Quite happy but issue w/latest release
I am having a new problem- either ios12 or sling box latest release- sling player starts spontaneously. Has happened a few times now, wakes me up with the audio. I’ve even killed the ap, went back to bed and it starts an hour later... cannot find where to put this feedback on slingbox website as their community has been closed.
Update: I just upgraded to 12.0.1 and it’s still occurring....

Really works!
After 3 years of living overseas and missing out on Big 10 sports, I finally made the investment in a Slingbox. I have found it works brilliantly. There is a bit of a lag at times, especially if you want to fast forward or rewind a recorded program, and especially if you’re using AirPlay on your Apple device. Don’t be alarmed if it flashes back to the Apple TV homepage or says it’s disconnected, because it will reconnect itself. Not sure why it does that and it’s only when I’m using AirPlay and FF/Rewind a recorded show. You have a remote icon just like the one at home and can select favourite stations to find shows more easily. I have mine connected to a family members cable box and required their assistance to initially setup my devices. As long as they aren’t using that TV at the same time I want to watch it works fine. If they lose power I need them to restart it. The cable box must be ON AT ALL TIMES but their TV does not. You have to have your devices on the same WiFi network in order to initiate and activate a device, but once you have the app on your device you can be anywhere in the world and watch TV via the Slingplayer app. There is only the initial investment of the box, no monthly fee. I wish I had done it years ago. I have found it to be easy to use and less complicated than trying to find and keep up with having my own VPN.

Awesome product
Can’t say enough good things about Slingbox. I travel quite a bit and it’s great to be able to watch my home tv on sling box rather the usual hotel tv. I spent 6 months in India and this was invaluable.
I now use it even at home since it has the chromecast streaming. I can have the cable box tucked away tidily and have the tv at the foot of the bed without loads of unsightly cable wires protruding.
Honestly this is a life enhancing product for me. Never had any real technical issues either over the 4 years I’ve been using it.
BTW. Not sure about all the reviews saying it doesn’t work on IOS 13. No issues here! I’m on 13.7. It sounds obvious but you need decent WiFi and some basic knowledge of how cable, WiFi and internet works, then you’re all set. I’m by no means a tech expert but I figured it out pretty easily. Chromecast works great on it too.
I now use it even at home since it has the chromecast streaming. I can have the cable box tucked away tidily and have the tv at the foot of the bed without loads of unsightly cable wires protruding.

I got a Slingbox 500 for Christmas and I think I’ll be returning it after using this app.
The app is poorly optimized for iPhone X devices, including iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. If you have any of these devices, you’re out of luck — certain buttons will occasionally position themselves off the corners of the screen or behind the notch where they can’t be pressed easily (or sometimes at all.)
Furthermore, the home bar indicator does not disappear when viewing full screen, and will ALWAYS be in the way of what you are watching. Because apparently Slingbox engineers did not realize there is a feature called “Auto Hide” when programming this app. Here guys, I’ll get you started:

Internet coverage
When I purchased the Slingbox several years ago I was unable to clearly watch television through the Slingbox (at a location where there was very slow Internet service) as there was an unbelievable amount of buffering. Now that I am able to use the Slingbox through my iPhone app casting to my remote television, I now get television coverage as clear as my local television. With the use of Chromecast, the Slingbox deserves a five star rating.

2nd Sling Box upgraded
We upgraded to 500 few years back from 350 I think . Which was a blessing it was because of technology progression.
Right now there’s a little buffering going on. Not sure if it’s our WiFi which living on an island in FL. We do have some problems with WiFi. Love it been all over world and can stay in touch with our programs and news back home. We can watch our sports also. Enjoying it while I sling Baseball.

Any ideas how to get the video to play minimized in background when you’re not directly in the app? Or just running the audio? When I get a text and just want to read it, it seems to disconnect.

Finally a refresh
The casting function of the app barely worked for a long time. Big frustrating issues that were never addressed. They just released a new version and it works with modern roku products now and the issues with chrome cast seem to be resolved. Why it took so long to fix this I have no idea but it works great now.

Keep an Eye on Background Data
Just woke up to a notification saying I used 13 GBs on this app overnight.
I’ve used it for three years with great success but for some reason it didn’t close properly this time. I used it to catch the last 2 minutes of a game and then closed it right after. It chewed up about 1 GB of data per hour after that until I finally deleted the app when I woke up and saw the damage.
I’ve never had any issues with this app but now I have a pretty big overage bill from an app that wasn’t even open.

The Best
This has got to be the best thing ever made since the invention of television. I have owned and enjoyed the functionality of sling for years just an amazing product.
Sling gets better every year. Being able to catch all my tv on the is just incredible I’m still in awe of this products capabilities.
