Description

Specialized Ride is your go-to app for recording bike rides, analyzing your cycling metrics, planning rides with friends, and cycling safely when riding by yourself.

BE SAFE ON YOUR RIDE
Have peace of mind on all your bike rides when you connect your Specialized ANGi sensor with the Ride app and enable Live Tracking.

If your ANGi detects a crash event where you’ve likely been knocked unconscious, your emergency contacts will be sent an email or text alert from your phone and notified of your location.

Live Tracking allows your emergency contacts to follow you along during your ride. Simply turn on ride alerts for an emergency contact and the app will automatically notify them when you’ve started a ride.

RIDE RECORDING & POST-RIDE ANALYTICS
Whether you’re training for a race or event, using your bike for commuting or getting around town, or to explore the trails with your friends, you can use the free ride recorder to track all of your bike rides.

The Ride app automatically tracks stats like speed, distance, time riding, and elevation. When you’re done riding, you can view the ride history and analytics tabs to see how your activity is trending.

We offer full integration with Garmin, Wahoo*, and Strava, so it’s extra easy to record rides and share them with your friends.
If you have a heart rate monitor, cadence sensor, or power meter connected to your Garmin or Wahoo device, you can see that data as well.

SPECIALIZED BIKE REGISTRATION AND WARRANTY ACTIVATION
Although you can record a cycling activity on any bike using the Ride app, riders with Specialized bikes can use the app to register their bike and activate its warranty.

COMMUNITY EVENTS & GROUP RIDES
Be on the lookout for community events, bike demos, and more on the community tab in the Ride app’s feed.

If you enjoy riding with others, you can join and create group rides in the Ride app. The group message board lets you communicate with riders who’ve joined the ride and keeps everyone informed.

When you’re looking for a ride to join, you can search for rides based on day, time, type, and distance.
If you want to create a group ride, you can import a route, choose an existing route, or create a route using the route planner.

ROUTE LIBRARY & ROUTE BUILDER
If you need inspiration for your next ride, the Ride app hosts an ever-growing global library of bike routes.

Additionally, we have an easy-to-use route builder tool that is housed on ride.specialized.com.

Once you’re done creating a route, you’ll be able to add it to any group ride that you plan. Riders interested in joining will be able to see a map view of the route, as well as distance, elevation, and whether the route is on road, gravel, or the trails.

NOTE: Continued use of GPS running in the background may decrease phone battery life
*Incoming Wahoo connections will need to be established on ride.specialized.com

The post-ride metrics have been greatly improved. Tap your completed ride's map and scrub the elevation profile to review your speed, power, cadence, and heart rate data (if those sensors were connected via Wahoo).

We also made some changes to the look and feel of how you connect to devices and add bikes to rides.
3.5.10

We changed the landing page. You’ll now open the app to see the “Feed” (a list of all the rides you can do with your friends) instead of straight to the record tab.

Oh, we also fixed an issue for users who were attempting to create an account with an email address that is already associated with an account. These users will now be prompted to sign in.

