Description

The Quest Classic - Islands of Ice and Fire is an expansion to The Quest Classic, a beautifully hand-drawn, engaging and sinister world full of mystery, magic and provocative challenges. After enabling the expansion, you can continue to play The Quest Classic with your existing character(s) to explore new areas and quests. However, if you don't have The Quest Classic, you can also play the expansion as a standalone game.

In the game you are a Kingdom Agent on special assignment to discover the source of a mysterious illness that has devastated one island (icy Thule) and threatens another (fiery Eldfell). You'll need all your wits and gaming talents as you travel through these deceptively picturesque worlds to overcome new challenges, for good or evil.

In the expansion you will find:
- Over 30 hours of additional gameplay
- New monsters with graphics/abilities/properties
- New weapon type: crossbow and its ammo, crossbow bolt
- New, superiorly enchantable armors and weapons
- A brand new spell with its own effect
- A lethal disease - keep yourself away from that one!
- Many new quests, NPCs and high level shops
- New books to learn skills from

To access the new areas (not applicable if you are playing the expansion standalone), go to Mithria harbor and talk to captain Hanty, then select "The Quest Isle" as your travel destination. It is recommended to reach at least level 14 before trying to take on the challenges the isles pose.

3rd generation left out,
Great expansion, but warning to those who bought "The Quest Gold"
The Quest series is amazing and I have to say that the expansions are amazing! One problem though that they do not tell you about on this page. If you bought "The Quest Gold" over the regular "The Quest" as a starter game for the series, do not buy the following expansions : Hero of Lukomorye 1, Hero of Lukomorye 2, Islands of Ice and Fire. These come pre-packaged within the Quest Gold from the beginning. If you do what I did and bought this by accident, you will know it when you get the error that says "The Quest version 2.0 or later must be installed." Upon researching the internet I found out why. Hence I am warning others from making the same mistakes I did. If you own "The Quest" this will work for you with no problems. If you Own "The Quest Gold" don't buy this or the other listed expansions mentioned. They come prepackaged as part of the premium gold package when you get that application, which is a great deal by the way to kick start you off to the game. Other than that, great series chock full of entertainment.

On the side if you buy any expansions outside of this, get the expansion "The Cursed Chess Set" best way of starting off a new character with tons of amazing equipment and so much money.
shadowofechoes,
Top Quality
I cannot praise this game enough! I have the base game, and it is absolutely the best RPG that I've found on the iPhone/ iPod platform. Just like the base game, this expansion is well worth the asking price, in that there is lots to do, as far as quests, and side quests go. There are plenty of areas to explore as well. Best of all, its a non-linear setup, as is the base game, so there's no particular order in which things must be accomplished. The plot continues to thicken at an exciting pace! The options for customizing your character, are wonderful, as well...
Originally, this game was only available for the PC, and Palm and maybe one other handheld device; Redshift did a fantastic job with porting The Quest, and its expansion, to the touch screen interface. It's a complicated, tricky process, and they did an outstanding job with both games.
As for the bug that's been discovered in the version of 2.1. which occurs when a "yes" or "no" dialogue appears, or when using rope to get to one area from another, Redshift is working very hard to remedy this problem, which should be resolved in a few weeks.
Albino Brown Pig,
An absolute production stopper
The Quest and the expansion both will have you making time to play. I am very picky and critical when it comes to my gaming, and I am very cheap, so I shopped for a good long while before intitally purchasing The Quest. A couple of weeks later, I was anticiapting the release of the expansion, and would've bought it at three times the price. I'd never played The Quest, or any of it's expansions, previously, but now I am a huge fan. Redshift/Chillingo, please give us more expansions for the iphone.
That said, I found the controls to be a little quirky at first, but once I locked the screen rotation and went exclusively to the d-pad it became a non-issue. The sheer volume of gameplay and depth of sidequests is impressive, but I found the end of Ice and Fire to be a little monotonous. A simple back door on the Abbey would've improved this greatly.
Like I said, give us more - Sten can only rest on his laurels for so long.
Hammurabi,
YES!!!
I really didn't think Quest could get any better, but this expansion proved me wrong. If you've finished the main game and are reduced to wandering looking for side-quests like I was, this will make your day. And not only that, I personally think this area is BETTER than Freymore. It's tuned to higher levels and has better equipment than could even be dreamed of in the origional game. Also, side quests are EVERYWHERE here, Ive picked up a dozen so far on the first town alone!

If you like Quest, this is an absolute must. Between the huge amounts od new content and the ability to keep going with the same character (stats inventory and all) this is a HUGE steal at only $4. If I could I'd give it six stars out of five. It's just that amazing. Buy it. You won't regret it.
Stevensguzzie911,
Need to get to Thule?
You have to get a quest from the governor ad he'll want you to go to thule... He mentions to close the gat at all times! and then find the hollow tree... Somewhere north of Elfell or something like that. When u go 2 the tree... There is a door (after you go in the teleport,I think) Use the key to open it and then kill the snow dragon. After u kill him. Go to the deactivated teleport that doesn't work YET! Then close the door you just closed. Ad then the portal to Thule is at your fingertips...O and then after ur in the Thule. Mark your position to not go through the dilema again.
SPOILER ALERT:
The town is deserted so expect the shops to be closed and I'm the map, go through the abbey and that's where the people are...no shops there:(

GLAD I CAN HELP!
Kethaera,
Congratulations, Redshift/Chillingo!
You've done it again! I enjoyed The Quest so much that I rushed out and bought Ice and Fire as soon as I heard it was out. I'm enjoying it every bit as much as I hoped I would.

For anyone wondering, it's *very* easy to continue your Quest character in this expansion. Simply start up the expansion app, and on the first screen is a choice to enable it in the base game. If your base game is still installed, then choose that and it will do all the work for you. Just restart the base game when it asks and you're ready to go.
Ded Bob Man1,
Great but needs more for $4
This game is great but they made only 1 new spell and only 1 weapons shop that I know of ( the one in Thule isn't working now so it doesn't count). The first Quest had lots of spells and around 4 weapons shops.

If I could give some suggestions for spells I would say add a repair spell because in the first one I was stuck on the last island fighting orcs and dragons with near broken armor and weapons. And make some ice attack spells and a fire spell that doesn't have blast radius therefore cost less mana. Also add lava boots so if you step in lava you won't be burned and ice boots doing the same thing except with ice.

Also add a spell maker were you can make your own spells (obviously) but it will be very expensive.

Also add an arena you can go to as many times as you want and have it have creatures your own strenghth or harder.
I think its great everyones leaving good reveiws because its an awesome game but give suggestions instead of just bug fixes. 
highspire,
Bug since update
There is a bug when trying to use the rope to get across pit to Boad in the crypt south of the abbey. Can not finish game. You press Yes to use rope, brings you to the Ice and Fire iTunes page.

Otherwise, great game. Not as good as the first and way too easy to beat, but a good expansion tho. I really enjoy the series and hope there are more expansions to come.
Ramsey2314,
The best
I cam hardly believe how awesome this is for being on my phone. I play this more than any console game. Worth every penny. It's not PS3 graphics people lol. but the gameplay is so awesome you will burn hours and hours and more hours playing this! my favorite app. A true RPG that reminds of my long nights playing morrowwind.
F5 u no it,
Great game
This is an extremely addicting game but the only thing I don't get is that you only have 1 life. If I had the choice to make any update, I would make unlimited lives and just take away some items when you died and restart at the last place you slept. Anyway, great game, and whoever makes the updates, consider my idea .
