Puzels445,
My invoice says $0??
This app is one of the strangest things I’ve ever experienced. Strange, because I don’t understand how it exists. It doesn’t make sense.
I was almost sure it wouldn’t really work, or that it would be terrible doctors. I mean it’s an app. How am I going to get real and personal medical care downloaded from the Apple store.
But...it’s...real somehow. I really waited just a few minutes (instead of days or weeks for my pcp) and a doctor pops on my screen. (To be fair, I haven’t asked for their license #s and checked it up yet- but hoping that since its connected to a large insurance company, they wouldn’t risk the huge lawsuits of hiring fake doctors). So far they seem competent and have been on the mark with the diagnoses. But here’s the strangest part. I kept waiting for the bills to come in the mail. They never did. So I checked my invoices in the app and it said $0.00 What??? How is this free? Is it just a benefit for paying my insurance premiums? Sheesh. so worth it. So long as I can afford it, I’m sticking with this insurance now. (Unless I’m mistaken about how this all works) Its worth the monthly premium $ to not have days of anxiety or worry while waiting for a doc appointment. I was also able to call in at 10pm about a UTI and the prescription was sent over to my pharmacy in minutes. UTIs get worse by the hour and can be dangerous. This saved me from having to sit in a covid filled emergency room all night to solve that prob. So so so grateful!
Breathe75,
Great for general medical care…
Except there’s a lot that needs to be worked on for scheduling mental health appointments. I tried scheduling an mental health appointment and the first 3 providers I picked from the list sent a message a few days later saying they couldn’t accept me on the dates/times I picked. On 4/28, I found a 4th provider that seemed to have availability so I requested an appt with options for 5/03, 5/10 and 5/17. I got a message on 5/01 saying they couldn’t accept me for an appointment on 4/28. Huh? What about the actual 3 dates I picked? It said I can request a different provider. I gave up. But today, 5/13, I got 13 messages all through the morning saying they canceled my appointment for 5/01 and today, 5/13, at 7am, 8am, 8:27, etc.. because they weren’t able to get in touch with me. Never got a call or a txt confirmation for any appointments. I guess the positive is that I won’t be getting charged for a “no show” and having to fight that with someone at billing.

Also the listing shows providers where their profiles say they are not accepting new patients. Maybe they shouldn’t list providers who are not accepting patients or let you go through trying to schedule an appointment.

Outside of the mental health appointments I still love the app for quick appointments for general care.
sullivan.1068,
Bugs and glitches galore right now
The app is beautifully designed and has fairly intuitive UI/UX, but there are just so many bugs. Tried to join the waiting room for my appointment this morning, only for the next screen to pop up for a split second, disappear, and a half cut-off yellow error message at the top of the screen to pop up. I did this probably 10-15 times trying to enter the room. I had two appointments booked in advance, and the second screen with my next appointment details had the date and add to calendar button completely overlapping on the same line. The app makes me go through the same intro screens every time I log in. Seemingly not a big deal, but super annoying to click through prompts about sharing health data, location, remembering password, etc. every single time. This info should be saved and not addressed every time. Similarly, having to fill out the mental health questionnaire each time you want to schedule an appointment with your provider is so frustrating. Maybe shorten it after the initial visit, just to check up on things that change often? It takes forever and is unnecessary to address before each (sometimes weekly) meeting. The animations between screens are nice, but move slow and get old when trying to move quickly. It tends to drag, and gives the app a slow and lagging feel. This is a small detail but it drives me nuts lol The services are great, but the app tends to hinder the experience.
AnimatiCKS,
This APP delivered!!!
