This game is a must play
today’s mobile game industry is filled with extremely low effort games with tons of forced ads that lie about other low effort games that are exactly the same so the developer can make a quick buck, this game stands out, not only is it clear just by the game’s amazing style that it very clearly took a long time to make, the fact that literally everything in the game is made out of Unicode characters is amazing for instance the symbol for the fire element is the Greek letter phi Φ, it’s a super unique style that I’ve never seen in a game before, along with its amazing style the game is fun, plus there is not a single forced ad, you can watch one or two here and there for extra stuff but if you don’t want to you won’t watch a single ad. If you are still on the fence about this game just try it, I will say it does take between 30-45min to get to the real rpg part of the game but it’s extremely fun once you get there. Seriously though give this game a try, if you like it then keep playing it, if you don’t well no harm done just uninstall it.

Absolutely a must play if you like idle games/autobattlers
Literally my ONLY complaint about this game, and the only thing holding it back from 5 stars imo is the inventory system in both the bag and workstation. PLEASE add an inventory filtering/management system. Progression is tied directly to upgrading items, and it’s extremely difficult to keep track of the items you want to keep with no functional organization, and extremely tedious to sort through your entire inventory every time you want to upgrade your items. I’ve only just started the icy ridge area and it’s already to the point that I don’t want to bother. I genuinely enjoy playing the game, but I’m finding I want to play less and less every time I open it and spend 20-25 minutes sorting through my inventory for that one item I want to upgrade and it’s dupes. It makes an integral aspect of the gameplay…entirely boring. If I could sort by star level, enchantment type and weapon type, and maybe a way to lock items I’d like to save(at minimum, but I’m a sucker for complex inventory systems)I’d definitely both enjoy the game more and be more motivated to play.

Aside from that, this is easily one of the most creative and fun mobile games I’ve ever played(and as an added bonus ads are hardly present and not an essential part of progression or gameplay)I hope to see more content like Stone Story in the future. Keep up the good work Devs!

This is a amazing game
This game is amazing because most games are boring and just clicking games or idle games, but this is different, it’s an amazing story telling game with lots of descriptive words that help you imagine everything while still giving you visuals. This game is different from the rest though, because I’m pretty sure the developers and the other people who have worked on this game only used characters from our keyboards! But don’t let this stop you from playing the game because it is really amazing and, just because there are no colors doesn’t mean it’s bad.
Please just get the game and see how amazing this game is before you have to pay to play this game! Lastly they spent over 7+ years to make this so let’s be happy they didn’t sell it for 10- 20 dollars (even though it probably should be more because of how good this is). Thank you devs for making this game.

A truly unique game worth every second
Do not listen to the furious one star ratings on this, it’s free, at east try it for yourself. there are exactly two places where you can even get ads and one of them is entirely optional for a little bit of bonus loot, and the “forced” ones actually shorten the amount of time you spend waiting. (It’s hard to explain without spoiling the game sorry) not to mention this game is hardly pay to win. That alone is absolutely standard breaking for a mobile game, especially one of this caliber. But that is the top of the iceberg, I could go on and on about all the different ways this game is fantastic but my review writing skills couldn’t do it justice. Please, please, PLEASE just download it and devote a couple of minutes to it and you’ll love it. If ya see this devs, you deserve all the praise (and money!) in the world, keep it up.

Honestly one of the better games out there
This game heavily reminds me of another very unique game called brogue in the fact that it’s made out of Unicode and that it’s a role playing game but regardless I love the RNG elements and the characters/enemy’s are all very unique. I enjoy the wording in this game it makes it feel so much more alive than most games and very far from generic. My only gripes is the micro transaction as it locks some cool things behind a pay to win but it doesn’t make the game any less enjoyable which I absolutely love. And the fact that it’s mostly an idle game aside from some of the decisions, weapon abilities, and inventory management as I feel it take away a little bit of the free-ness but as I said about my previous statement it does NOT take away anything. 10/10 definitely will be playing again once I finish this run

Watch a let’s play instead
Look, I couldn’t bring myself to rate this game any lower than 4 stars because it is 5-star creativity on display and I applaud the effort and artistry, I wish there were more games with art and soul like this, but in terms of actual gameplay, it’s not good. I can’t play any more of it because it’s very much grinding: the game. It feels like there’s less actual gameplay than your average clicker. You prepare your little dude and then sit back and watch him grind. I have stuff to do besides leave my phone out for hours looping the areas, and that seems to be required to progress without paying.
Over all, I’d love to support these developers, but this game is rough. Crafting needs better organization, and I’d like to have more input in my character’s fights. Even a fast forward button would greatly help this game. Great ideas, poor execution. Honestly, go watch a let’s play.

Great concept, awesome little game
This game was suggested to me by my son and I’m glad he did. This little game is fantastic. Just enough complexity to keep it interesting. All the systems work well together the game design feels cohesive. Other games of this type often have disjointed systems that don’t help one another but the designer did an excellent job.

The crafting system is great, loved mixing different combos of weapons to see what might combine. Only thing I’d change here is an unlock at higher levels that would allow for ‘combine all’ that would auto combine all like types of items in your inventory if you are grinding gear drops. Would be a nice quality of life upgrade.

I absolutely adore the aski art style. Clearly something like that takes talent to make. Second: this game made me laugh a lot more than normal, but I think it was just a combination of the epic jokes and the ironic encounters. And overall, this is a fun game. It’s in the idle format, sure, but this game does it better than a lot of other games ever do, and even makes it feel like mostly me in control. There were a few mechanics some bosses had that I’m not quite sure the function of, however that didn’t stop me from having a grand old time and beating it anyways. I loved it!

Simple but Superb
Stone story is a 2D adventure crafting game with a style that does not take away from but adds to the feel and story. So much story telling can be done through simple animations. The humor and these animations throughout are reminiscent of West of Loathing and Undertale. The microtransactions aren’t necessary to beat the game and there quite a few secrets to discover before one can call this game complete not to mention its free here on mobile. My only current issue is a I can’t copy and paste into the automation stone box. I hope this is just a bug as it would be a game changer for an already unique feature. Hope to see this story continue.

Unexpected Masterpiece
I saw this game and was intrigued by something made entirely of ascii art, I went in blind and just downloaded it to give it a try expecting nothing special. What turned out to happen was what may be one of my favorite mobile game experiences in a long time. The ascii art and story are both charming and although it’s mainly idle, you can still change weapons during combat to be stronger or have more range, etc. the enemies are fun, story is solid and I’m only a bit of the way in. I love this game and you should definitely give it a go.
