"I like to ride my horse and shoot my gun(s)"
Most shooters are all about getting good at controlling your character and your weapons. That's why I don't like tap to shoot. However, I have to admit that if you give me enough other stuff to worry about when playing a shooter I don't seem to notice that I'm not really shooting and I can't move. In Space Fort (🖤) the players role is target selection & designation, weapons selection & management, defense, strategy and crisis management. These problems occur in real time - it's an arcade style game. This activity dominates ones attention easily as well as aiming. SF doesn't need maneuvering or positioning and there are no tactics surrounding encountering the enemy. Managing the viewpoint , learning the quirks of the isometric view and keeping abreast of the battle space is just as challenging as moving around is in other shooters. Oh and the guns heat up fast and it matters how targets are tapped out so twitch factor is good. Space Fort shows the old paradigm of fighting increasingly tough waves from a fixed position has a LOT of legs. The powerful sound is impressive. It's orchestral, funky, spooky and cool. The different guns make different sounds which changes as the gun heats and I said the music is the coolest, right ? The pacing and difficulty are pretty mature. The biggest problem is seeing what is going on when your hand is tapping all over the screen but using a stylus helps. Hopefully Space Fort can be further developed but it's a lot of fun now.
I decided to add my support when Space Fort was updated in Feb 2017.
