I’m gonna echo the last review. This being the only surf app that provides complications on the Apple Watch it’s unfortunate this app doesn’t get much love from its developers. I just wish they would fix some of the little bugs. I actually paid for the Surface Pro upgrade just so I could store more than 2 surf spots. But for some reason no matter what spot I choose it always changes back to the first spot. (Also can you delete a spot?) (Is it trying to change to whatever spot is close by? Even though I chose location setting: when in use not always?)Then even if you choose imperial feet and miles you still see the tide in meters. If the developers can make these little fixes this app would be five stars.

Love this app!
Been wanting an app like this for a long time! It’s not to say that improvements don’t need to be made, but any issues I’ve had were solved quickly and with great customer service. I hope they continue to fix little bugs and work to make the information as accurate as possible. There’s been a few times where the tides and winds have been way off which matters in the areas I surf and affected my plan. I wish the graphics were a little easier to read, I’m not always 100% sure what I’m looking at or if I’m lining things up at the right time. I would also love a surf rating to be added. It can be really helpful when learning a new spot to see a “fair”, “poor” or “good”. The watch integration has worked really well and I love that it counts my paddles! The customer service is what sold me and the lifetime price was a great deal!

So close
I’ve been looking for a surf app that has the truly important metrics for surfers... Time of high or low and feet, and water temp so I know what suit to wear. This app often glitches out and lists the water temp as the air temp and occasionally shows the wrong temp. Looks like they haven’t updated it in 7 months, i really hope they fix some of the small issues because there’s no other surf apps that have a complication for ocean temp and I’d really like to have a reliable one !!!!

Neat but buggy. Needs fixing.
I live in a condo on the ocean. I’m more interested in snorkeling than surfing so I’m using the app backwards to watch for when it’s calm and glassy. The air temp and water temp info is busted. Set it to Celsius and the air temp shows Fahrenheit and the water temp shows Celsius. Set it to Fahrenheit and the water temp show correct but then the air temp is like 160 degrees. The multipliers are off or out of sync. The water temp complication on Apple Watch doesn’t change to Fahrenheit either. Such basic info and it’s sad it’s broken. It seems like the developer is in an updating mood with weekly updates which is why I decided to buy it anyways and support the development. Fix those basic issues and I’ll raise my rating.

Soo i dig the warch app… I love looking at my watch and seeing what the swell, buoys?, wind direction and speed, etc. I love seeing what’s coming in the next few days…
One major problem! The tide info is always off! It’s never lined up properly with the times up top… So following the line at various times gives a mix mash of info. Not to mention the tide info always seems incorrect when compared to Lola, Surfline, SwellInfo, etc. -star for this.
Second is the premium stuff… I have no idea if it’s worth it or not… but with many hobbies and everything having a fee, even a couple of dollars here and there or every month on soo many places adds up and just won’t do it. Ever… I know software and updates cost time and money, but maybe do donations or one time purchases? -star for that too…

Needs work
Great app. At least, great potential to fill a void for the Apple Watch for surfers. However needs a bit of work. The complications do not update unless you open the app on the phone. Which is exactly the point not to have to do. The complications also don’t seem to move along throughout the day for let’s say the tides. So for that option I may have to move back to the tides app. For swell etc it seems ok. However, again, having to open the phone to have it update the watch, needs work!

Has potential but not reliable
Could be a great app if it functioned as designed. Same problem as others that it won’t stop tracking after pressing the stop button. Even worse, the last two sessions don’t track waves. No wave count on the watch and the iphone app (on the map) indicates ‘wave data unavailable’. Tracks strokes and energy used well buy this is supposed to track surfing. The Apple app can track swimming and energy burned. Hopefully these issues can be worked out but seems like the technology still isn’t there for these surf apps on the Apple Watch.

Potential but quite there yet.
This app has so much potential. Unfortunately, it just very inaccurate when it comes to the tide changes and weather. It said the weather was 154° lol. And the tides are off. I don’t know where the sources come from. I used the Huntington Beach, CA location by the way. I’ll check out the app again in the future. Hopefully, it becomes the app most of us surfers are looking for to take advantage of the Apple Watch.

Extreme need for bug fixes
I purchased a pro account and I like this app due to the sensitivity. South Florida has a lot of small waves that Dawn Patrol just doesn’t track.
Bug issues:
- constantly closes itself out
- doesn’t respond when deleting waves
- does not save edits well
- doesn’t keep track of deleted waves when you change the sensitivity
- doesn’t have all of my local breaks (Dawn Patrol will update the list)
There are many more issues in other reviews.. I’ve been checking the App Store for a bug fix update since I downloaded the app months ago but it doesn’t seem like the creators care to resolve the many complaints in the reviews.
Someone needs to buy them out and get the show on the road! Heading back to Dawn Patrol

Not quite there.
On a scale of KookSlams to Kelly Slater this is in between. It only tracked 4/6 waves in a session even though they were long at a reef break. The data is cool, integrates well, and is a fun novelty, but there has to be better tracking. Not to mention the cool data of the paddling distance got lost somewhere. I was at 2 miles and it says .03. Unless that is wave distance ridden but it can’t be because the map shows longer than that. So I give it 5 stars for fun, but 3 for functionality.
