Description

Play as multiple different characters, each with their own special skills to help them survive the onslaught of descending blocks. Keep climbing or face certain death. Scramble up a treacherous chain of crates, boxes, and blocks to see how high you can reach. If there's no safe route, you can strategically destroy some of the blocks to open a route. Don't take too long to think about it, though. The blocks keep coming, and they only get faster as you ascend!

The Blocks Cometh comes from Halfbot Studios, the developer behind the hit mobile version of Super Crate Box. It features a cast of wild characters that can be unlocked by achieving certain goals. Every character has their own skills and abilities, allowing you to find the one that fits your play style best! Challenge yourself in 4 different modes: Classic, Casual, Arcade, and the retro throw-back Gamebot. No matter how you choose to play, The Blocks Cometh. So what are you going to do about it?

Frantic Action: Blocks keep on crashing in from above. Dodge, attack, or climb on top of them to stay one step ahead of extinction!

Multiple Modes: Play the standard Classic Mode, take it easy with Casual Mode, go for a high score in Arcade Mode, or kick it old-school in Gamebot Mode!

A Wacky Cast: Unlock and play as 14 different characters including Velocispider, League of Evil's Leaper, and... Jim Sterling!?

Play Your Way: Master classic button controls or the optional tilt controls. Play in vertical mode to see the blocks sooner, or horizontal mode for a close-up view of the action!

Ascend to Great Heights: Climb to awesome altitudes on these tricky, towering blocks. How high can you get?

THIS GAME HAZ SPACE LEMURS!

Seriously though, it does. You can play as a blue robot that can turn into a gun, you can play as a duck WITH guns! You can play as A DUAL LIGHTSABER WIELDING SITH LORD SPACE LEMUR. You can also die by falling ten feet onto blocks that have already been placed.

This is a great game, with cool retro graphics, a simple goal, and a lot of replayability. The devs appear to still be adding gameplay features,which is impressive, because I got this game a while ago.

But there is one issue I have with one of the game modes. Specifically, arcade mode. The floor rises up two fast, so the "towers" of blocks end up being only about four blocks tall. I prefer to have a bit more height to work with.

All in all, a great game. Some would call it highly addictive, but I think I have a short attention span, so if you get me to play this game for one hour at a time is impressive.

Nice job halfbot.

P.S. Keep adding space lemurs.

Probably still my favorite iOS game ever...

I don't know why it's so captivating, but more than a year later TBC still has my attention while other games have come and gone through my phone's screen. The addiction of climbing higher and higher and the need to go "just one more time" for a high score is unmatched. Such a simple concept and yet challenging, I hope everyone loves this game as much as I do. Thank you, Halfbot.

Now while I partially did this for the character I just wanted to give my thanks for this game. I have now owned three Apple devices; without fail this game is in each one. I have loved it from the start, and I hope to continue playing it until I finally get all the characters xD so once again; Thank you Halfbot for this amazing game.

The game is worth buying and it plays realy smoothly and I was told to try it out and I did the game is a little diffucult to reach some hights and it atleasts gives me a challeng to kill some time plus if I had not been told about this game I should have been board. Thanks you halfbot 😃 I apreceate the app in many ways I really can.

Awesome game!

I love anything these guys create! Old school and awesome! This is one of the games I like to always keep on my phone. Love the soundtrack too! Old school baby! Old school! Get it! I bought the extra game mode for .99 just to give these guys some money so they can keep creating good games!

This is my second review for the game: All I got to say is thank you, Halfbot, for finally updating this game for iOS 8! (Wish I didn't have to make an attempt to get all my achievements again but I'll let that slide)

Classic iPhone game

This is one of the better games to come out of the app store. Fun graphics. Wish the controls were a little more responsive ala league of evil or other platformers but they are still right up there. Recent update for iOS 8 and the taller screen makes this an A+

Games of all time!!!

Haven't played in a while and it's still refreshing to hop around and get higher than before. It's just a working piece of genius that is self containing. It will be a classic... no debating.

Wonderful entertainment

I've had this game for about a year now, and I've loved every minute of playing in this fictional universe where 8-bit heroes embark on the treacherous ascent towards safety. Endless entertaining, and wonderfully stylistic to boot.
