Cocomint 3,
Video therapy sessions
This is my third time using the MDLIVE for my therapy session. At first I found the technical aspect of learning how to navigate the website very challenging. I had difficulty understanding how the whole thing worked there were no instructions on how to get to the therapist and how to handle technical issues on my IPhone. I found that I needed to remember to refresh my screen every five minutes or the picture would freeze. Or to turn off my notifications or the picture would freeze up or go black. Then you would have to hit the exit app button on the phone. Also, turn off your smart watch or the audio will go to it. Actually it’s better to just turn off your Bluetooth altogether for a video chat.
I love the two therapists that I have. They’re very professional and were quick to make me feel comfortable. They asked smart questions and were attentive when I answered them. They gave me exercises that were easy to do and challenging.
I think that 45min is not enough time for the first two sessions. I had so much trauma in the past that once I got started it was hard to stop talking in the 45 minutes allowed.
I think a wider assortment of specialists is needed. This should be expanded once the kinks are worked out.
I love the fact that I’m safe at home when I’m talking about my trauma and that I don’t have to drive home with tears running down my face trying to drive while trying to get myself together. That’s the best part.
elainefin,
Excellent service.
First, a 10 minute wait to see a doctor is unheard of today. It was eight minutes. Second, this doctor actually read my chart and the notes before he came online. That was another first in my experience. Third, he asked the best questions. He asked questions directly related to what was happening to me and what had happened in my recent history that was associated to this call. Fourth, I have a condition that is worsening. He actually broached that fact and the fact that I really need to see a specialist and what the consequences for me are short term and long term. My own PC will not talk to me about my condition. Fifth, he offered an alternative medication that has not been tried and I’m excited about using this med as a short-term treatment until I can see a specialist. Sixth, when he wished me well and hoped that I would feel better soon, it was authentic. He actually hopes that I will get relief and get back on my feet shortly. That was absolutely unique. I don’t know if every doctor in the service is as good as Dr. Lynn, but if they come close, they are better than the majority of doctors out there these days in my experience.
Your Friend in the USA,
Not Reputable
I tried to get an appointment at 8PM last night but didn’t understand the process and finally scored an appointment at 9:56PM last night. They said it would be a 3 hour wait. I got a call every 30 minutes asking if I wanted to cancel my appointment- until about midnight. I thought they would call but finally fell asleep. I woke up about 6AM and checked the app for my wait time. It said 15 minute wait. After 20 minutes I checked again to see my wait time. It became a 30 minute wait time ... so I called customer and got through. (Something I had not been able to do since making an appointment) and there was a nice man named James who apologized profusely about 9 hour wait. He then recommended I schedule a time appointment (why couldn’t I do that in the first place) for 12:30 - which would be quicker than a next available. Oh my word! So I decided to do it anyway since I was still having symptoms even though I was feeling better. I got a call back 10 minutes later saying there was a mistake and the doctor couldn’t do it over a text gone call. Had to be video chat so now they were rescheduling until 4:30PM - you know, right about the time pharmacies are closing because of Corona. I decided to take it anyway. Finally feel better and just canceled. I completely understand that there are back ups due to Corona but my wait time was completely ridiculous and they did not handle this in a professional way. They are not reputable in my opinion.

Good care. Some app confusion
My web browser said I was checked in and wait would be over 3 hours. It provided test for my camera, microphone, and speakers. Was expecting a phone call when provider was ready based on messages received. Looked at browser again 20 minutes later to see if the time would countdown to help me keep track, and last line said to be sure to log in to app. Downloaded app, logged in and before I could pushed anything a phone call came through telling me I had 3 minutes to log in because my appointment was accepted. Then both the app and browser were trying to access my camera and microphone, and showing my video. Both kept saying provider has arrived, but I had no audio or video of the provider. App said to enable notifications and wait and to stop checking in. I finally closed the browser and app and then had to log in to app again. After that login I started talking to a doctor almost instantly. He gave me three scripts to help with my ear and sinus infections. Glad I didn’t have to wait three hours, but still not sure what I needed to do differently, as I think I followed all prompts and directions directly. Great service though. Got scripts waiting at pharmacy without having to leave my bed.
Cmtomtom,
Wonderful for people with packed work schedules
I’ve been having a skin issue with my hands for the past couple weeks and it got to the point where I was very uncomfortable. I knew I had virtual visits through my insurance so while on lunch at work I looked it up real quick. Made an appointment and a doctor called me in 10 minutes. I explained the problem, sent her a pic, and she prescribed me a topical cream that was ready to pick up a half an hour later. I am floored at how easy that was. No calling my pcp office to be told that I have to come in at 2pm three weeks from now and sit there for 4 hours because the schedule is backed up. No going to urgent care and paying the higher copay and risking getting really sick from whatever viruses are in the air. No missing work, no driving all over the place, no irritation or annoyance to get some steroid cream to help my skin. This was the easiest thing ever to get doctor help real quick for a minor issue. And the doctor was so nice and easy to talk to, she was knowledgeable and knew exactly what the problem was.

