Backed by cutting-edge sports science, SYSTM takes the guesswork out of training with personalized cycling, triathlon and running workouts; strength training, yoga, and mental training, all integrated into easy-to-follow training plans for every discipline.

SYSTM puts you in the middle of the action with a huge library of workouts paired to heart-pumping, motivating content. Experience what it’s like to be a professional cyclist with the ‘ProRides’ series, featuring first-person, on-board camera footage from the biggest races in the world. Train alongside Wahoo athletes and get a backstage pass to getting fast with the ‘A Week With’ series. Go ‘On Location’ to ride the world's most iconic routes, push yourself with a workout from ‘The Sufferfest’ collection, or get inspired with the ‘Inspiration’ series of cycling-focused documentaries paired to base and recovery sessions. You can even join your favorite Global Cycling Network presenters in the studio for a guided ‘GCN Training’ session that mimics an indoor cycling class. And if you want to stream your own content while doing a structured workout complete with on-screen instructions, fire up one of the ‘SYSTM NoVid’ sessions.

SYSTM works with most Bluetooth-enabled trainers and fitness devices so you can train to personalized power, heart rate and cadence targets.
Other training apps set power targets based on a simple percentage of your sustained power (FTP). SYSTM uses a comprehensive 4DP® fitness test to calculate your Rider Type, identify your strengths and weaknesses, and measure what you’re capable of across 4 critical performance metrics: Neuromuscular Power (sprint power), Anaerobic Capacity (1-minute power), Maximal Aerobic Power (5-minute power), and FTP (20-minute power). Using 4DP®, SYSTM then tailors the power targets in your workouts so you get the most out of the time you have to train. You’ll work at the exact intensity necessary to get stronger and faster, without wasting a single pedal stroke.

Use the SYSTM Training Plan Builder to configure your own easy-to-follow, comprehensive training plan for road, multisport, cyclocross, gravel, mountain biking, and eSports. Add yoga, strength training, and mental training to your plan for truly complete training. Every training plan is tailored to your fitness level and designed to deliver maximum gains with minimum time. Grounded in cutting-edge sports science and proven by victories in the most prestigious events in the world, SYSTM training plans deliver results.

Join the SYSTM Forum to connect with other athletes and get expert training advice directly from our team of world-class coaches and sports scientists. With decades of experience coaching athletes from seasoned pros to weekend warriors, the coaches at Wahoo Sports Science are committed to helping you achieve your goals.

Suffer, Couchlandrian
You want to crush it? You want to go from zero to a real cyclist? You want to slay the asphalt and chew up the tires of your foes? You want to see your improvements and track your performance in 4DP? Throw out your FTP-based training model and use The Sufferfest app. Pair it with your smart trainer, load up a training plan, and JUST DO WHAT YOU’RE TOLD to get faster, stronger, better, smoother, and more flexible. This is the only app you need. Backed up by world class coaches, trash your Peloton cart and log on. Not only is the investment here a lot less expensive, this app is designed to make you a better cyclist. Period. Motivational videos, real time feedback, adaptive workouts, progress tracking, achievements, challenges, a great forum, and REAL WORLD CLASS COACHES at your fingertips. All backed by science, experience, and PROOF. I am a real user. A proud Sufferlandrian. I can never go back. I will be a Knight of Sufferlandria. New Year’s Day, 2022.

I started from scratch at 40 years old, a month ago and I haven’t looked back. I am already stronger, faster, and have better form.

Maybe you can become a Knight of Sufferlandria. IWBMATTKYT, If you know it, you know it. It’s not a workout, it’s a culture and a lifestyle.
Seezle23,
Fantastic App/Training programs
Your wallet won’t ‘suffer’ as this is a well designed and motivating app to help you accomplish any goal. Versatile, easy to use, as challenging as you’d like with the best test I’ve used for power/FTP numbers. I trialed Zwift, TrainerRoad, Rouvy, Peloton and several free virtual cycling apps and found The Sufferfest to come out on top. The real UCI footage as well and Tours lead up breathtaking passes adds a new dynamic for keeping you motivated during the workout. You also have GCN indoor classes and no video option as well. Settings are completely customizable so you can see as much or as little data as you desire. Training plans are done by professionals and easy to follow. The mental toughness program was novel and has helped me tremendously, something I haven’t seen with any other app/program. The app has it all. Unless you’re dying for a videogame appearance I recommend Sufferfest for all your training/exercise needs. You can add to phone, iPad and even computer. Well done.
involuntarheely,
Lacking functionality
When airplaying, videos are sometimes choppy or not in sync with the audio (they restart midway) which is annoying when they should match the intervals. workouts must be done in the trainer and can’t be loaded on external devices (can’t follow your plan cycling outside with the good weather). during the half monty test, you’re supposed to keep your heart rate constant by adjusting power without ERG mode—this is frustrating and unnecessary. I couldn’t find a page in the app with a list of downloaded workout videos, meaning you’ll have to keep track or they’ll use up a lot of storage. in the UI, the settings button (small wheel) is in the corner next to the FINISH WORKOUT button. every time you want to change settings (eg to change from ERG to level mode as required by some poorly made workouts) you risk hitting the FINISH WORKOUT button. the top left corner in the UI is completely empty. App has not received any major feature updates in the last months (I have been using it for over 8 months with a $15/month subscription).

