mrandomk,
Excellent app overall, but audio glitch is annoying
This app works great and is very usefull and used to be a 5 star overall for me. BUT, for about the last 8 months I have noticed a bug when playing sound files. The first ~ 1/10th of a second is repeated, making every pronunciation sound like a stutter.

This happens regardless of which dialect or word is selected. Restarting my phone didn’t help. Deleting and reinstalling the pronunciation dictionary didn’t help. Nor did deleting and reinstalling the entire app. I’m running the app on an iPhone 13 Pro Max with iOS 15.2.1.

It would be nice to see this corrected if/when you can spare the resources as pronunciation probably accounts for 75% of my usage. Nevertheless, I still love this app! GRMMA for making it available.
Oisin,
Great app but needs an update
It’s been two years since its last update. This app has fallen behind in content compared to the website. Useful in a pinch, but the website is better.
sherjo,
Best learning investment!!
I don’t remember what, if anything, I paid for this, but whatever it was, it was worth it!! This is such a valuable learning tool for me as I work on learning Irish. I use it constantly as a (necessary!!) augmentation to Duolingo, and my learning experience has become so much richer with additional context speeding up my understanding of the language. Go raibh míle maith agat!!! I do notice the issue with voice files “stuttering” as mentioned by other users, and while it would be good to fix if possible, I am still finding them useful. Again, GRMA, I’d give you 10 stars and all the hearts if I could. :-)
Chicago Dog Mom,
Audio is off
This used to be a favorite language learning application but it is now one of the worst. What I liked most was the fact that the app provided audio files of actual Irish language speakers from the three main dialects pronouncing words available with that feature. But at some point within the last few years, the files started “hiccup-ing” the words making it sound as if the speaker is stuttering. This is no way to learn what a word sounds like! I removed and reloaded the app but that was useless. There is no point in praising the other great features in this app because the audio degrades their usefulness. Please fix this for the five stars this app once deserved. Otherwise it is just garbage.
STQ888,
The pronunciation dictionary no longer works after the upgrade.
The pronunciation dictionary worked fine on my ipad until I downloaded the upgraded version. Now, the sound doesn’t issue and the help feature doesn’t respond when tapped. Is there a fix for this? The previous version worked fine.

The problem with the Sounds Dictionary has since been fixed by Teanglann, so I would now give this app 5 stars.
Fiannaidhe,
Go raibh maith agaibh
I should probably wait to use the app before rating it, but I'm just too excited that they made an app. I've been using their online dictionary/grammar tool every day for the last year, and the website has been invaluable. For non-native speakers (which unfortunately is most of us) the extensive entries provide a bit more needed context than a simple list of definitions could provide.
Kevcal7,
Love it! But a backarrow would make it perfect
This app is so helpful. It would be perfect if I could back up to where ever I was before. This would enable discovery and searching which is crucial to language learning. For example, I search on Bain. I then click on one of the links but then I can't back up to the main page for Bain, I have to retype it in again. Am I missing something?
oschgael,
Love it, but not sure what happened
I use this app all the time. Two weeks ago, all is fine. Now the pronunciation doesn’t give me any sound on my iPhone. Not sure what happened.

Yes, thanks for fixing! Back to five stars!
Joyfulgirl82,
No audio anymore?
I loved and made good use of this app, but now the audio recordings aren’t working at all! I deleted the app, downloaded it again and reinstalled the dictionaries and sound files. Still no luck. Developers, can you help?
Anonamelly,
Audio glitches / plays double
I love the web version. I mainly use it for the pronunciations, but the iPhone version has a bug that causes it to repeat the beginning of each word, in all three dialects. Today I looked up “áisiúil” (handy) and all three dialects said “Aw-Awshool!” Every word does this. I deleted and reinstalled and made sure I had the current version but the bug persists.
