Description

Now you can experience Don Bluth’s classic arcade game Space Ace, the follow up to the revolutionary Dragon’s Lair, in stunning HD!

In Space Ace you play the heroic Ace who must stop the evil Commander Borf from taking over the Earth! Borf plans to reduce all of humankind to infants and take over the planet. Only two people have the courage and strength to stop Borf and save Earth: the beautiful Kimberly and the heroic Ace. But as they approach Borf’s stronghold, Ace is hit by the Infanto Ray, changing him into a child, and Kimberly is kidnapped by the evil madman. Armed with only a laser gun, Ace must find and destroy the Infanto Ray, rescue Kimberly and save the Earth.

The fate of Earth is in your hands!

This release of Don Bluth’s legendary animated arcade game features video transferred directly from the high definition film master, delivering the sharpest images and most vibrant colors ever – far better than the original laserdisc release.

Simply press on the direction pad to guide Ace in the right direction or fire your laser gun and blast those aliens away.

Don Bluth and his production teams are the creative genius behind such beloved classics as The Secret of NIMH, An American Tail and Anastasia to name but a few.

Pick up Space Ace HD today and show your friends how great your iPad can look!

dohspc,
Needs update for latest iPad
Needs update for latest iPad 12.9.

Plays Terrible Don’t Buy
Ever since this latest update, they’ve removed key things. The ability to change the control size and switch from left to right. Also if you set the controls to no hints the movement displays disappear and you can’t play. The classic arcade screen is extremely terrible and unnecessary. I’ve had these on my iPad for over 3 years and loved them but since the update I’ve deleted all of them. If I could get a refund I would but instead I’d warn everyone don’t get it till they fix these issues.
Subterreign,
Dude… Dude! I mean, kinda heartbreaking…
One can’t even get past the first challenge, even if one has been able to get pretty far on Dragon’s Layer (from the same developer / publisher). Yeah, I know I’m old and don’t have the reflexes that I did can when these games were in their original laserdisc form in the arcades, but I’m also old enough to know when an app is totally buggy and in a way that can be discerned within just a couple minutes or two of initial gameplay. Bummer.
KeeperOfKeys,
Since recent update DONT WORK
iPad 2 worked beautifully until the recent update. No controls, screen shrunk, no sound sometimes. Why don't they fix it. It worked to well before. Dragons Lair is the same crap too since the update. Don't buy game is broken
Thing Three,
If you don't know what a laser disc is
or were not alive in 1983 you probably won't appreciate this game. For fans of the original it is disappointingly buggy. You cant get thru the first scene using the "table" controls setting and it still forgets to reverse the controls when some scene are flipped horizontally. But it does briefly take you back to that forgotten decade if you want to go.
musicfan121,
Finally done right!
I loved this game in the arcade, and this is the first version since that gives you all three difficulty levels to play since the original arcade game. I saw some people complaining that it's to easy to win and too short. The game comes set on the easiest level and the hints (move guide) are turned on. If you go into the settings and turn off the hints (move guide), then the arrow keys won't light up making it easy to play. Anyone can play with cheats and finish quickly. The challenge is to play at the Ace level with no hints and then tell me how long it takes to play! Great game, and one of the first where you are playing an actual animated cartoon. The game plays great on the new iOs8 system too! Don Bluth is still the master of hand-drawn animation!
Kurtclwtr,
AWESOME!
Ok ok ok... I have to catch my breath... I LOVE THIS GAME !!! This game is all about timing and for me memorization of sounds hehheh. I read other reviews that say there are parts missing.....let me tell you, as someone that shoveled buckets of quarters into Space Ace as well as Dragons Lair, THIS IS THE FULL GAME AND IT LOOKS SO GOOD! There are options at the beginning of the game (cadet, captain, and ace) they are not all the same game experience. ( that's all I'm saying so as not to ruin it) Also, once you get your groove on there is an option to turn on and off "move guide" that's admittedly harder than I thought. Trust me, if you loved it then, you will love it now. " get me outta heeeeear"
ifitsfreeitsforme,
Finished in about 20 minutes!! Too short!!
I finished this in probably 20 minutes or so. I thought maybe there were other levels, but when I went back to the game I only saw the main game. There were no other levels to unlock. While the graphics are incredible, the game is WAY too short and is most definiltey not worth $5. If you are looking for a game you can play for weeks (or even days), don't buy this. If you grew up with this style of gaming in the 80s and don't mind a very short game and don't mind spending $5 for maybe half an hour of entertainment, go for it.

Overall I'm very disappointed.
JasonCfromTX,
Just like the original
Despite some other reviews, I can tell you this game is just like the original. The timings are exactly like the old arcade version. I should know, I dumped a ton of quarters in that machine. The controls take a few minutes to get used to but it's a great game.
AgileSeeker,
Potential is here
Thank you for bringing this to the iPad.
If you improve stability (had it crash once so far in the second sequence), and utilize the swipe technology available t this platform so I can watch the animation rather than the d-pad at the corner of the screen, and perhaps two finger tap for energizing and shooting, I will happily give this classic a 5 star.