Ceesar,
Needed for Angi
I downloaded this mostly for the Angi crash sensor integration, but as a ride tracking app, it’s reasonably ok. Suggestions to make it even better (hope the devs are reading this): (1) make the “in ride” on screen buttons bigger and easier to tap when cycling, (2) currently the app auto pauses recording as soon as you stop moving. Suggest an option to turn this on and off - allow download and saving of maps for offline use, (3) don’t allow the iPhone to go to sleep while the app is running
PaulHDelman,
Underwhelming...
Specialized... with all their R&D and resources has grossly under delivered with this app and aNgi technology. The aNgi device is now 4 years old, and we still don’t have Apple Watch integration, still have to shake our head, or helmet violently to get the device to wake up, and still have to open the app... and ride with our phones. With Apple Watch fall detection, and Strava Beacon... this ANgi technology is completely useless. What’s more, Specialized now charges more for their aNgi equipped helmets, adding insult to the overpriced, useless device. Much like the new Aethos, I’m struggling to understand why the cycling industry needs these products from the Big S. Specialized is attempting to fill a void, that never existed to begin with. No frills bikes already existed, albeit at an affordable price... and crash detection apps/devices already existed, and worked exponentially better than ANgi. These products are fails... highly suggest researching their “need” before purchasing.
BLINK182FAN4LIFE,
Won’t connect to Strava or show my ride history
I got this app to connect to my crash sensor, and recently tried to connect it to Strava so that I could post the ride data. It will not open my activity, I just get a constant loading circle. When I try to connect to Strava it gets stuck sending me back and forth to the Strava app without ever actually connecting. I wish I could just connect the sensor to my Apple Watch and have it run through apple fitness, as this app chews through data and battery in the background just to allow me to use a device I had to pay $50 for. I love Specialized, I’ve ridden one for 15 years, but some tech support is greatly needed.
BudBlevens,
Something went wrong
June 20 I’m giving this another star. After contacting the developer thru the App Store I was contacted within a few hours asking for more information. We will see how this turns out but they deserve another star for responding so quickly.

App was great then an update broke something. Or there’s a server problem.
Until last update a text notification would be sent for start and finish of ride. Then it stopped and only email went.
I changed the email to the email address for SMS to phone but that fails. It’s like anything trying to go to a text fails.
I’ve tried different carriers with no luck.
Icedot was great. Early ANGi was great.
Now it doesn’t really help.
I ride a lot solo and out of my hometown. Please fix the messaging on start, finish, and emergency.
Wheredidalldanicknamesgo,
Decent start but needs revision
Wish there was an option for ride start and finish notifications to be sent via text. My wife loves the notifications but doesn’t check her email often enough for them to be relevant. By the time she notices that I’ve started a ride I’ve already put in 50 miles and done. If the notifications were text she would know within minutes.
Surf_socal,
I wanted to like it...
But it is just too clunky. Pages not loading, the weird community ride feature that goes pretty much unused, it just doesn’t work very well. And that’s a bummer because I have a lot of good aspects. I just loved and would love to go on some community rides. But sadly the app just doesn’t deliver. I gave it 2 stars because the Angi is nice to have and I think if they put more effort and money into it, it could be a good secondary app. It won’t replace Strava but there could be something there.
Amindy,
Too easy to end ride accidentally
New user here. I find it’s great app, and amazingly accurate. One problem: The “End Ride” button is in a bad spot along on the bottom edge of your screen. On newer iPhones this means you have to touch the end ride button and then swipe up to see the home screen. It’s way too easy to accidentally end your ride at a water stop part way through (especially if you’re in sunlight). Can you move the end/resume controls to somewhere else?
Hours user,
Very poor implementation of the safety function
I agree with the last review - the Ride app is a serious downgrade from ICEdot. I’m not interested in joining the Specialized “community”, I just want my family to find me if I crash. Unfortunately the app doesn’t seem to maintain connection to my phone’s GPS (even while Google Maps and Waze locate me perfectly), so that function is essentially useless.

I can’t fault the ICEdot owners for wanting to cash out their innovation, but by selling to Specialized they really ended up doing a disservice to the cycling community.
Cindy F2020,
Not working
I am having the same issues others have. I states there is an account error and to check if I’m connected to the internet...I am. Super frustrating. I emailed specialized, got an automated reply 3 weeks ago and nothing since. So basically have 4 helmets in my household equipped with Angi technology and cant use it. Super disappointed. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling nothing works. Tried on my phone and I pad, nothing. Have this for a month and can’t use the technology.
mbdresnick,
No internet connection
When I’m trying to create an account...after I enter my personal info I get a pop-up alert that says I’m not connected to the internet. When I’m in fact connected. That’s how I’m writing this review....

I read other reviews that said to log in using my info from another specialized app. Tried that. I get the spinning wheel of foreverness.

If we were playing dodgeball and it was picking a dead body or whoever created this app. The dead body would be more useful.
