Description

*** WINNER for Best Elementary Student App at BestAppEver.com
*** Readers' Choice Top 10 at SmartAppsForKids.com

TeachMe: 1st Grade is the third installment in the popular TeachMe series of educational apps. TeachMe: 1st Grade teaches four age-appropriate subjects to first grade children: sight words, addition, subtraction and spelling. Learning subjects align with common core standards to help your child get prepared for 1st Grade. Parents can review performance history for each subject to check how their child is doing.

TeachMe: 1st Grade keeps children engaged with a unique reward system where children earn coins by playing learning games at the school. They can move around the rest of TeachTown to spend their coins on fun rewards. Children can collect stretchable shapes at the Shape Store, visit their virtual aquarium at the Fish Store, and decorate different scenes at the art store. The simple and intuitive user interface is designed to be child friendly, which allows children to play without help from an adult. An animated teacher (Mimi Mouse) gives verbal instructions and feedback to encourage the child to learn and succeed! In addition, the learning screens are colorful, fun and rotate between four different subjects so children don't get bored.

Children write their answers for math and spelling questions and TeachMe: 1st Grade reads them. If your child needs help, TeachMe: 1st grade will show them how to write the correct answer including the proper stroke order. TeachMe also includes a virtual keyboard input option.

Each child has an achievements screen which motivates and encourages learning by showing progress and levels for each topic. Parents can use this screen to quickly see progress of their child. Parents can select which subjects they want, set different difficulty levels, and even choose specific questions. Parents can also review performance history for each subject to check how their child is doing.

I used to play this game all the time for school and it brings back so many memories. Thank you
imthedrama,
British English?
My little sister really loves the British Voice on the preschool one if it was possible to get that on the other ones that would just make her day great app otherwise ❤️👌🏻
Jakgirl,
This app is the best!
I really like it you get to go shopping and learn and it’s just the best you should get it it’s really good the money is worth it
Daviesmom,
Wish it had a "lock" feature!
My son, who has Downs' Syndrome, LOVES Teach Me Kindergarten and Teach Me 1st Grade. He is so smart but needs a lot of repetition to make the learning stick in his mind. I love how this game uses repetition and rewards. He responds so well to the soft-spoken mouse teacher. Her words of encouragement sound very genuine. And he loves earning coins so he can buy stickers and fish food.

The only feature I wish this app had is a lock feature to keep the child "in" the game and not allow them to wander into other functions on my iphone. My son has deleted pages from my notepad, emails, contact info, photos and has rearranged my settings. Sometimes I let him play the games in the car while I'm driving or doing chores around the house. I can't possibly watch everything he is doing. I know he is just exploring and doesn't do anything with malintent. I want him to learn and enjoy the games but can't afford to lose any important info off my phone.
Dramafreemama,
Horrible app, not worth the money
I want a refund. This app doesn’t give you the ability to choose a subject or a game. It’s lazy. Waste of 2$ and frustrated my 6 year old within minutes of playing. I wanted to find a game that would help him practice subtracting. This is not it
k disappointed,
Very difficult
No matter how you write the answers, the “teacher” tells you it’s wrong. Extremely frustrating for my 6 year old and highly disappointing since I paid for this
Wxma,
Perfect
Amazing game, definitely recommended.

Had promise
This appWhat is promising but it just repeats the same 20 questions over and over

Awesome App! Autism Prove Educational Knowledge
My son who is 8 years old, and has Autism. He is verbal however tests poorly and due to school issues we are unable to access special education services, however this app is wonderful in that it allows you to really "see" what your child knows and is learning. I love that it records a snapshot of my sons writing, and is helping him to learn that we write for others to read. He is more willing to try to make each letter correctly. He likes the friendly mouse who gives instant praise for correct answers and encouragement to try again when it can not read an answer. Love the being able to trace the correct spelling words. Would like to be able to turn off that feature so that he cant give up easily. I have shared this app with our tutor, occupational therapist, speech and lanuguage therapist, and soon the classroom teacher. I have recommended it to other families wtih children with a Autism Spectrium Disorder. Thanks for a great app. Looking forward to then next one!

Excellent Learning Tool
I love this program as a whole, personally I think the rewards could be a little cooler but when you get down to it this app is about learning not the rewards. One critique I do have is that when you have to spell a word, I think it should have underlines or something to signify how many letters are in that word (2, 3, or 4). This is especially annoying to me when a word like 'ball' comes up to spell. My daughter sounds out the word and puts b, a, and l, but she doesn't realize the word contains 2 L's and it's unfortunate to see her get an answer like that wrong when she did so well to sound out the word and get the correct letters. Other than those minor details, this is a great app. Well worth the small price, and overall excellent for learning and/or review.