I’m a big fan!
VLO3480,
Unhappy customer
I tried MDLIVE out for the first time about a lump under my eye. I waited over an hour before I got an electronic message stating MDLIVE was busy and would call me back at a certain time. I received call after call informing that they were going to call. What the hey?? Hours after my initial call I finally spoke with a dr. She told me that she needed to see my eye. I initially asked for a virtual appointment but after waiting hours to schedule an appointment all they had left was a phone call appointment. The dr asked if I had upload pictures. I told her I tried but I couldn’t figure out how to upload them. I asked her how to upload the pictures. She didn’t know how. She said she would get someone to call me and explain how to upload the pictures. I knew I would never get that call. The dr sounded rushed and irritated. I called customer service and told them what happen and they said they would refund my money.

Now 6 months later I am getting a bill for $45. On the bill it stated that the dr advised me to see my primary dr right away. She never said that. She did not give me any advice at all. I am so disappointed. This was the first time using this service and it was a flop. I ended up going to an Urgent Care center that charged me $180 because I had Cigna insurance. WITHOUT insurance the visit would have been $140!!! Completely disappointed.

Just Go to a Walk In Clinic
I have pinkeye. Not that big of deal to see an online dr and get a prescription for it. Unless, you use MDLIVE. I saw the dr. Took like five minutes. He said he would call in the prescription and it would be ready in about an hour. My eye hurts and he was sympathetic and said he would put it right in. Drove to the pharmacy, not called in. Called MDLIVE and explained. Waited an hour went to the pharmacy. Not called in. Called MDLIVE got it called in but out of stock. Called MDLIVE to get a different prescription called in. Waited an hour. Not called in. So on and so forth. Every time I called I have to explain all this to the person who answers the phone and go through each person trying to figure this out. Not that complicated but taking way to much time. Also, MDLIVE’s phones did not work all morning so I called and called to get disconnected as soon as their phone system picked up. I was told this morning that I would have to have another dr consultation in order to get my prescription. I refused and they did manage to get it called in but something tells me when I go to pick it up it won’t be there. This is the most inefficient dr visit I ever had. So much for making life easier with online dr visits. On a positive note, everyone who I spoke with on the phone was very nice. Just unable to do their job.
FN0891,
Go to Urgent care instead.
I was hesitant to try MDLIVE but was reassured by their customer service that if it was an issue that they could not manage via online consult I would be refunded. During the consult the Dr. was very good, and very polite, but due to the limitations of telehealth was not able to help me determine any method of treatment for my condition. It was recommended that I go see a physician in person. This was not a referral to a specialist or a greater level of care, just a lateral transfer to an physician of the same qualifications who could manage my health issue in person. This outcome is understandable but earlier I had been reassured by MDLive’s Customer Service Rep that in cases that the could not treat patients would be refunded. When I contacted MDLIVE and explained the situation to their case manager they were unwilling to provide a refund but she was more than willing to engage in a long argument. I would recommend skipping MDLIVE and going to your see you local Dr or Urgent care instead. No need to pay MDLIVEs fees only to pay again when they send you to see a Dr in person who can repeat the exact same consult just without the limitations of Telehealth. In the future I’ll save the extra fees and just go to urgent care or my primary the first time. I am quite displeased by MDLIVE and their customer service.
Skdbsknanzakakaoajbsiwbw,
ALWAYS AFRAID TO GIVE ANTIBIOTICS
This used to be a good option for our family because we do not have traditional health insurance.
The idea is great. No waiting in a doctor’s office filled with flu germs. It is accessible any time of day or night. You don’t even have to drag your poor, sick child out of bed. I used to love this service and think it was worth the money. Not anymore!
I’m not sure who is in charge of when and how many antibiotics can be prescribed, but EVERY time one of my family members are sick, we are told that it is viral and no antibiotic. So what is the use of this service if we can’t get an antibiotic when we are sick?
Just to let you know, because we don’t have traditional health insurance, we do everything we can at home to treat our symptoms first before we seek out medical attention. All of us, even our little 5 year old, wash out our sinuses with saline rinses, gargle, and take more vitamins than anyone else I know. If we call in and ask for medicine, it’s because one of us is feeling really badly and the home remedies have not worked. Most of the time the home remedies do work, but in the few cases when they don’t, we just need an antibiotic! In today’s world, no one has the luxury of staying in bed for a week to 10 days waiting for the sickness to run its course!
indigoinfinity,
Scam
I used the desktop version of this service but came here to warn people about this company. My husband went through the sign up process (which was fairly easy/efficient) and selected the video call. Was told the wait time was less then 30 minutes and displayed name of doctor he would be “seeing”. 15 minutes later, we received an automated phone call stating that the wait would be longer and offering to switch to a phone call instead. We declined and continued to wait for the video call. After another 15 minutes, we opted to switch to the phone call because it was taking too long waiting around the computer. This time the page updated with a different doctor. After another half hour we still were not called. I attempted to use the online chat with customer service to see what was up but no one replied. Husband tried calling customer service but couldn’t talk to anyone until he took a survey where they tried to sell him a cruise....is this a joke????? Checked the activity log and it states that a doctor called us for a consultation. This didn’t occur! We have the phone records to prove it! We ended up cancelling the appointment because it became apparent it was a scam. They charged us $40 for literally NOTHING. Disgusting.
