1.0.3
2019-06-10
FIXES:
- Video player banding issues fixed.
- Mission description and other UI texts are more readable now on smaller screens.
- iOS 13 ready.

IMPROVEMENTS:
- Slightly improved overall performance on all devices.
- More discrete "SKIP" UI button during skippable sequences in the game.
- Various smaller adjustments.
1.0.2
2019-05-29
NEW FEATURES:
- Added the "Restart Mission" option during gameplay. You are now able to restart a mission at any point during any of the gameplay stages. Just press the Restart Mission icon in the upper left corner to access the Restart Mission dialog box.
- Added a new option in game Settings called "Optimized Mode". Use this mode if your device is affected by poor Battery Peak Performance app auto-shutdown issue. If you experience the game shutting down on its own, enabling this mode will eliminate the problem. This mode also improves the performance a little bit, at the cost of mild visual quality optimization. Optimized Mode is automatically enabled for devices running A7 and A8 processors and cannot be disabled.

IMPROVEMENTS:
- Minor color changes to the Landing Zone Indicator and Speedometer, for better clarity in atmospheric worlds.
1.0.1
2019-05-24
BUG FIXES:
- On older devices that have an A7 or an A8 processor and a battery that is not in an optimal state, the game would close instantly after the intro. This is now fixed for the majority of devices that fit into that category.
- Devices that fit into that same category are now restricted from enabling the "60 FPS Mode".

IMPROVEMENTS:
- Auto-orientation is now functional on all notchless devices. On devices with a notch, orientation remains locked to landscape left.
- Improvements to the home screen icon.

Devilchaser,
One trick pony lacking critical info and options
[edit: +1 star for dev response].
As a Kerbal vet I had high hopes for this game, but was very disappointed. Many basic features this game needs to be fun / interesting are missing. I shouldn’t have to but I will list them here:

1. Choosing your own re-entry plan as part of the planning element.

2. A readout of total delta-V and duration of each re-entry stage during staging and actual play. Need impact time displayed as well. We have no idea what a good velocity is during the various stages so we can’t budget fuel use.

3. Maneuver thrusters DO NOT use the same fuel as the main engines and should not become disabled if you run out of main fuel.

4. Allow the user to adjust fuel load during planning stage, which affects TWR, delta-V, CofG, etc.

5. WAY more equipment options for basically everything in planning stage.

6. A strategic element where you actually plan the missions to satisfy overall planetary goals given a budget and other limitations. Your scope is WAY too narrow for this to remain interesting for more than 10 minutes.

I hate to say it but Simple Rockets has you beat and that’s a much older game that is basically made in Flash. New Dawn has lots of potential, but it needs to be fleshed out into a more engaging game.
philosopher23,
5 stars just for the hard work and creativity!
I think this is a great mobile game with very nice and fluid graphics, fitting and soothing music, and enjoyable gameplay. Nice job! I love how you’re very open to adding and improving to the game based on others’ input because that is the definition of an open-minded and successful creator. This game has plenty of potential for sure. Maybe the solar system could be moveable? The planets/moons could also be rotatable, there could be mini-games where the gameplay is different. The game is currently repetitive, you know? Very fun to play, but even as it gets more challenging, it’s the same movements and goals. Implementing iCloud save would be very helpful too if it doesn’t have it already. But I love the game’s mechanics, and I admire the work put into it! Can’t wait to see how the game evolves!

(One issue right now is that I’m stuck - I finished the missions on the moon, and I don’t know what to do to move on to Mars. I know that I need more resources, and it looks like I should replay the first missions, but I did and haven’t gotten more resources. What should I do? I’m sure I’m missing something.)