I tried all the rest and I got to say hands down this app was the best. Just 10 minutes after downloading and signing up I was already talking with a doctor and got the antibiotics I needed within that same hour. Sure I paid $75 for the doctor appointment but I could have gotten it for free if I just added my insurance info. But there was no time for that, I just wanted/needed antibiotics without all the waiting and fronting on why I think I need it. Doctor called, I’m told my problem and what I needed he asked a couple questions and confirmed my nearest pharmacy and said my prescription will be sent to CVS. Within the hour I get a call from CVS that my prescription was ready and get this, to top it all off, I didn’t have to pay for the prescription at all. This APP was exactly what I was looking for. It’s to bad we humans can be this straight forward with each other in real life. This app was as simple as if you saw your doctor walking down the street, you tell him what’s your ailment and he says “I got you, your meds will be waiting for you at the pharmacy when you get there. so don’t even trip”. That freaking easy. That’s how it should be anyways. GET WHAT YOU NEED WHEN YOU NEED IT AND IN NO TIME!
BreRaye,
Horribly glitchy and over use’s notifications
I HATE HATE HATE this app. I’ve been using for my therapist and psychiatrist and OH MY GOD does the app send TOO MANY notifications. “Action required please log in” so you log in, and there’s nothing for you to fill out it just shows the appointments I have that I already confirmed. Then it suddenly cancels my appointments because I “didn’t respond” fast enough?? THERE WAS NOTHING FOR NE TO CLICK ON. Or it decides my password doesn’t work anymore when it worked 10 minutes before, or the day before. So I now have to reset my password again. And then I do log in and it kicks me out of the waiting room saying there’s connection issues with my camera, so I call customer service to ask what’s going on and they say it’s my therapist who has connections issues and she’ll call within an hour, only for her to call while I’m talking to customer service, but it’s an UNKOWN number so can’t call back.

And then I do finally get to talk to her because I scheduled a regular phone call instead of a video visit and the app now has 3 separate appointments scheduled with her for the EXACT SAME DAY AND TIME while sending me 8 texts within 2 days about those same appointments when there’s no new information about them. Absolutely hate the app itself and it stresses me out to the point I’m thinkig of quitting therapy just so I don’t have to use Teledoc anymore. I don’t care if my depression gets horrible again this app is the absolute worst.
kcnray,
It’s hit or miss with the doctors
Some doctors on here seem hesitant to do anything when they can’t see their patients in person. I don’t use this unless I’m certain about an issue and it’s easier for me to use the app then go in or haul little kids in. One incident was when I knew my daughter had a UTI and we had a horrible blizzard coming in. The doctor refused to do anything, even though it’s on the list of things they can treat, and we were still charged for the visit. I then had to rush to urgent care where it was confirmed but by this time the blizzard had come in and we couldn’t make it to the pharmacy due to there being accidents everywhere. We were lucky we made it home. I also know when my kids have an ear infection. It’s usually a secondary infection that follows a cold for them and then they get a fever and ear pain. I had 2 kids with these symptoms and it was a Saturday. I requested visits for both on teladoc. One doctor for one child said “Yes, that’s typical of an ear infection so I will send over the prescription to the pharmacy.” And the other doctors gave me a really hard time and acted like I didn’t know what I was talking about. I was afraid he also wasn’t going to prescribe the antibiotic my son needed but he eventually did. It makes me hesitant to use this but I feel like it’s my only option sometimes. I just hate having to waste money for a visit that ends up being not helpful at all, and it’s for things the app says they can treat.
b-abba,
Multiple Unreliable Physician Experiences
I feel Teladoc as a whole is great in theory reaching people for a multitude of health related issues. Unfortunately I had two unreliable physicians more than once and it can be difficult to switch once you have seen a specific doctor several times. No one wants to go through medical history again, and again. My physician forgot every time they filled my prescription that I could not have 3 months filled at once, this lead to me needing to request a refill from them every month! Finally the physician completely ignored my pharmacy requests leading me to make an appointment where they rescheduled me over 5 times, just to ultimately cancel with no follow dates (this is not the first time). Then the dermatology physician completely ignored everything I said and I had no resolution, waste of money! I’ve gone with out medicine for 3 weeks, I only needed a quick consult. I’d appreciate better and less struggling, maybe this means Teladoc is more transparent with their physicians resulting in better scheduling and communication to clients. It is very difficult to go on and off mental health medication. I’m willing to give Teladoc one last shot, after all maybe I’m unlucky with two unreliable physicians, but it is the last chance for me. If the results do not improve I will use other sources here on out.
