Sol: Sun Clock is the Swiss-army knife of sunlight tools with a design inspired by the simplicity of the sundial. Use it to plan your day, guide natural sleep cycles, get the best light for outdoor photography, make sure animals or kids are safe inside before dark, or to map out the best times to go running or fishing.
* Be in tune: Sol will tell you when the golden hour is, how much sunlight you have left in the day or what time the next sunrise occurs.
* Look to the future, travel around the world: Sol lets you find sunlight information for any date, anywhere on earth.
* Find solar midnight and solar noon, and all three twilight (dawn and dusk) periods: astronomical twilight, nautical twilight, and civil twilight. Keep tabs on the next solstice and equinox.

Despite our best efforts in 5.1.1, users who had upgraded to iOS15 were still occasionally having their preferences zapped. We have made substantial additions to the code to try to protect users against any data loss. The app now keeps multiple backups of its settings file, and in addition, users may choose to manually back up their settings. (If you have had issues in previous versions, we recommend installing a fresh copy of the app by deleting your previous version first.)

The wheel now represents a full solar day for set location, which is not necessarily exactly 24.0 hours. The date bar now shows and sets the solar day for the location, not the clock time, which is shown separately and is independent from the solar day. The Almanac now shows solar day length and sun zenith at solar noon. Days with daylight saving time (DST) transitions will show the time change on the wheel. All known bugs were fixed, including those relating to using the forward and back arrows, daylight savings/summer time issues, and incorrect alarm times and repeat days. iPhone only: The info bar (under the date) now animates new information by default and remembers its state (double-tap to toggle). For example, it now takes advantage of Motion Control (the stars now appear to be behind the earth and the clouds in front). We've taken advantage of other iOS 7 UI features as well such as transparent UI elements.
Alarms now have 30-second versions when you set them to "persistent" mode. We added a new alarm sound as well called "Wake Up Gently" especially designed to rouse you at sunrise.
The chart now shows info for Sunset, Sunrise, Solar Noon, and Solar Midnight.
Many updates to help and glossary, reorganized menus, a new FAQ section, all with larger type than before.

Helps me get in touch with nature
People don’t pay attention to the sun like they used to, and since my modern lifestyle is indoors, I find it helpful for this app to remind me about various aspects of the sun. Half hour after sunrise is when the sunlight in my side room is most optimal for sun gazing. At sunset, are my children home? These are things I want reminders for, but my calendar or timer can’t help because it changes every day. This app is essential for those who want to orient their day around natural sunlight.

A really sweet app
I have other apps that will tell me this but I wanted to heave and app with some nice bells and whistles some nice sounds that will tell me about sunrise and sunset. This app has more other times from which to choose and I like enabling them and I like the different sounds because they remind me to pause and just appreciate being in nature. There are a lot of very cool visual features with this app that I’m sure I would enjoy if I could. However I use VoiceOver and would still like to see this app be a little bit more voiceover accessible. Otherwise I really love this app. I also wish it would continue with notifications even if the app is not opened every few days.

Alarms for living attuned to circadian rhythm
Love this app. I try to sleep and eat to match my circadian rhythm. I love the ability to set alarms so I go to bed at the right time to wake with the light. I also use it to schedule my first and last meal of the day to match the light and the sleep I need. Love it!
Minor request: I wish I could sort the alarms so I can look at my day and see the timing of my five alarms in the order they will go off. Can only do that now by deleting and re-entering until I get the order right.

Simple yet useful
A surprisingly useful little app. Find solar noon and apply sunblock before you cook. Use it to find the right time to take scenic photos. I imagine there are other uses as well. Simple to use also
2 years later. App is still under active development. The interface has been tweaked a bit to add some polish. Still very good at what it does. Sometimes an app doesn't need to have a million different functions. Simple can be awesome.

Exactly what I was looking for.
We have hens. They go perch in their coop at sunset. We close them in to keep raccoons from killing them. Go out there too early, and it’s a hassle to talk them into their coop. Go out too late, and a nocturnal varmint might be paying them a deadly visit.
Regular alarms don’t work for this purpose— I needed a sunset alarm and found this as soon as I searched for one. Thank you!

Still using this app after more than 8 years
Recently learned: You need to swipe the area under the date to show more info. Double-tap that to start or start a newsfeed animation. Favorite feature: set alarm for best time to go for a hike. Feature request: shadow of gnomon should indicate an approximate sundial effect.

Rise, travel or work at first light
I commute by bike and start at first light to avoid competing with cars on my route. The ability to set the alarm for civil twilight and even offset it for a few minutes after that event lets me know when its about time to leave for work.

Helps me be aware of useful light left in the day
I've had the app for a couple years now.
It's useful to help me schedule and get things done while still have available light. Which is even more important to me as winter night starts sooner. Thanks.

Love this useful tool
Bought this years ago and never had any issues using the app, I love this app especially when traveling and planning events it is helpful to know when the sun is setting. Never felt this way about an app before, so good so reliable

Spot-on Reviews...Nothing to Lose
I love this app! It’s like a little buddy who reminds me of things that are important. I can’t work in the dark, so I set it to remind me how much light is left, so I have time to roll up my gear. It also reminds me to shoot photos when the light is how I like it. So many spot-on great reviews. Get it! There’s nothing to lose.
