Planning a trip?
Use The Light Watch to setup the potential locations you want to visit in advance. When you arrive, visit those locations under the best conditions; getting the most out of your trip.
Over any given Watch, you can vary the degree of conditions required before being notified. For example, indicate that you need “Ideal” Cloud Light conditions, but “Fresh Snow” is optional. You will be notified to go when the ideal Cloud Light conditions are forecasted, but the weight for the shooting location will be elevated when “Fresh Snow” is also forecasted. Once you get what you want; tighten up the conditions for that Watch, or change them all together, ensuring you get a unique experience every time you go.
The Light Watch includes a variety of tools to analyze the relevant forecast around your locations. Topographic models show the position of clouds, sun and terrain to visualize what is predicted. The weather panel provides a summary of conditions and their probability for your upcoming visit, as well as a set of weather condition graphs covering your location so you can plan for your own comfort and safety. Both map and table views provide unique options for visualizing and analyzing the weather.

- The main map has a new layout, with the map controls embedded top and bottom, instead of the sides.
- The map layer rendering is now completely custom, and no longer uses pre-generated map tiles. This allows the map to display current forecast information, and map data from different weather sources (NOAA, weatherstack, and Open Weather Maps)
- We introduced Extended Map Layer information, which you can customize. Animations for wind, rain, snow, extreme temperatures, and aurora can be added to the map. By default, all are enabled.
- New base map layers now include Aurora, and Storminess. In addition to the newly designed tile layers for Cloud Cover, Wind, Chance of Precipitation, Temperature and Humidity.
- We added a Time Selection control so you can easily advance/retreat the currently viewed time. We also made it simple to input a time directly.
- The Day Selection is now bi-directional. Tap on the left side to back up one day, tap on the right side to advance by a day. Tap and hold to reset to the current day.
- When selecting a Light/Location watch on the main map, it does not automatically open. Instead, it centers the map over the location and allows you to tap the popup description if you want to open the watch.
- Updated the Weather Graph panels to include a larger display of the current forecasted value (top-right of each graph).
- Added the distance to the horizon/atmosphere in the Elevation chart.
- Numerous other defect corrections and minor enhancements.
