Description

Live by the Sun! See not only the Sunrise and Sunset times but also the First and Last Light times for exactly where YOU are right now – not the "closest" city. See exactly how much daylight is left in the day - in a large, simple, easy to read display - so you can plan ahead to the last speck of daylight. Both iPhone and iPad support is included in the price. This IS the app you are looking for!

It shows:
• Sunrise time
• Sunset time
• First Light time (Dawn)
• Last Light time (Twilight end)
• Amount of daylight in the day
• Counts down the amount of daylight left in the day until last light
• At night, counts down the time left until the first light of the new day
• Counts down days, hours and minutes left until the shortest and longest days
• Dates of the equinox and solstice
• See the Sunrise, Sunset, First and Last light times for any day in the future.
• Correctly handles Daylight Savings time.
• Access to your location by the app is completely optional.
• Resizable text using iOS's Large text accessibility feature.

• Fully supported on iOS7 and iOS8.
• My most popular request - Access to your device's location is now entirely optional. If you don't want to give the app access to your location, then simply disable location access and manually choose your location on the map. The location you choose will be saved and will be reused the next time you start the app. We still recommend that you allow location access though - this means the app will be more accurate and automatically adjust the sunrise and sunset times depending on where you are.
• Implement iOS8 location security.
• Improved contrast between the background and text making the app easier to read.
• Greater accuracy at extreme latitudes.
• Support for iOS larger text sizes.
• Fit and finish UI improvements - we've cleaned up and modernised some rough edges we spotted on the user interface.
• Other minor bug fixes.

This is the first app I wrote some years ago and I'm really happy to have modernised it for newer devices. The app behind the scenes has been completely rewritten, although I've worked hard to keep the same user interface that is well loved while introducing new features that you've asked for.

Thank you again for your support and constructive feedback. If you have any suggestions please do email us from the support page, and if you love the app please do leave a great review in the app store. Enjoy!

• Count down to the minute on Solstices - when there is less than a day left until the solstice, the app will switch to an hour and minute countdown, and will mark the exact minute the sun reaches the solstice.

• Fit and finish UI improvements - we've cleaned up some rough edges we spotted on the user interface.

• Minor bug fixes and performance optimisations.

• Resolve an issue with displaying some times in the UK (3.01).

Plaiii,
Very useful
I use this app every day to help me determine my take-off time. I have to be at locations when there is enough light to see but these locations are not usually determined until about 2 to 3 hours before sunrise. This app allows me to select a location, then tells me when first light is there. Using this information, I can determine when to take-off.
Steve in CA,
Love this app
If you love to notice the daily changes of sunrise and set and the way shadows change throughout the year, you’ll love this app as I do. I especially like the Future feature that allows you to see the daily time changes so easily with the press of the forward or back buttons.
Moon lazy,
Photographer
Awesome and helpful for photographers who want to time the sunsets and sunrises for the perfect pictures. its on the money. Love the countdown percentages for length of night left and all of the other great info in this app. Solstice calendar cool. Background photo is neat too. Buy it u won't b disappointed.

Feb 2018
Still my favorite of all. I still rely on it to catch sunrise or sunset photos. 😁👍🏻
Corrbox,
Great Tool for Photographers
I use this Ap for knowing when the sun rises and sets wherever I travel in the world. It has the ability to inform you of many aspects of lighting that are important for photography. This is a very useful tool. I use it all the time wherever I am. Even to set the lighting timer in my home outdoor lights. 👍👏😎
iTunes...what's up,
Great app!
I use this regularly. I do have one request:
When I'm in another time zone, it's a bit confusing to know the event times. So, can you list the event times in local zone times? E.g. If I'm in Chicago and I'm checking the sunset time in LA where I'll be traveling tomorrow, it shows 10:05 pm. In LA, it's really 8:05 pm.
Thanks
Shushanah,
Please update app!/Love this app!
Hello! The app will not open at all. I love this app and I will be heartbroken if you don’t keep it. The last update was 2 years ago! Please don’t make me find a new sunset app.

Edit: I did delete and add again and it started working that same day. Thank you.
Zorro Viejo,
The easiest and most usable information!
This is my daily go to site and the one that is always accurate and always there!
Dbr80:),
Silly fun hobby
I look everyday to see how much sunlight there is and make sure I get at least a few minutes of time outside during the day.
Wish it had moon info too.
TerriFriday,
Very Convenient!
So nice to be able to check what time it gets dark or when the sun is up when making travel plans.
JulieneLove,
Lovely App!
Very well laid out. Larger than standard text makes this and all of his apps easy to read for older eyes 😉 Purchased all Pete’s apps, and all are extremely well thought-out, Thank you, Pete!
