Phx2022,
Have you heard of the Stitch Community yet?
If not, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Stitch is a unique online community (not a dating site, but I suppose it can be) that I discovered some months ago and joined up. It's designed to help bring people together for virtual/in-person get-togethers to meet fellow Stitchers but is much more.
There are many, many groups on a variety of topics and discussion boards that are very active.
This week I decided to step outside my comfort zone and create my own event (Stitch makes that so easy!) to invite a group to join me for coffee Friday morning.
Their message is they want to cure loneliness, and I think they've created a fantastic model to do just that. Check it out.
Persistent Gra,
The Real McCoy
This is the way a dating, community building, friendship maker, hobby supporting, idea bounce board is supposed to work. Stitch works very hard to validate that who you think you’re communicating with is an actual person. I have been on other apps that only do dating and they do it poorly.
I have only been on Stitch for a short time and I very happy. I can actually discuss issues of importance to the cream of society…those who have navigated to the top over many years of experience.
So far I met several ladies one-on-one (real people), gone to several activities set up through Stitch (again real people in attendance) and had gotten knee deep into very serious topics via the discussion groups…they are comprised of people from all over the world. I actually mentioned I could help out other members attending activities until I realized most of the discussion participants lived half, or more, world away.
Anyway I digress and just want to say joining Stitch is like moving into a college dorm. Plenty of whatever makes you happy…and therefore makes you healthier.
TRY IT, an actual option, and I can almost guarantee (from my Vaast (sic) experience it is great.

My Stitch Experience - Dorette Headley
I actually signed up with Stitch in November 2918. I did nothing until August 25, 2020 when I decided to visit the website and there has been no turning back. It is an understatement for me to say I am having an enjoyable experience on Stitch. It has become my “go to” place to stop for so much fun as well as serious workshops presented by a facility in Australia which deal with aspects of mental health (particularly as to how this malady can affect the aging).

I have been able to “attend” various activities hosted by members at different times of the day. Participation leads to the forming friendships which are very real with persons I meet at theses events. As I speak about the activities, it should be noted that Stitch has been very creative and innovative during this time of the global pandemic in making available the ability to attend these activities virtually via Zoom, a Video Chat and Skype.

I have only positives to say about my newly-found relationship with Stitch.
Spiritruth,
I have been a member since 2015
I have been a Stitch member since before the San Francisco Launch Party in August 2015. I was looking for a way to make more friends and to have more activities to go to, and Stitch is the answer for those of us 50 and older. Before the pandemic, I had met a couple of groups of people who loved comedy, as I did. And almost once a month, one group or the other would go out for dinner first and then go to see a show at a comedy club. Sometimes, someone in the group had a few free tickets, so we just had to pay for our two drink minimum. I also went to movies with some people, and many other gatherings. Once the pandemic started, there were Zoom meetings about various topics.

I would highly recommend joining this great group of people.
MissHappy Camper,
Perfect for connecting virtually
This is a great site for meeting other humans, not just looking for dates, though that happens too for many.
I have found the discussions to be a great and easy way to wade into relearning social skills after a long absence due to life circumstances. (Covid being one)
While some may express frustration with the site because they are expecting the same old same old dating site behaviors - I would urge anyone who is lonely and wanting make friends to try out the discussions and virtual activities then move into IRL activities if that is your cup of tea. Lot’s of fun, real people just like you are there.
This site has been life changing for me. I hope everyone finds it.
Kew Stitch,
Stitch
No, not as some think a group for sewing enthusiasts!
I first heard of Stitch when I lived in the US, but I was moving so didn’t follow up.
On arriving in the UK, I suddenly remembered and joined, but then got busy, so, like many people I didn’t do anything with them for ages. Thank goodness for email!! I got an email inviting me to something and that really was the start of something big:)
I’m outgoing and love to organise so became a Community Champion so I could get to know people and do things. Stitch is big in Australia where it started, and also in the States.
We want it to be equally big here, but we need YOU!!
Have to say that it has been a godsend during the Covid lockdown. I had just moved to a new town and didn’t know a soul, now I know people from Australia and the States, but not only that, I’ve met - virtually - people from Peru, Hungary, Africa and elsewhere who live in those countries!
There are groups covering all sorts of interesting topics, discussion groups that sometimes make your hair curl...lol, and help when you need it.
If you’re looking for something new, fun and here in the UK, come check us out and expand your circle.
B_Boomer_49,
Cannot set up account — all good now!
Update: Tech support guru Jay and Founder Andrew were super helpful - turns out I had signed up years ago and forgot. They have strict security protocols and explained the mysterious error message I received was intentional as a way to deter hackers. I haven’t had time to really participate yet but Stitch is expanding their reach and it sounds timely and interesting. Many thanks for the great customer service!

Saw Stitch on TV. Tried to set up acct on my PC and my iPad using the app Can’t do it. No guidelines for password syntax are offered. Keeps giving me error msg. I’m an expert internet user. No tech support menu and not covered in FAQs.
Maranzas,
Started ok, but...
I joined Stitch 2 years ago. Found it on advertising in my Facebook page. Met a few people from my area and some not so close, made some friends. Even had the pleasure to meet the founder, Andrew during a trip to Australia. Lovely gentleman. Unfortunately had to deactivate my membership. Not worth it anymore. No advertising in my area, resulting in no members or activities. All my local friends left Stitch after the first year. Great concept but no way to keep it going globally. If they ever become popular in my area I would rejoin.
BuffaloNic,
I was dubious at first, but I’ve come to really love this community.
I find the app very easy to navigate, and a cinch to install.
The community is very welcoming, intelligent, interesting, and kind.
While I curate my activities fairly carefully, I’ve been delighted to try new discussions and zoom groups.
If you have any hesitancy, I would join as a free member and pretty quickly you’ll find that you want to be a paid member.
SAS4832,
Scam.
What a scam. I signed up because it looked like there were local events lined up, in my town. Nope, found out they were not real events! The guy pictured does not live here! They are just “ideas”
I tried to do group event myself, but found out there are only 3 members in my town.
I tried to cancel or at least make sure I would not be auto-renewed. Nope, can’t do that on the app. You have to email support, and then they tell you they cannot cancel you or even make sure to turn off auto-renew!! What?! You have to go through apple, and request it through this form.

The Stitch app is horrible. Don’t waste your money.