Stuffnameandeverything,
Made My Symptoms Worse
I contacted Teladoc due to an allergy reaction that caused rushes on me. The doctor talked to me for 2 minutes on the phone and completed her prescription. I was thinking this is great because she sounded really confident that it’s not a big deal. However, after taking the medicine prescribed to me for one day, my symptoms have gotten much worse and I couldn’t sleep at night. I tried to message the doctor but never heard back from the clinic; I tried to call customer service but was told that there is nothing they can do - if I’m feeling worse I should either go to ER or book another appointment. First of all, if I want to go to a physical clinic/ER, why would I use Teladoc in the first place? Second of all, isn’t it too easy for them to make money off of patients by prescribing wrong medicine and ask patients to book another doctor through them and pay more?

To conclude, this is the worst physician experience I’ve ever had, and they not only don’t take any responsibility for my symptoms getting WORSE after the visit and taking medicine as directed, they want me to just walk off with my symptoms or pay them more money. I’m not even sure if this is legal treatment of patients coming from them, but I would give negative stars if possible. Do not use their services if you want actual results.
DorianSkeye,
Doctors Excuse
Well, first of all. I can’t even see what I’m going right now because the text is blank. So hopefully you will be able to understand this review. This app is so glitchy and maybe they are doing work on it but I’ve had to make three accounts now just to get my correct insurance logged in. Oh and if your insurance changes you can’t change iit in the app.
Today I called for doctors for a cold and I had to miss work. It took me 30 mins just to try and log in and eventually how to call the help desk. They had to create a profile and that took another 30 mins. Then I finally got my phone call and it ended up being fifty dollars because that’s all my insurance would cover. Other websites do it for much less.
The doctor finally sees me to basically tell me all I have is some allergies and that he couldn’t prescribe me antibiotics. I had to miss work for two days because of this I’ll eas. So he prescribed me two meds for allergies that you can get over the counter for cheaper. He promised that he’d give me a doctors excuse but he did not. When I called the help desk for an explanation they basically said, we know he said he would but he didn’t and there is no way to contact him. They told me I’d have to schedule another fifty dollar appointment and that a doctors ecxcuse wouldn’t be promised. I told my job that I would have an excuse and they are expecting it. So now I havpeto go to work with no excuse.
Ddsadfjyyffg,
All but worthless.
As another review states, it seems good on the surface, but I don’t generally need help diagnosing my illness. The doctors generally don’t listen and want to argue with me about what’s happening when I already know and just need a prescription. If you have absolutely no idea of you have the flu and need someone to tell you to go see your doctor or an urgent care, then Teledoc is for you. I know what is going on with my body and I need an appropriate prescription and here in lies the problem. For example, I get bronchitis-like symptoms and have for years. Years ago a primary care doc I had before he moved started me on an albuterol inhaler, mucinex and Z-pack when the symptoms reared up. This has helped me get better every time and avoid bronchitis. I get this a couple times a year and I have tried waiting it out on several occasions, but without the meds it has lasted 2 months, progressively getting worse until it turns into pneumonia. So the way to fix it is with these three meds and it gets headed off before it gets real bad. Getting the Z-pack is impossible because the docs tell me it won’t work. Well I am 53 years old and heave been dealing with this for over 20 years and it DOES work. What is the point of Teledoc if they refuse the simple prescription that will solve problem in a couple days? I’m not looking for narcotics/pain meds, just an antibiotic....that works! Now I get to go spend $160 at Urgent care. Thanks for nothing Teledoc!
