, it’s vocabulary isn’t bad. But, what makes this app stand out is the natural way the signing flows. They just have the physics right and having that right makes all the difference! I have a gazillion apps and this is in my top 5 list.
libbyonline,
Great signing app
This app is surprisingly good. it shows some facial expressions and knows to combine phrases like "not yet." I don't really use any other ASL app but this one. It would be great if they updated it more than once a year but it almost doesn't need it.
Krikit86,
Not ASL
Of course, it would have been helpful if I had read the description before purchasing, HOWEVER: this is not ASL. I don’t really get the point of signing the way this app teaches. It’s confusing to me. I got this app to help my boyfriend communicate with my family better and it doesn’t really help much. Just confuses things more when there are plenty of us who can just translate for him.
Vue Reviewer,
Nice demonstration but mean looking avatar
I don’t know signing at all, so this app is very helpful. But the avatar looks angry and I wish I could change it.
ChristieLynnnn,
Used to be an amazing app
I’ve never seen an update make an app that much worse!! Why focus so much on new characters that are difficult to see (not to mention: scary looking)?? I miss the old guy! The whole update feels like a backwards step.... the intro is so awkward ...all that needed to be improved was vocabulary and phrases.
There724,
Not a good update
Good to add more characters but should've kept Chet. Also the sign does not repeat anymore without pressing Done again and again.
AliasAmy77,
Can’t open on iPad!
This app use to be great and is still great but only on my iPhone. No longer opens on my iPad. Stays in black screen. Please fix!
joeShmoe46,
Great reference app
I have a lot of deaf workers at work and this helps me learn key terms to effectively communicate!
