Description

The Strikeman app allows users to practice their shooting skills without the need for real ammunition. Using our laser bullet, target and smart phone mount, the app records the target and records the users shot scores based on where the laser hit the target.

The app is composed of 3 sections:

Section 1 – Training
The training section is the initial area of the app where the user can practice their shooting skills. Upon beginning a session, a warning screen is shown to ensure that proper firearm safety is taking place before beginning a session. Once the user agrees, the target appears on the screen. The user calibrates the screen to the target by using two fingers to cover the circumference of the target. Then, the distance from the target is selected and they can begin shooting. Each shot from the firearm triggers a laser, which emits a laser strike on the target, and the app records the score. Shooting metrics appear on the screen to show the user how they are doing during the session. This is accompanied by audio. Once the session is complete, all shots will be shown on the target and saved into an archive.

Section 2 – History
The history section provides screenshots, shooting metrics, and graphs for the user to track their progress. This includes average score, average range, total shots and total sessions. The information is presented on a histogram and a pie chart. This information is saved in an archive.

Section 3 – Settings
The settings section allows the user to turn on/off gun shot audio and voice feedback. Users can toggle the distance metric, selecting either feet or yards. They can also report an issue if the app isn’t working correctly. The App provides access to the initial tutorial to ensure that all safety precautions are being taken.

Manamilost,
Great tool to fine tune grip and trigger control
Shooting with the laser cartridge helps focus attention on the grip and trigger control. Feedback is instant in that the laser is visible on the target (depending on the range). Without recoil and muzzle blast, it is easy to feel how grip and trigger pull affect the point of impact.

I am not as pleased with the software. I would prefer to select the number of shots in a session to be three or 5 instead of a minimum of 10. Since one is racking the slide of a semi auto for each shot, shorter sessions would be nice. I am glad to see the targets are retrievable through a template’s history. Reviewing and comparing the hits on a target is much more valuable to me than the minimal metrics displayed. If I’m tracking my progress I’d rather know the spread and center location of my groups. Maybe I have to upgrade to get more metrics?

Even though I don’t feel comfortable with the software, this is a great tool to practice shooting when you can’t get to the range or can’t afford to shoot. It does not take very many sessions to save enough in ammunition costs to pay for the Strikeman. I find myself “shooting” more often and in shorter time blocks with the Strikeman than when my only option was to disturb my rural neighborhood or drive to the range on a weekend when I was lucky enough to score a box of ammo.
sdtdc,
Super efficient dry fire training system!
Strikeman is the most efficient way I know to develop and maintain firearm marksmanship proficiency skills quickly without incurring the expense, time, and effort of multiple regular trips to the range over a long period of time. “Repetition is the mother of skill” because frequent repetition builds muscle memory that allows your brain to quickly develop the ability to just “run the macro” without having to consciously think through each one of the proper steps of firing the shot. Sometimes this ability is referred to as “point and shoot”, and is critical to becoming proficient with a firearm. When you consider that ammunition is $30-$50/box and fuel is over $4.00/gallon, you will save much more than the cost of the Strikeman system in no time, not to mention the hours of time invested in gathering gear, driving to the range, getting set up, practicing, driving back home, cleaning firearms, putting everything away, etc. Thank you, Strikeman, for an easy-to-use, well-thought-out, effective training system! One request: please go back to tracking raw scores, as targets are scored in the real world, not just calculating average scores.
tedious911,
Insanely good app!
What an amazingly well thought-out app this turned out to be! It’s polished, easy to use and extremely good at its primary task—to make you a better shooter! And that’s all without having to fire a single live round. Wow, I wish they’d had this technology when I was a lad learning how to shoot, instead of shooting into a box of my mother’s precious magazines and then dealing with the fallout shortly thereafter.

