Create a personalized list of words to practice. Test your spelling - hear each word spoken. Get a star for each correct word. Practice just the words you have yet to master. Retest your words at anytime. Students can practice their words independently.

Originally designed to be a replacement for a student's spelling notebook which lists words to be learnt for school each week. Unlike a paper notebook, SpellingNotebook can speak each of the words to enable testing and practice without seeing the written word. SpellingNotebook contains a full searchable spelling dictionary so that words can be added directly to the student's word list, minimizing entry errors.

Note that recording your words on iPod touch models prior to the 4th generation requires an external microphone. The record button will prompt you if Spelling Notebook detects that no microphone is available.

Great app, paying extra is worth it 🤩

I got this app to study for an upcoming spelling bee at my school.
- I recommend this app for sure if you need to practice spelling words but have no one to say the words for you

I was sad to find out that I could only put 10 words on a list… since I had 350 words to learn.
Luckily the premium version was only ~$2.00, once I paid I was able to put as many words as I wanted to.

The app has a great feature where you can choose whether it shows you the spelling and how many tries until it does show how to spell it.

Most of the time the pronunciation is clear but if it is not then you can record your own pronunciation of the words.

When making the lists you can search for words that are currently in the dictionary, if they are not yet you can add the words anyways and the “voice” pronounces them correctly.

When you test yourself on the words you are given a chance to retest the words you missed.

Overall, this is a great app for those who need to practice specific words for the spelling bee or words you are challenged with in general.

- one suggestion I have is to add a dark mode or background color change so the app isn’t as harsh on your eyes if you are studying in the dark… but I love this app A LOT ❤️❤️❤️

So helpful

This app has helped me so much with my Spelling in one day even though you can’t fit more than eight words in one list you can always make two lists and add more words if there is one thing I would change I would let there be at least 10 words in one list but other than that this is an amazing app and I haven’t found another like it it really looks at helping kids who aren’t the best at spelling and Me who struggles with spelling very much I found this is one of the most helpful apps please get this app it is very helpful

We love it.

My kids really love this app. We used to have to go over the words on the way to school in the mornings with me reading them out. That wasn't so safe while driving. This makes it easy for me to record the words and hand them my phone in the mornings and we use the test setting instead of the practice setting so I can see how they've done and what we need to work on. Also could totally be used in other ways like recording vocabulary definitions and just using the word "test" on every one so it would say "test then the definition" and then the kid would type in test but say the right vocab word out loud so they can test themselves. Idk just thinking outside the box.

Best app to learn spelling for kids

Love this app. I can create list They have option to practice first by looking at the spelling and typing it as well as app calls the word. Practice can be done as many times as you want. Then kids can attempt the test in which app calls the word and kids will type the spelling Once all the questions for that list are done, app will show if there are any wrong spelling. App will show what was spelled by kid and what is the correct spelling so kid would exactly know what he or she did wrong. Also, you can email your percentage to someone after the test

Absolutely wonderful!

This is by far the best spelling app out there!! I wouldn't be surprised if it was created by a mom. It has just about everything you need for you and your child to increase their spelling skills. It keeps track of their time, they can practice and test and even email the results. You can see their scores, what they've missed, what they practiced on and for how long, what they tested on and how many times they did..... it's amazing.

Mediocre spelling practice

My daughter is practicing for her school spelling bee, and overall it is an okay app, but only for elementary school spellers. I only wish there was an option where spellers could spell the word out loud, and maybe the parent could mark it as right or wrong. This app also does not give you a definition of the word, or a sentence as an example. I would only recommend for non-serious spellers, or for a simple 10-20 word test. The list my daughter is practicing with is part of the Scripps list, and it is a pain to list over 100 words in the app, as it takes a while to load audio too. Most of the time the female voice that plays the word does not pronounce the word very clearly and my daughter had to say Repeat the word, please over and over. Please look into these problems. Overall is a pretty ok game.

Awesome and fun

Spelling notebook is learning me how to spell I’m not very good at spelling but I can do it as long as I have this app. It is very good because your parents can you type the words and you can practice. They say I can make my own words are pretty high but I can do it standing up for what I do understand. It works very good and it has no ads that’s a great thing for what i got it today today’s the only day I had it. Edit Works Very good.

Really, really good!

We have a 5th and 3rd grader and this has been wonderful! We load their words on Mondays and they test daily twice, once before school while waiting on the bus, and once in the afternoons. They both have weekly spelling tests at school on Fridays. They've both scored 100% on all spelling tests this year! Really happy with this app! Ads not so good to deal with but the spelling app is great!

Importing words

The import words from another list option doesn’t seem to work with the latest version. You choose the words to import but then the only option is to go back twice and then click done and they aren’t there. Also, I wish that there was a way for it to give the words in the same order they were entered and not randomized.

Pretty Good, Could Be Better

Okay, I am a 5th grade terrible speller. This app definitely helps. It could be better. Here is a list of things I like/ dislike about Spelling Notebook.

❤️LIKE❤️
• You can practice your spelling without someone reading the words.
• Can work without internet ( I think I didn’t try yet.)
• Helps you learn spelling
• You can learn and test yourself

😕DISLIKE 😕
• You can only add eight words at a time
( Definitely the worst part about this app for me)
• There are no spelling games
• Sometimes it doesn’t pronounce the words right

Those are my likes and dislikes about spelling NB. All together a good app.