tl;dr: the plans are good but the money is wasted if the workouts can only be done inside on a trainer. other parts of the app are frustrating and poorly designed.
LeahFromColorado,
Unlikely to pay after the free trial ends
I have been using the regular Wahoo app for a year, adjusting resistance manually to do RPM and Trip rides from the Les Mills app. I just started the SYSTM free trial, as offered through Wahoo, and I am not impressed. I started with the Full Frontal 4DP test, as I imagine many people do. A full hour of race video, and it’s all white men?! Way to open the front door of the app with a "your kind not welcome here" message. Women and POC riders exist; if we aren’t on your radar for clips, are we on there for anything else? I was also taken aback by the lack of integration with the basic Wahoo app and controls. SYSTM seems to operate independently of Wahoo, despite the shared name, meaning you have to learn a whole new set of controls, and the ride history in one app isn’t connected to the other (you can’t even manually connect them through the authorized apps function on either side). I ignored the "don’t be in erg mode" warning in the FTP test because I wasn’t in erg mode (in Wahoo), but apparently SYSTM defaults to erg mode on its own, so I had to restart the dang test. Nor does SYSTM connect to the iPhone Health app. The FTP test was fine and I do intend to try a few more sessions, but I'm probably not a long-term convert.
PaulHDelman,
Very impressed
If you are new to indoor cycling, and have a trainer on order, do not use this app until you receive your smart trainer. Once you install the app and register your name, Apple will immediately activate your trial membership. There’s a window in the app that asks you when you want to start your trial membership, but Apple doesn’t work that way. Once you download it and register it’s activated… whether you have your smart trainer or not. Thankfully, there are people like Ellisa at Wahoo that can help. I’ve used the application roughly 5 times since I got it and I am very impressed. Ellisa was kind enough to respond to my initial review, and and ensure that I get a full 14 day trial. I’m very impressed with the product and even more impressed with wahoo support staff. Thank you.
Ginathisnicknamenottaken,
Four years, still my fave app
I love to hate the four dimensional profile test (will truly challenge you in at least one of the four areas, if not all 4) and think this is the best system for improving as a cyclist short of a professional coach and team. Do the test, do a training plan, and see if you don’t make improvements in your fitness also.
New videos are great—they have some recovery rides with movies, some no video, and Norway is a cool very immersive experience. I’ve tried Zwift (fine for just going) and I’ve used Rouvy, but SUF tailors the workouts to you so well that it’s a much better workout. Try it!
The one and only Cannoli,
Great app, but a few gripes...
Absolutely love the content, but the app can use some refining. First, when doing a workout with a video, if you background the app to change your music, or in my case, switch to my home automation app to turn on my trainer fan, upon returning to the Sufferfest app, the video no longer plays. The workaround is to go to settings and disable video playback with the toggle switch, then re-enable playback. Definitely an annoyance.

The second thing is the ability to maximize the video by double tapping the screen no longer works. Expanding the video filled the wide screen TV that I AirPlay to. Now I have two rather large black bars on the top and bottom like watching a letterbox video on an old fashioned 4:3 TV. This change has actually been in place for some time. I just haven’t reviewed the app until now.

Finally, the sensitivity of the button to change the 4DP settings from individual to all at once requires pinpoint accuracy. Trying to make the adjustment at 95 RPM is an exercise in futility. I can literally see my heart rate increase from the frustration.

Come on Wahoo! Time to listen to user feedback and refine what could be a 5-star application!
mrgmisafatasticalhuman!!,
Lost some important (to me) functions
The new app no longer has the “Passport” feature where you can see all the Sufferfest workouts you’ve completed and the workout videos no longer show the last time they were ridden. Now, all previous ride history resides in the Calendar but there’s no search function so if you want to see when you last completed a certain workout or compare power/heart rate of a current workout with previous efforts, you have to scroll through years of calendar page in my case. To Wahoo’s credit, they responded to my inquiry very quickly and said added search functionality is on their roadmap for future development. For this user, for now, the new added features don’t outweigh the features that were lost and I would go back to the old version if I could.
VailFolk,
Pretty good app, could be better
I like this app a lot. It is engaging and provides good workouts. A couple of things that I hope can be addressed are the missing calibration function within the app for smart trainers, and better post 4DP test training program indication. I am not sure what training program to choose to improve my weaknesses and build on my specific strengths. Seems this should map out pretty easily as this seems to be their differentiator from other apps. I’ve used Zwift a little and Trainer Road a lot and like the look and feel of Sufferfest the most. Hopefully the get their feature set dialed in with Wahoo acquiring it!
Lobachevskii,
Poor execution, still
Ever since Wahoo took over Sufferfest they have struggled to maintain functionality in their app. Initially, I’d thought this was just the pains of integration, but we’re way beyond that. Issues that still plague the app: loss of paired devices on a regular basis, including ones sold by Wahoo, inability to change from portrait to landscape aspect ratio, loss of history from the Sufferfest app, failure to support older devices such as iPads or iPhones that don’t run the very latest version of iOS (is it really that hard to simply leave an old version of the software out there with no promise that it will work? Why delete them?).

Wahoo devices, especially the bike computer, are best in class, wonderful, and user friendly. Too bad their app is such a terrible clunker.