Since shooting (with a pistol anyway) is all about pointing properly and learning how to get better at hitting what you’re intending to hit—over and over and over—this app (and the entire Strikeman system for that matter), is a Godsend! Gone is the expense, the hundreds of rounds of wasted ammo (in my case anyway, as I’m a slow learner), and the time needed to actually go to the range. Instead, all one needs is a few minutes, this fantastic app and the requisite Strikeman system, and you’re good to go. And not with a mediocre product, but with a beautifully thought-out system. If you’re a shooter of any kind and want to be better at hitting what you’re actually aiming for, you simply can’t afford not to invest in a Strikeman system for yourself. It really is a game changer!
Tenn Mud Puppy,
Worth the money!!
I have purchased six of these systems to give as gifts after my wife bought my first one for Father’s Day. Everyday, I “shoot” 100 rounds 10 shots/ 10 times from different distances. This has made a significant improvement in my live ammo range sessions. Additionally, I have really improved my ability to point shoot. Door knob, light switch, phone, clock, AC adapter, etc. I quickly move around the room taking shots from about 15 feet at whatever I choose without “aiming”. The laser dot is visible and this has really improved my confidence and speed. I have many pistols, but I almost always use my DAO/SAO ones so I can just pull the long trigger pull and not have to rack the slide shot after shot. Long and hard pulls has improved my finger strength as well as my aiming control. Get yourself one asap. Only thing I want improved was for the app to go back to a normal scoring method. 10 shots should be a 100 score if all are X tens. If I shoot 6 10’s, and 3 nines and 1 eight I want to see a score of 95…. App used to do this. Now it says I shot an average of 9 …. That doesn’t really help. Competition shooting isn’t scored with average shots. It’s all raw scores. Please revert the scoring back!
skasdi1,
Excellent Dry Fire Training
I purchased the Strikeman training system because I have a 22 year old daughter that has just recently wanted to get into shooting. I wanted her to have the ability to practice with live ammo, but also dry fire drills.
We were able to download the app, set up the target and get the laser cartridge ready to go in about 5 minutes. There is no learning curve in the app, it is straight forward and simple. She quickly got the hang of it and practices 30 min a day on it, then I practice 30 min. Her progress from the dry fire training is now showing on the range.
Be we purchased this she was very hesitant to take her shots, would get frustrated easily and it got to where I had to drag her out of the house to practice. Now she is flying through two shot drills, drop the mag, reload. Two shots at 3 separate targets. And most importantly her accuracy has went through the roof as well as mine.
If your like me and don’t have time to get to the range as often as you would like this will definitely keep the rust off your gun handling and when you do go to the range you will see that the dry fire training carries over big time.
sciguy13,
Great way too practice!
The instant audio feedback is great! There are many options between left/right hand shooting, distance, number of shots per session and more. I have not used any of the in app purchases and have been satisfied with the experiences I have had with this training. This is definitely a low cost (compared to live ammo) method to practice and fine tune your aim. The entire system can be set up safely anywhere in your home. One thing that I have noticed is if you change the amount of light in the room by turning additional lights on or off, it may affect the training session in the app. Since the app is looking for the light from the laser, it makes sense that adjustments in light could affect the app. I would definitely suggest Strikeman dry fire training sessions. Obviously don’t get the kickback from love ammo, but definitely helps practice your aim and work on muscle memory. Remember to always keep firearms out of reach of children or anyone else that should not have access to them. While possession of firearms is a Constitutional right, we also need to make sure that others have the right to a safe environment.
JDHarvey,
Makes you a better shooter — regardless of existing skill level
I’m a big fan of Strikeman and confident it will make anyone a better shooter, regardless of their existing skill level.

I did a lot of research before buying and Strikeman seemed to have the most features and the best price. And I have to say I am VERY pleased after making my purchase.

My biggest learning is how much sight pictures vary from gun to gun. For example, Glock and Sig have fundamentally different sight pictures and if you shoot them the same way without adjusting for this, one will always miss the target. However, when shooting with Strikeman you will notice this immediately and quickly get to know your guns — including what is different between them. Best of all, you will not waste ANY money on ammo or think you are simply missing the target because of the kick the comes from shooting live rounds, etc. Instead you will be able to perfect your skills with absolute confidence, and know exactly how to get the most out of each of your guns. And it’s also fun to have a competition with friends, etc. using the app. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Dljjr,
Perfect and safest indoor dry fire practice with real weight.
Practice with the real thing, not a plastic wannabe toy. It’s like going to the range without spending all the hard earned coin on live rounds that you may not get to replace for a long time, or the time spent loading and driving and waiting in line. My new range is in the privacy of my own home, or even a friends; cost is extremely low, I can schedule at my leisure when it’s convenient for me. I can invite any of my closest friends to participate with out worrying about sharing or wasting my recently acquired (and over priced) projectiles. While this may not be an exact replication, it is as close as you can get. Remember, even Tiger W. dry fires his club everyday over and over and over and over. That’s how he has won so many titles. It’s called muscle memory; down stream impact is a very small piece to the over all process of getting your muscles and brain to work as one. Besides, for about the cost of two new boxes of your favorite flavor that only gets you maybe 100 swings, you can get a small box that will produce about 2000 swings down muscle memory lane. You choose, or loose, it’s up to you.
_S2H_,
First shots impressions…
Update: give a star increase. App works much better on my iPhone 11 vs my iPhone 12. The app still crashes more often than I think it should however. Usually during calibration.

Update: The app continues to not registering shots consistently. After some self troubleshooting I realized that the camera feed appeared to be lagging or stuttering. I’d put my hand on the target and wouldn’t see it on the feed for up to a minute. But the timer was continuing to run normally. This was on my iPhone 12 Pro. I tried running the app on my iPhone 11 and with the same setup that app performs much better.

Couple issues follow. I’m a little disappointed with the app performance after about 10 sessions. -the app crashes frequently. Setting up a new session isn’t hard. But it’s not a great experience. -Hits don’t always register. In a 10 shot session, I’ll do up 20 actual shots. I tried moving up close for a couple sessions to make sure I wasn’t crazy. -And improvement for the app during a session would be to have bigger font so you could see the counter and timer more easily from a distance.
Loves my Angry Birds,
APP NEEDS FURTHER DEVELOPMENT
The target and phone holder are well made and it is easy to set up the session on the phone app. The problem is in the app itself. It does not count the shots accurately. It counts sometimes more and sometimes less than you actually shot. Worse is that when you end the session and download the target screenshot to your photos you see that you have a group centered in the target but the app scores you as a 4 average when you can clearly see by your saved target that not one shot was outside the 7 ring. And you can see the laser flashes correlating with the centered screenshot as you shoot. So why such a swing in the scoring? Worse yet you just have a running total average in your history with no way to clear it. Like I said the screenshot gives you an accurate record of your session sort of like a paper target at the range but this is in no way an app that can track improvement in form because it is incapable of setting a baseline in the first place and inaccurately scores each successive session. You do not need to create an account so deleting and reinstalling the app would be the only way to start over when your history gets so skewed by the inaccuracy of the app. This IS a cool concept so STRIKEMAN developers please take my review as constructive criticism and squash these bugs. Thank you.