EDIT: I just read another review where you explained it. So I have to keep repeating the missions to gain resources. Never mind then, all good!
natey 44,
Ended my search for a good mobile game + a few suggestions
I’ve been getting frustrated lately because alot of mobile games these days have poor graphics, ridiculous ads and get boring after an hour or two. I came across this game in my desperate search for a good game and I was skeptical at first because of the cost, but after all the reviews were positive I installed it. This game is probably the best 2.99 I’ve spent with my apple account so far. The graphics are of Xbox/PS4 quality and the controls are incredibly smooth. My only critique would be for there to be a few more customizations available. Perhaps different tiers of landing legs that would be necessary for larger fuselages and would allow for higher touchdown velocities or optional meteor shielding to increase the HP of the craft. The higher the tier of these items, the more mass they would have and therefore play a role in the TWR of the craft. The discovery of this game has ended my long search for a good game and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an entertaining game.
WhiteyTP,
Lots of fun!
Well done developers! What a fun and initiative game! Like nothing I have ever played before. Having said that I’m a part time gamer, so games don’t come easy to me like maybe the rest of these pros. I’m good at entry, the level out but I’m absolutely horrible at landing. Anytime I’m out of the yellow land zone I may as well restart. Is there anyway you guys can make a training zone where I can practice on what I need practicing on, rather than having to restart each level. At that point you got an automatic 5 star for the game. If only I could go to practice landing over and over until I become proficient at it.

Again phenomenal game, I’m having a lot of fun!
nordhama,
Stuck at 80%
Fun game, however I seem to be continually stuck at 80% on the moon level, I complete the levels and still advance no further, I would also agree with the prior review of being able to retry the failed stage and not being forced back to the begging, perhaps allow this for easier difficulties but removed for harder difficulties? The game is fun and challenging I’m just lost as too why I’m stuck at 80% on the moon stage unable to advance.
Lordshadowz,
Definitely 5 *’s !!!
This game has beautiful graphics that are polished. Don’t want to see a cut screen? Just tap skip. The controls while simple to use, even for a disabled person like myself, still require a lot of skill to use. It took me 7 times to actually land the first time on normal. The game has so many unlockable parts and achievements as well as unpredictable missions. There’s so much fun to be had here for such a small asking price. Thank you devs for a beautiful and fun game. The physics are top notch. This game deserves a ***** rating easily. I noticed no bugs or lag on my iPhone XS MAX.
TwilkersonJr,
Bungie should be calling you soon
Destiny 1 and 2 needed this type of element to fill the void between planetary missions. Honestly what you have here is a literal masterpiece. Particularly as a multi-platform mobile game. I was a space and aeronautics nerd as a kid and grew up in the 80s(NASA’s glory years). My favorite game as a kid was the moon lander game that was in the Huntsville Space and rocket center in Alabama. This game is about as close as it gets to the mechanics but obviously a quantum leap on the graphics side of things. I wish you the best and look forward to seeing anything that comes down the DEV production chute.
Reviewer-1-2-3,
One of my favorite Mobile games to date
I love how the physics are realistic but at the same time not too hard to master. I really wish there was a way to for there to be procedurally generates planets so that I could play this game forever without the game ending, maybe you could attempt to add some time type of “infinite” mode; I would like to add that the graphics on this game are console quality and I am very surprised how you were able to pull this off without a phone overheating. Very well done.
irowboat,
Yes! Goodbye video banding and blazing skip button!
Thanks for fixing the banding on the video - I was only a couple levels in (had just unlocked past the moon), and it was worth restarting just to see the video in its full glory.

And excellent work on subduing the skip button - it’s WAY less distracting than it was against the black of space.

After playing more than the five minutes of my original review, I think I largely retract my suggestion of allowing restarts at approach/deceleration/touchdown segments - if ever you do consider it, I think I’d limit it only to the very first landing (while the tutorials are still guiding you).

If I could give any further feedback, it wouldn’t be the gameplay - that’s great thus far. Perhaps the font sizes and weights on the mission screens could be slightly more coherent, but now we’re really getting into minutiae.

Nice update!
Koolaid10199,
Great game
So, if I’m being honest...I didn’t love this game at first. I played a couple missions and I was like...okay? Now what.

Later that day, I think the visuals and music stuck with me...couldn’t get it out of my head. So I started playing it again...and I started to really love it. As the challenge ramped up, so did the fun. Seeing the numbers climb on your colony, figuring out the right load-out. The physics of a new planet...having to change your strategy. It is a lot of fun, and it doesn’t hold your hand, in a good way.

Oh, and I touched on it...but the music and visuals in this game are great.

I hope you keep updating this game, adding more content...because you have a gem that I will keep coming back to!
