Kelly Rawlings,
Well-designed app
Pleased to see the app designers really paid attention to accessibility details, such as info hierarchy, decent contrast, good responsive margins for touch screen accuracy when manual dexterity is compromised (many of us have finger stick callouses or have lost a bit of sensation), excellent size of most important numbers and key graphics (such as the trend arrow). Unfortunately, there are a ton of design differences between the app and the pump screen—and I regularly use both viewing surfaces. So my cognitive load is burdened by having to learn and switch where to direct my eyes and my fingers—from location of info, to size of type and line thickness, to icons. Of course the designers of the 2 distinct but interrelated products had different aspect ratios, different real estate, different software architecture and platforms and design norms. Please work to align all aspects of your multi component partial closed loop system. Because your job is to make my diabetes self-care high quality, effective, efficient, and less burdensome. Thank you for a solid app. And Control IQ is impressive.
roro studdo,
Keeps closing
I’ve had this app several years now. Since updating to mobile bolus option I’ve hadnothing but troubles. It will not stay running. When I open the app it automatically closes out. I’ve tried rebooting my phone and closing reopening the app. It comes down to having to uninstall and reinstall the app, here lately almost once a week. It’s done it on last 2-3 phone software updates as well. I’ve not updated my phone and updated, makes no difference. Back in August when it did this it was not showing as running in the back ground but was draining my phone. My phone was so hot it hurt to hold it. When I opened settings to see what was draining it, this app was using 80% of my battery, but not showing as running in background. I went from 100% to 30% in 45 minutes with no other apps running. After uninstalling app my phone was normal again. Last time I talked to tandem in august they said nothing wrong with app. Well here it is April and I’ve uninstalled and installed several times and went without the app for periods of time hoping maybe the glitch would be fixed. To my surprise, it’s not. It’s been doing same thing for last 2 days, finally took back off my phone this morning. I’m beyond frustrated. I was so excited when the mobile bolus option finally came out. Just wish I could use it for more than a week (if that) at a time. Without having to go through the process of uninstalling/reinstalling and having to repair my pump every time.
Rip off one,
App crashes, and immediately closes when opening
Doesn’t work don’t know what happen keeps crashing. When I open the app it will say signal lost. Then it will regain signal and crash immediately and continues to run in background, even though it crashes and closes gives constant notifications, one after the other, no way to open the app because it crashes and closes but app runs in background, even though you cannot open it. Constant notifications example high blood sugar. One after the other continuously it will notify you with a notification, then a second later, another notification and so on, and so on same ynotification constantly. When I say crash, it completely closes. The app will completely close. And it’s true about filling the cartridges crazy. You put the needle into the slot at the top of the cartridge. You don’t know if the needles is in or isn’t. You push down on the plunger nothing happens. You Put the needle in the designated spot on the cartrige were it’s supposed to go to fill the cartridge nothing. I have had bent needles because of this trying to get it in the right spot, forcing it to go in.. You have defective cartridges talk to your manufacturers. You have problems with the cartridges. This has been going on for years.
Nurseskerl,
Great information
Since having the TSlim pump I’ve used this app and left it open in the background. I personally have not seen excessive battery drain as others have reported, and love the constant, instant data I get from leaving it connected. Also much easier when going in for appointments or having my doc check my sugars between visits. Love having the percentage in range right in my face, seeing the time and amount of control IQ boluses, the basal rate adjustments. It’s beautiful info for a data nerd. It’s awesome to be able to bolus from the app now too.

If I could make a few requests… make extended bolusing available from the app too. I would also love to be able to go in and out of sleep or exercise mode from the app. Finally, it would be nice to acknowledge/shut off alarms from the phone. Nothing like driving in the winter with your pump buried under your clothes and coat and having to dig it out while driving to silence an alarm.

Realistically would give the app 4.5 stars if able. Great job Tandem!
ER type 1,
Love it! One request please
So after reading the reviews, and the response from the developer I downloaded. I noted that at least one user suggestion was already in effect. Mind blown! I can see my insulin on board without looking at my pump! I’m hoping there is a widget to be able to view directly on my Home Screen but more importantly I beg of you to allow this pump to connect directly to a smart watch also. This will allow us end users to not have to cart our phones around with us. As an emergency room tech I can’t always have my phone with me and I can’t always access my pump due to today’s PPE needs but I still need to know what’s going on. I can’t wait to show this to the other T1 I work with.

