Duran Duran's keyboard Nick Rhodes mentions Star Walk as his favorite app:

“It’s brilliant, and if you’re ever somewhere with a clear sky and no light pollution, it’s a revelation. It’s beautifully designed and makes clever use of the available technology. I’m fascinated by astronomy, but even if you’re not, give this a go.”

Star Walk HD now works with Apple Watch to alert you of upcoming astronomical events.

Key features:

- Night sky map with thousands of stars, constellations and other sky objects
- Real time celestial bodies tracking
- Augmented reality view

- Extensive information about celestial bodies
- The ability to travel in time with “Time machine”
- Astronomical calendar with various celestial events
- Stunning space pictures in “Picture of the Day”

1) It is likely that ISON is not going to be the comet of the century. Nevertheless, we decided not to remove it from the app.

2) You can now turn on Picture caching in the Star Walk Settings. When caching is ON it will download the content only once and store it on your device. However when caching is OFF it will save you some space on your device.

3) Minor adjustments in texts and tables in Info to make them more readable.

4) Chinese localization improved.

My fellow Stargazer,

I think I might have made a couple mistakes in the code when I digressed in careless dreaming about distant galaxies. Ah, Andromeda Galaxy... In any case, if your app is behaving funny, feel free to download the update.

Fixed bugs:
- Misinterpreting the Calendar dates for astronomical events in different Time Zones
- Moon Phases for Sky Live window
- Minor bugs fixing

Yours truly,
Star walk developer.

My dearest Stargazer,

It's been awhile since we’ve talked, but I am happy to catch a moment and thank you for your letter. It was really kind of you to let me know that you are there and that you care. It almost made me feel like I was Santa in my own little way, making stargazing wishes come true. After careful consideration, I decided to fulfill the following wishes:

- Ultimate Calendar of the most important stargazing delights, it will tell you what’s up and even set an alarm
- Comet tracking (Halley, ISON, PANSTARRS, and Lemmon)
- Iridium flares
- Constellation artwork on/off

I know it's not much, but I'm hoping you will accept this as a small token of my gratitude and belief in future friendship. I have a lot more work to do, so I guess I better go get to it. And I am always happy to chat on Facebook and Twitter!

Best of stargazing,
Touched Star Walk Developer

My Dear Fellow Stargazer,

This update will make your app not crash (if it did). I also added a 3D model of the Newton satellite and fixed the bug with the Arabic language.

I have thought a good deal about what to add to this magnificent app of ours and well, to tell you the truth, it appears as though Star Walk is perfect. My magnum opus is complete. What to do, what to do... If you have any idea what it is lacking please - I beg you - tell me. Because I really don’t know. I always read AppStore user reviews and letters in [email protected] mailbox, not to mention Facebook and Twitter, where I spend way too much time.

Sincerely,
Brooding Star Walk Developer.

I LOVE this app! I’m 61 and have always loved watching and reading about space and the universe, like Carl Sagan, etc. It’s really great getting push messages about upcoming events, and also pointing my iPad up at the sky and it knowing where the stars and satellites are and naming them. This was the first app I ever bought when I purchase my first iPad and it is well worth the few dollars. I’ve enjoyed it for years. And oh yea, I can’t forget the great background music, you’ll feel like your at the science center viewing the stars!
StankeeDee,
One of my favorite apps
I forget when I installed this app on my iPad but after I moved out of the city to a place where I could really see the stars it's become my most used app. I've learned to recognize constellations, observe satellites, notice various asteroid showers, and best of all, track the Milky Way across the night sky. I've even taken up night photography to capture some of the magic myself. I keep the music off so I don't wake anyone. I love this app! Heavenly.
Casmusings,
Amazing app
Point your device at the sky anywhere and see what's there. Tap on stars, planets, and satellites to learn more about each. Even when it's too cloudy to see stars, or daylight, or you want to see what's about to peek above the horizon, or point at the ground to see what's in the sky on the other side of Earth, this amazing app shows you what's around us. My kids are just as enamored. I've loved StarWalk for over 6 years and it keeps surprising....
Kate61699,
Definitely recommend
Bought it long time ago and never regretted the couple of $$ I paid. One of the best apps in the store - both fun and educational. You can look at the sky, stars, planets, constellations and even satellites, and see what is above your head. And if you need more info - tap on the object and it'll give you more information. Just awesome for somebody who is not professional astronomer but curious about space.
BigFatDrum,
Every minute on this app is EXCITING!!!
You're going to love it.
The adjustments are phenomenal!
There's a slide bar to adjust the density of all the stars to see. What that means is you get to blow your mind of all the stars there are mapped, (omg!!!) or you can thin out the ones further away and see what's right in front of you for less confusion...But there's nothing confusing about this app! There's another slide bar for the time clock you can free wheel and see satellites and stars move in their as is orbits. Truly a visual to be seen!!
Day or night, see how to navigate...
There's extra info on stars and satellites when you touch click them.
Get your kids on this app ASAP!
Thank you to all the developers as many times as there are stars, I love this app.
BillG65,
One of my first: still my first "go to"
Star Walk was one of the first, if not the very first, Astro App I downloaded shortly after getting my iPad. I now have a good number of such apps on my iPad. But, years later, Star Walk is still the one I normally turn to first for my nighttime sky adventures. Perhaps it's just because I'm so familiar with it. Perhaps it's because it's just that good.
Mike bis,
Greet app for anyone of any age.
I had this app on an older iPad and forgot about it.
I bought several other apps to get all you get in this
One. One only showed the stars and wasn’t real time.
The other showed just satellites. This shows everything!
The stars , connotations, satellites, just about everyone that’s
Been sent up by every country since spud nick, and planets
and ISS. You get it all in one app. You can just tap any star,
satellite, etc and it gives you in depth information on it I forget if it’s free or not but if it’s not free I’m sure it doesn’t cost much
and it’s worth it. An older app but it still looks ahead of its time.
Best app for the casual star gazer or Astronomer.
Capt Cy,
Star Amazing Walk
I love this app. We are full time RV and love to see the stars at nite. With this app we know just what we are looking at as we move around the country and the sky changes above us. With the calendar we can see when the ISS or planets will be in our view along with comets or meteor showers. I also love the red light at nite with the sky view. Too cool!
Bill from Benicia,
Amazing guide, info at right time
What a great teaching and learning tool. Now I can really look at somethings with my telescope. The live sky while holding my iPad upside down matches looking up like a window into what your seeing, moving direction, up, down, even what you might see (or just missed) just over the horizon.
Lucy1256,
Incredible app
I have had this app. For about four years and although I have tried others I continue to go back to this one. They let you know when something visually coming up to see, like meteor showers are able to view and the graphics are awesome. For anyone interested in looking up, I say get this one, you won't be sorry.
