Huberlicious,
The only true RPG worth some time on iOS
The Quest is a effectively a turn based 3D open world role playing game. That being said, you'd think this game would be a dime a dozen, right? Well no. The AppStore is utterly lacking in the RPG department compared to other similar application networks, especially ones that have the kind of depth needed to keep it on your system for more than 2 hours. The Quest, however, somehow delivers on this in a spectacular way. Now, I can't speak for the DLCs, but the main game is HUGE and worth the time to explore and build in. Open ended class system reminiscent of Morrowind and a world to boot give the game something that RPG players can hardly find in AAA games for PC these days. Given the time, The Quest will keep you entertained for as long as you want it to. My only true gripe can be chalked up to the low visual fidelity considering this game has been available since I had my original iPod Touch. A little update in that regard would bring some new life to this already lively and fulfilling role playing experience

Amazing One-of-a-Kind
This game will grab hold of you and not let you go. It rewards you in meaningful ways, has great story elements, dense world, and so many expansions you will never run out of things to do. Buy it, you wont regret it!

Perfect old school first person rpg
This game is awesome. Great dialogue and immersive world. I just wish I could use a game pad. I really hate screen swiping. Please include mifi in the next update.
NorthWinterhold,
Controls and Health issues
Game is ok for a retro style rpg. The controls are difficult and could be easily made simpler. Your health is damaged severely no matter what armor you have. With that being said, you die quickly. The map is somewhat ok. Could use a touch up. It is not worth $4.99, but $1.99 would be better priced for this game. Good luck
JJJDDD,
Deep, immersive RPG
I have been playing this non-stop for about two weeks now, and have probably only finished about half of it so far. This is a full-fledged RPG with a non-linear plot and many sidequests, many of which can be solved in different ways (which will affect how your character progresses). The first-person perspective makes it very immersive, and the graphics (although not cutting edge) really draw me in (the lightning during a thunderstowm particularly impressed me). Movement is grid-based with turn-based combat, leading to very tactical combat which I like (fans of pure hack-and-slash may be less impressed). If you're looking for a very rich world with a detailed story, this game is for you, particularly if you like a huge variety of abilities, races, classes, and choice. I am truly addicted to this game!

Added: I've finished this twice now; the first time I played non-stop for about four weeks, and it has been absolutely great. I easily spent over 50 hours on this and then went back to play again with a different character to make some different choices.

The last update added some new quests and areas to the original game; it's great to see the developers committed to this great game. More important, there are now two expansions, "Ice and Fire" and "Hero of Lukemorye I" (and more to come), so you can continue with your character into new and more challenging lands and quests, providing a really huge amount of content to explore.
Vladmier,
TES for the ipod
This game is just pure fun. If you like the elder scrolls or any other game of that kind this is a game for you. It's grafics are great considering how big and exspansive the world is, though the world can be a bit small after a while(about 30 hours or so of doing quests and such you'll know a lot of the map) There are some down sides though, first of all is the fact that gaurds don't help you in a fight and the fact that the always know when you've committed a crime even when know one is around. Also the combat has a few flaws, one is that running away from a fight is a bit to hard without teleport or recall, and even when that spell is cast you are still hit by the enemy one last time (resulting in death if you are trying to escape so you don't die) And the biggest problem I have with this game is the quest system, it needs to update after you have done part of it, or at least tell me where to go or what to do. So in all this game is THE BEST rpg on the iPod or iPhone and is a must buy.

For those people that want everything a consul or pc game has, please remember that this is only a APP FOR THE IPHONE or IPOD, it's great already you dont need to ask for so much stuff!!!

PLEASE READ SOME Of These reviews chillingo, many are good, even though the one that says to put a question mark over the place to get a quest it dumb(isn't that from runescape????!!!!)
Speltz,
It's about time.
Anyone who gives this game below five stars is absolutely insane. The graphics are not an issue in rating; you know well what the interface / play looks like before you buy this game. Other than that; this title is near (if not in fact) flawless.

I've been looking for months for an awesome RPG / adventure game for iPod touch / iPhone, and I finally found it with The Quest. This port is done flawlessly; I can't stress this enough. Now realize; I'm a HUGE RPG gamer, from the classics like Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger all the way to current MMO's (FFXI, WoW), and I have to say, based on my experience, I would recommend this game to anyone who has a knack for these kinds of titles. I have also been an avid Elder Scrolls fan in the past, and this game is almost like a carbon copy over to the iPod in terms of item synthesis / creation, combat, mechanics, quests, and everything. If you enjoyed Oblivion and Morrowind, as with all the earlier Elder Scrolls such as Daggerfall, etc., then this game is prodigal for you. Buy it. Now. Especially if your genre consists of GOOD RPGs and dungeon crawlers.

The Quest is a flawless and beautiful paragon of the iPod touch's capabilities in terms of story, gameplay, and graphics. I hope to see most games follow in its path in the future.
pismodude,
Get it.
In spite of the old school appearance and interactivity, this actually plays better than almost any RPG on the iPhone/iPod Touch (Vay was excellent, although even more retro). I like this because it is actually a challenge to play and your story actually changes based on the choices you make (from skillset to race to your actions/morality). Although excellent already, it would be nice to see three things added:

#1: Customizable avatar (from camera roll instead of just the default pictures).
#2: Other view options in the settings (first person view is ok, but most traditional RPGs let you see your character from above/behind).
#3: Co-op Wi-Fi play (I know this is extremely hard to program and add in for developers, so I won't hold my breath, but it would be pretty cool to help each other complete quests).

Kudos to the devs on this one, especially on figuring out how to allow users to listen to their own music in the background without needing to stop the built-in soundtrack and sounds, great mobile gaming experience for such a low price!
EYEATEYOU,
Finaly! A deep, quality RPG!
If you have been waiting for an RPG that brings the feel of large, non-linear RPG with lots of depth, your wait is over. The Quest brings everything that RPG fans love and expect from a game such as this. I'll admit that the graphics are nowhere near what the iPhone/itouch are capable of but the amount of gameworld and gameplay makes up for it in spades. The writing is good and well edited, so none of the bad typos or translation quirks you might find in other titles.

The engine implementation is my only gripe. We all have been shown what this device is capable of and the speed is not up to par. It can take twice as long to move or preform a combat action than on ppc/pc. Having said that I won't take a star off because I know that the devs can optimize it further through updates.

Please support this title! Hopefully Redshift/chillingo can bring the expansions through an ingame/web download as well as a new modernized FPSRPG that will take full advantage of the Iphone/Touch hardware!
danielomurphy,
Simply Fantastic!
This is by far the greatest game ever released on the app store. Simple controls, great graphics (in portable standards), and an ingenius combat and skill system make this a must buy for the system. It is completely open-ended, with elements from Morrowind, Oblivion, and even Orcs and Elves. There are countless quests to be completed, and they are all simple enough to figure out on your own. This is an excellent RPG, and definitely the best addition to the App Store. Ever.

There are a few things I would like changed:
1. Quest updates, so you can record what following people or actions have said to you regarding a quest.
2. More graphics for weapons. A lot of items look quite different on the inventory screen, but look exactly the same when they are held in your hand.
3. Expansions! I'd LOVE expansions for this game like the ones you released for Palm OS and Pocket PC. I haven't completed this game yet, but I know I will have a lust for more adventure when it is through!