What is the possibility of this app info being accessed remotely or shared with approved individuals? This would allow the tslim pump to share info with the phone and for the app to share with family while allowing the second communication port on the Dexcom transmitter to connect directly to a watch!!!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Hopefully Unused Nickname,
love this app!
I love being able to use my phone to keep track of my blood glucose and pump and CGM status. One suggestion for Tandem and the app developer: please add a time and date of last infusion site change; it would be more convenient than having to look at the pump history.

Since my last review, I still like the app and would not want to be without it, but it’s not working right; I am having issues with not seeing the blood glucose graph or bolus tracking at times, and sometimes I see a portion of the app with a gray background. I close the app and reopen it, and sometimes it fixes it but not always. I’ve tried restarting my phone and that doesn’t help.

Since my last review, still love the app, but it crashes intermittently throughout the day, causing me have to restart it. Today, it’s not been opening correctly, either a delay in starting or restarts in the mode where I have to click I Agree, then it circles, won’t open and I have to restart it again. It’s getting frustrating. Please fix it, thanks
v01drunner,
iPhone 14 Bugs!
I just recently upgraded to the iPhone 14. The app no longer syncs pump data with the online portal. The dots show up as gray in the app. I keep the app open in the background with no luck. When i go to the account options in settings, it says i’m not signed in. When i sign back in, reconnect my pump via bluetooth and sync pump data, the dots still show up as gray and the data still doesn’t sync online! When you check the Profile menu in settings, it says i’m not signed in again… Additionally, the new bolus feature dialog box always shows up every time i open the app, no matter how many times i hit dismiss. FINALLY, there is a huge problem with the pump connecting with t:connect and battery. I noticed that the t:connect app when paired with my pump via bluetooth has been (on the most recent update) draining my battery very very quickly. My pump lasts less than 24 hours on battery when connected to the tconnect app!! One night i fell asleep and my pump died in the middle of the night causing my BG to skyrocket. Once i disconnected the app from the pump, I no longer had this problem. Please fix these issues. I will not use the app until these issues are fixed.
BarrelCactus,
Fantastic app, questionable battery
This app does a great job visualizing your CGM and insulin data. The only problem I’ve run into is that this app seems to stay always on in the background and absolutely kill my battery life. I even turned off background app refresh and it still finds a way to stay on almost 24/7. The iOS battery settings reports that 25% of my battery is used by t:connect. I’ve also switched phones and both report the same battery usage. I think this has to do with my pump being constantly connected through standard bluetooth, my dexcom uses some sort of low energy Bluetooth so it doesn’t waste battery. I’ve noticed that in the iOS bluetooth settings it says the dexcom transmitter is not connected between BG reports but the tslim is always shown as connected.

I would love to get in contact with tandem about troubleshooting this because this app is incredibly useful even with the battery issues.

If this battery issue gets fixed this app is completely perfect!
IMCloudy,
Love it
I have been pumping for over 20 years and have been waiting for us to be able to control our pumps with our cell phones. I am happy the day is finally here. Your app is a great start! I used to use the Spike app when I was on a different pump. What that app had that this one doesn’t , is it allowed you to see carbs on board, and it you were low, suggested the amount of carbs you would need to bring your low up, based on the settings in your pump. This prevented those crazy rebound highs you get from over correcting. Also, it would be nice to clear pump alarms from the phone. Sometimes the ladies have our pumps in unreachable areas while wearing dresses etc. The last thing I would like to see is a memo box to add notes to the doctor. Maybe with the amount of carbs I took for a low, or site change, infusion set/ new insulin etc. Again, I love this app! Thank you so much for all your hard work giving it to us! 👍
Mseatec,
Great job on the first vision of the app
After all I agree with John it’s really excellent first version off the app. I am excited to look forward to any upcoming improvements. I decided on the X2 pump because there are always updates available therefore you not constantly need to get a new pump! Depending on where you wear your pump it’s really helpful to use your cell instead of getting the pump out! On the suggestion John made I totally agree! Also it would be nice to have an option to share your data with a loved one like Dexcom offers! I do understand that adjustment should be made on the pump itself but I would love to see if you can consider the option to make in the future more pump control and adjustment on your cell! Reason I mentioned it is because I am a PD dialysis potions I sometimes wear my punt on my thighs and I always need to use the restroom to make adjustments or disable alarms. But I am happy with the first version of the app !!! Thank you
