Description

Update: Has now featured in "Best New Games" and "What We're Playing" in the app store!

One man's junk is another man's galactic battleship...

In this addictive arcade-style twin stick space shooter, you (a disgruntled waste collector) salvage the debris from each round of your destructive rampage to piece by piece transform your humble space-garbage-truck into a starship worthy of your cause.

Build increasingly better ships to unleash powerful weapons and gadgetry -- lasers, giant ball-and-chains, anti-gravity orbs, heat seeking missiles, magnets, freeze rays and more -- against endless waves of enemies and huge, modular bosses.

You'll never survive. But if you're going down, you're taking as many of them with you as you can. See how long you can continue the anarchy!

Thickhair2112,
Jeeeez. Best game ever!!!
You start out with a clunky ship but as you find ship parts you upgrade constantly until you are a killing machine. Extremely addictive to try out each weapon and combinations of weapons to find the ultimate layout.
I've finally unlocked the final mode that allows you to use the entire grid to build a monster ship...
Worth far more than they are asking... I was late to the party but thank goodness I didn't miss it. Really well done game... Congrats to the devs. Should have been promoted as apples game of the week (or month!)
Gavonyx,
It’s good I guess
Some of the weapons are pretty useless, like the ball and chain.
After playing through for a bit you get better and better weapons, it’s got a good system for getting parts; blowing up bosses.
The upgrades/weapon switching mechanic is mediocre. Every time you switch, the weapons are shields you have are dropped to the lowest level and you have to rebuild all that power, but you’ll eventually run into a different weapon type by accident, again resetting your power.
I think a good way to fix that would be to, instead of resetting your power to 1, every time you switch, the power goes down by one. Or something to that effect. Of course you’d have to build up the powers separately.
Overall it’s fun and it’s kept me engaged for over a week —despite its problems.
Geistzilla,
Rare great game
This is a well-balanced, well-crafted game that doesn't take itself too seriously. It is easy to pick up and play but deep enough that the hours will just fly by. The customization available for your ship is impressive. It's an intuitive system but not everything is immediately apparent. It took me a while to figure out the red shields repel bullets and missiles but do little to stop lasers. Fans of the original Star Control will appreciate the top-down perspective, inertia based controls, and large variety of ships.
Khadrelt,
Fun, but frustrating
For the most part this game is a lot of fun, but the weapon switching part is so annoying it kind of ruins the whole thing. You can spend a lot of time and effort getting your current gun upgraded, and then just accidentally touching an upgrade for a different gun instantly switches you to that type and drops you clear back to the lowest level. It's so annoying when you're going after a huge boss with upgraded weapons, only to suddenly be dropped back to the lowest level of a gun you don't want to use simply because an upgrade for that gun happened to wander too close in the middle of the battle.
Nod-n-Grin,
Look 👀 at the stats,
All but two, I repeat, ALL BUT TWO, of the ratings that are 3-stars or less were given four years ago and they refer to problems that have, with the exception of controller support, been remedied. There is some learning curve with regards to choosing and equipping the various vessels, but isn’t that what makes for a long period of enjoyment in a challenging and complex game universe?
So dig in, this game is well worth the effort...and you CAN, with patience, do well WITHOUT any 💸IAP💸.
Sims Bushell,
Why would you add the drone bay?
This game is kind of good it’s kind of fun but the only problem with it is the drone bay it’s literally 200,000 pieces literally wasted why? Well because it does nothing I waited more than five minutes in a fight with other ships and nothing came out of it I literally wasted 200,000 pieces just for a piece of junk that does nothing please tell me if it actually does anything I tried it about three times still nothing comes out how come the anti-missile launcher works but this doesn’t I don’t understand
KamuriKamuri,
Great...but I can't wait for the Vita version!
All in all, a very addictive game - one that encourages experimentation in layout as well as strategies but still gives you a solid arcade experience regardless - well done. Only criticism: even with the well-implemented touchscreen controls, I personally think the forthcoming ports for systems like PS Vita will prove superior due to the finer control and increased screen space (i.e. no need for touchscreen). Still a great game though!

Savagely Addictive Carnage
This is a great game, and about as addictive as they come—short (especially at first) intense bursts of exquisite carnage. The “achievements” list has some pretty fun challenges that can require a lot of experimentation with ship customization in order to complete. It would be great if more of them could be added. Overall a very thoughtfully designed game.
Murdock Scott,
Greatly enjoyed!
I normally ignore games with IAP, but I am glad I made an exception with this one. I picked it up while it was on sale and discovered that I loved it. I played it close to four days straight any time I had a free moment I liked it so much that I picked one of the IAP that I didn't really need to spend a little money on as to support the developer. It's quite fun.
Dan_T_C,
Easily The Most Entertaining App...
Starborn anarkists unique gameplay is extremely compelling. While I initially felt that the game fell somewhat short of my expectations, I have become more engrossed in it as time goes on.

The game combines endless combat with a creative building element that allows you to design a ship, try it out, improve it, and continue!

While it is endless you will find that the limitless ship designs will make every run through an awesome experience, and the motivation to find more ship parts and become a wrecking machine will compel you to play and have fun much longer than your average game.

Easily the best $3 I ever spent on the App Store! ^_^
